    BUMPX2

I'm pretty sure this was parked on Roberta today. Had a quick peek inside. Looks OK. Bugger keeping those wheels clean.

  3. Agreed on the Lotus Elan, it is the best FWD car I have ever driven. It handles like a Lotus should. Brilliant car, a bit gutless though. No torque steering demon and you could get it to lift off oversteer with perfect balance. Still not a sports car. Korean built Lotus, still isn't the same as the real thing.
  4. Happy Birthday Cam I'll shout you a  when I'm down there next. Maybe, it will just grow up to be an M5.

I can look after you for dust & tox masks!

Looks great. Remember to line up at the Intermarque sprints with it.
  7. I'm with Andrew, good to see you giving it some! No point in owning it if you don't drive it. More tyre smoke in the next lot please.
  8. BMW use the Glasurit paint system, call Euro collision in GI. And tell them what colour it is. About $100 per litre.
  9. As a rule of thumb. For every 10 degrees Celcius (or Kelvin) that the air charge is reduced there will be an increase in power of 1%. So given that you have bugger all to start with, you will get a little more. I'd put a K&N flat filter.
  10. www.remus.at Contact Retro Products. See BMWNZ for Schnitzer products. Or take your risk with whomever you chose. On the whole Pitstop and the like take a stab at the improvements. There are actually ways to calculate the pro's and con's of exhaust mods. The people who can design great exhaust systems will charge you suitably for their effort. i.e, there is no point in having a system optimised to 8000rpm if you never get beyond the 6500rpm limiter. A free flow system will give you more Hp and lower torque (lower down the rev range), if designed properly. Look at the Yamaha EXUP design philosphy for how an exhaust system should perform. You get what you pay for.
  11. No such thing as a front wheel drive sports car. Looking forward to pics of the 325.

    It's Done!

Pics of the exhaust system should be given to me over the week-end. All going well.
  13. I'd say your guards need to be rolled looking at that photo.
  14. Why don't you look and an E30 325 or an E30 318iS then. Both are cheap and they go well. This one is on the BMWCC website. No idea if it has sold. 540 has 400Nm of torque stock also. So you are paying for more trouble. Higher number of components, lower MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). If you look at, a custom piston at $200 each, $800 for a 4 cylinder, $1600 for my car, $2400 for a V12. Conrods, valves, crank etc. Good reasons not to buy a V12, especially as they are not more powerful in either HP or Torque.
  15. I'm with Emma on that one. PLEASE don't!
  16. Bring along that 750. It has at least 300kg more weight and no more horsepower or torque (as standard). I'll line up next to it. You name the bet it can beat me!
  17. Buy Kiwi 535's E34 M535, see Brent for one of his collection. I'd get the 328 for all round fun. The E36 (in good condition) is a car with great balance, enough horsepower and torque. You can then play with it as you get money. A 5 series is always better than a 3 series for cruising. 4 people in a 3 series look stupid on a road trip. You just missed a mint E36 318iS for about $11k.
  18. I've succumbed and gone and bought a copy. I'm pretty happy with that. 32kg heavier than spec. I was surprised about the 51/49 weight distribution, that's for sure. Car has not looked better since it was new Andrew, Thanks!! Hopefully, I'm around in a few weeks to take it for a strop around Puke.
