They were probably referring to the speed rating of the tyres. Hey - it's a facelift '01 with Angel Eyes and Xenons. I've been told by a few that it's a much bigger job than the non facelifts unfortunately, and new adjustment kits don't actually exist. A cable tie has done a great job for now though!

Exactly. There's a black '01 528i Motorsport at a dealer in Grey Lynn that's been on the yard 3 years (no exaggeration). It's only done 57kms, and is listed at $20k. But he said he'd take $17k. Still overpriced in my opinion. Let us know how you get on!

Good luck on the hunt - I've just spent my weekend trying to help someone find a similar MSport E39. For under $15k you'll need some luck to get one that matches that description! (But that's part of the fun......) There are some very untidy examples out there, especially at dealers stating they are 'auction grade 4'.

Just confirmed the headlight adjusters on my E39 are broken. Looks like I'll ask someone who knows what they're doing... Too nervous to fix that myself!

Hey mate - I just got an E39 Motorsport off a guy who imports cars through IBC (the Japanese car auction site). If you want his details, flick me a PM. He could probably import you a car to your specs. Mine is in great condition, and I picked it up for a sharp price. Definitely trust BMWorkshop Grey Lynn for an inspection - they know what they are doing. (I also live in Grey Lynn). Good luck on the hunt!

Thanks mate! Yeah mine doesn't have a world tuner - it's 4 months too old. Tristan, the black grills look good, will definitely look into that! (And I'd give a limb for the Schnitzers on that car too.....)

Thanks mate - the body is surprisingly tidy. Yeah the Altezza was 3L and 4WD, so fuel consumption can only get better from there....

After 3 months of owning an Altezza, I realised my mistakes. Just picked this up today - 2001 525i fresh from Japan. I was looking for a 530i but decided to get a tidier & more well spec'd example with a smaller engine. I did want a black one, but they're too hard to find at a decent price. Need to sort out the front jap number plate holder, and get a Euro radio tuner. If you have either, let me know.

Haha so true!! I once got an AA inspection on an E36. They thought the chronic rust under both tail lights was "dirt". Luckily they refunded the cost of an inspection after a fight. Back on topic - that's a nice looking E39!
