Here are some snaps of the swap we did, purchased a wrecked 325i pre-fl for the M20B25 to go into my friends 320i auto (that car was slow, and hungry on petrol) Here's the car (1985 pre-fl 325i w/ later model M20 in it) Sporteh... Having to move my car out of the garage to use the pit! Few E30s... Chris (with his insanely low front) had his car around soon after for a looksie.. We removed the M20B25 and replaced it with a retard. Will have more pictures within the week... Have some questions though: We have 3 fuel lines (main, return and vapour) from the 320i (which is facelift) where as the M20B25 only has two pipes for fuel to go into (near the regulator and the main fuel rail, need to put the extra line in somewhere!) - any ideas where this goes? Another note, Pre-fl to fl plumbing is a pain in the ass... Radiator has a fairly random bits of pipes left right and centre.

Unless you're trying to sell the motor as a whole, I'd be keen on the throttle body and associated piping back to the airflow meter.
-
Problem with the FL's is that the rear arches are physically lower, which gives it a sacked at the back look. My old 318 had a lip on the front, seriously badass... Just couldn't go over gutters when you were parking.
-
And thats how you re-do your E30 interior 101... Looking sharp Andrew.
-
Keen on the plastic lip if you're willing to sell seperately (also, where abouts are you?) We are talking about the plastic lip thats about 2-3cm thick that runs along the lower front valence...? Cheers, James

As far as courtesy goes.. I let most 'car enthusiast' type people through - asides from DX's and other pieces of crap rustbuckets on cutties. Anyone in an beemer (who doesn't look like a snob - rules out half of the new ones) gets immediate right of passage regardless of age, gender or race - E30 owners rock. Single women in four wheel drives can drive over my car if they want to be let in, because I'm not going to move an inch. People who dare mess with the merge like a zip system and who try to cut in will face all wheel lock-up like the WRX who tried to cut infront of me whilst the lanes were merging (he was immediately behind me, then saw the lanes were merging so decided to boost it) I put it down a gear, he nearly went into a parked car... Cheeky bastard. Cars that pull out of nowhere, forcing me to apply the anchors, then take forever to get up to the speedlimit get the horn treatment.

Yeah it does too... Was going to include that "Looks mean on dark cars" but yea.. Chrome never looks good on white.
-
I think the bumpers painted and the chrome blacked out looks great, I'm the anti-chrome on light coloured cars...

Mainly ride downhill around the local tracks - don't do much riding in winter but the second summer comes along..... Have a Keewee stealth, and an Avanti Hotdog - one bike out of the two is usually working...

Simly awesome man, very very tidy! Piccies of the engine....

318ti and z3 'rear assemblys' bolt right in. Same old generation tech as the e30's except you get the benefits of 5-stud hubs and rear disc brakes (if your car didn't have them factory)

Don't worry about the funny idle, If done right you can pull off the just "lumpy cams' thats why the idle's sh*t" Temp sensor out?

The most life-changing thing you can do with an M20B20 is stick a manual gearbox on it, which you've done. Keep the engine well maintained, and it will serve you well. I wouldn't replace anything unless the old bits were rooted.. Money is better spent on a M20B25 or M50... M50B25 would be fairly good on the petroleum wouldn't it, compared to the M20B25?

The 325i has 300xxx something, speedo has been intimitant for a while so yeah... odometer stops working! 320i with around 150xxx

Sounds good brother... Need a hand in CHCH just ask

I've got some 14" Basketweaves that _might_ fit your car you could borrow That or some 215 5 spoke 17's in FWD offset

Look a bit standard to me.. Doesn't really have that aftermarket charm.
-
I've got extensive pics of that car for your friend E30stz.

I think 2-4 holes need to be tapped to allow the Getrag 260 (out of e30 sixes) to mate up with the M50.. DIY material. The manual gearbox off the M10 (Getrag 240?) mounts upto the M30 doesn't it? - Not sure on how long the running gear would last though M30 swap is another option, 3.5l E30? Ask the owner of 'replacement evil' regarding what he thinks of it!

The swap on my mind (for my car) has been the m50 - nice modern engine with good power for it's displacement. Like gus said, plenty of info out there and as far as sourcing the engine goes they are fairly common (525i preffered due to oil pan clearance, if it's out of a 3 you have to change the pan - I think there's a few other benefits as well) - I got quoted $1200 for a complete m50 at a local wreckers with 100,000k's. I couldn't justify turbo'ing a b20 when a b25 offers that much more for so much less, I however could justify turbo'ing a m20b25 / m50b25 however Really into the fun territory here.... So many things to tinker with! Personally wouldn't consider doing a Jappa swap... I want a fast engine no ones heard of!
