the 540 is (thats I S) has the same engine and gearbox as The 540 I le.The NZ ones also have the "automatic air cond" and will also have the sports seats etc etc. They dont have the edc suspension, and as far as i know they have the same brakes.Even in sixth (and they have very high gearing) the accelleration is impressive.I think most of them came with the Metric wheels, but most will have had them swapped out by now. At one time recently there were three(one twice) for sale over the period of a month. One of the guys that bought one of those cars has a thread some where about selling his.An awful lot of car for the money!I would have one in a second but the $ gap between my 535 will be too much.

either a wrecker (unlikely) or you will have to go to a dealer
-
me too.I looked at a NZ 530 D over xmas, and i think this morning i might go down and drive a supposedly "motorsport 530" in town. They are all autos tho....

just ring the closest BMW dealer and ask for the price for a 90 minute check....its a std price i think.Mine was very thorough, and even gave me a list of parts and prices for them. They told me in their opinion it was a POS and told me to offer the guy 6000 not the 16000 plus he was aking!(that was for a 535is english import a few yrs ago!)

nice work there without doubt. What "black stuff" do you use?
-
the 530 is the updated 528,if you can afford a 530 get one over the 528.Just to throw another one in consider a 530D,yep a deisel.....I saw one for sale the other day, complete motorsport kit,and with all that tourque would be a nice car...you would be looking at 30 k tho.....NZ cars are ussually very well specced.A 525 would be the go if round twon was the norm.Spend the time a get a nice highly specced one, they dont cost much more than a "normal one"

Emma.Is it the "Old BMW" or are are they actually gainst you having a car at all at the Mo?.In purely monetary terms a 3000 k Nissan or Toyota will be better, but that doesnt take into account your knowledge enthusiasm and the fact that you have access to a workshop, and i would say some goodwill from the previous owner!

your symptoms sound exactly like fmy M30 bfore it got a new dizzie cap....Tke of the new one make sure all is clean and dry inside......maybe the sitting around has caused some condensation....
-

six photos of a seven series....no wonder! -
i though that was the first ruke of buying a car privately....a deaer( a proper dealer) guarantees the title of the car so if it turns out the previuos owner owes money it doesnt matter, the dealer is on the line not you.I sure hope things work out,and in the meantime use the VIR to check .It can shows up intersting things ,like mileages at registrations wofs etc.One 540 i looked at had a lower mileage at one registration than the one before! It turned out to be a data input error!

yes looks fantastic...good work andy,&^%$# hackers!
-
That is totaly unacceptable. It doesnt matter how old your car is they have to treat it with some respect.Go back, ask to see the manager and show him the damage. If you get nowhere then do the letter thing.I would expect you to get some action.Be firm but polite.Tell him you expect better from one of NZ,s leader in tyre service places.

some would say that in 1994 the 540 was the m5.No M5 available in NZ at that time.We never got the 3.8 6 speed here

Legality/Considerations for a Raffle Sale of a Car?
kiwi535 replied to LemonHunter's topic in Off-Topic
i think you have to clear with the dept of justice and the draw has to be supervised in some way to ensure you dont pull out your own ticket....Its a tough market isnt it.I would love to have a 540,but I wont get f.... all for my 535(essentially the same as yours) and then shell out another 6 to 8 thousand for the two cylinders and an extra forward gear. -
must be hella light grey.....
-
love the techno violet ,hate the white......good luck, having driven a few i dont think anyone who drives it will be able to resist.
