What LSD fits in these? I have done some research and have read conflicting reports. I gather that I need a 'big' one from another V8, like E38 740/750? Non-V8 E34 ones don't work? I am still really enjoying driving this thing, can't believe how much car you get for your money with these older BMW's. So much better than my E36. I took it to Taupo a few weeks ago and it's nice being in a solid, quiet and comfy car that can get up and overtake when you need to. Hopefully taking it to the upcoming dyno day, might see a few of you there. Excuse these iPhone photos and how filthy the car is - Auckland weather is horrible lately. Last one is with DaveO's 530i.

He's also talking about an E60 M5 and Quattroporte so I assume his budget can handle this calibre of M5 he is searching for. It does seem finding one in this condition will be the hardest part, not the price. Perhaps an E46 M3 would suit in the meantime?

I sold my E36 (328) a few months ago and picked up this 540i. I had never realised the difference in quality and 'feel' between 3 & 5 series but they are miles apart. Everything feels more solid, rigid, comfortable and of course faster Plans for it are tracking down some 18" AC Type II's or maybe M-Pars and lowering it a touch. One question though, the car just came back from having a few bits touched up and now I'm getting tail lights, licence plate light and brake lights pop up on the check panel. All of these work though. Is there some wiring/sensors I should be checking? Common problem? Get's annoying as it takes up all the screen and can't display time/range info.

Still waiting Wednesday will be 7 weeks.

Something about a system change has meant a huge backlog of orders in Germany. I've been waiting for a front bumper now for 5 weeks while my car sits at a panel shop. Anyone else caught up in it too?
