  1. the inspection light is related to kms travelled but i beleive it also monitors throttle openings and revs,so if you drive hard the services come round more often..i beleive the mileage for the services is about 15,000, 15 oil 30 ins1 45 oil 60 ins2 75 oil 90 ins1 105 oil 120 ins2 135 oil 150 ins1 165 oil 180 ins2 195 oil 210 ins1
  2. All M5s (except the current one) will be manual,so thats nothing. The M5 will be potentially more expensive to own and maintain, the Alpina is basically a chipped and ported and cammed 535 It would be the M5 for me too,but i dont think they are worth that sort of money.A 3.8 6 speed maybe...
  3. I am with the naysayers, silver coupes is all they have in common,in real life you would never mistake one for the other.

    very nice.....

you dont have to lok at those links for long to see which one is the best.......The "BMW club" one looks brand new compared to those other two.
  5. overheating does the job for most engines not just M52.....Its why cooling system maintenance is important esp on iron/alloy engines
  6. sheesh dont worry about it...I wonder why you have a stuffed engine......
  7. If you have got an order number from PP you had better ring them back and tell them
  8. wow what a list....I was going to mention WSB bt i see you have it covered.
  9. i dont think that 150,000 ks is very many Ks.I would want to know why a rebuild was required at approx 140 kays.I cant say that a clutch wouldnt be required at 140,000 ks but a rebuild????
  10. yes happy birthday cain,just a pup....
  11. youre a champ Jochen...actually inviting people around to your house to work on their cars!
  12. even at 6'3" my knees are ussually pretty wel hard up against the seat back in front
  13. betcha he has had a few sets of fronts though....
  14. Yay....happy Birthday Emma.I hope you get some nice prezzies and some stuff for the E30 too!
  15. agreed..a"proper" msport car is much nicer lookimg than its std brethren....ussually because it looks very very similar to its real m3 or m5 brother, complete with sport seats and ussually upgraded interior trim/options
  16. mine came with the "sport suspension" from germany but wether it has been "aligned" correctly who knows....
  17. I dont know,as far as i know my car has factory sport suspension and it is set to the correct settings....apparently sport means more toe to give better turn in and "feel" at the expense of shoulder wear and slightly less than perfect feel at straight ahead...in relation to std suspension settings. 3pedals do you know the settings for "sport suspension"
  18. Looks like a nice car.... 540/6
  19. i understand that Cains comment relates specifically to his tyres.....thanks for your comments on the rotation, the e34 seems to wear the trures relatively evenly front to back, except for the outsides of the fronts...
  20. I would have though that comment disqualified any tyre for NZ use.....
  21. 3 pedals if the rotation is relatively frequent does the trye still get "set"
  22. did you get the fronts done at the same time martyn? What do they look like?.I drive fast (ish) at times but i dont acellerate that hard, from a start.I reckon my fronts would wear out before the rears, and then the outside of the fronts before the rest.I didnt rotate the last set of tyres but if i had i think all four tyres would wear fairly evenly.I have been lead to believe that the "(factory)sports suspension" with more toe (and camber?) makes life hard for the fronts.....
  23. Hey bro I lkike your 73 5 series...:)

  24. The program a boring just regurditated statstics The guy observing thir driving was the bet bit the full ladder chassis doesnt deform and absorb the energy.... Occupants of a truck or SUV will suffer huge impact force if they hit a similar sized vehicle or some immoveable object and their dynamics will ofteen turn evasive action into a rollover...so they arent "safe" at all, they just seem it and with the big wheels and bumpers etc every body seem to think they are the bees kneees.I would have a subie or something if i needed 4wd traction, and and a mpv if i needed the room. The only vehicle i would rate behind a suv is a forward control van. The other thing i hate about suvs(was this mentione in the program?) is the way they block your view
