  1. Doesn't sound over the top to me. And don't buy your own parts and get them to fit them. That is folly. The extra you pay in mark-up is worth the slightly better service you'll get, and removing of the hassle of sourcing parts yourself, the hassle and costs of delays and mucking around when it turns out you bought the wrong part, the hassle when they don't replace some small item because you are supplying parts and it doesn't come with the kit etc you bought, the stress when a part fails and they blame the part and you blame the installation. At least when they supply everything, if it fails early, there is no doubt as to who should pay to replace it. It is then up to them to try and recoup the cost off their supplier. If you are going to DIY, then sweet, but if they are doing the work, let them sort out the parts and pay the mark-up.
  2. Euro Italian for sure - have bought 3 off Gavin. You need to specify f/l or pre f/l as they are different.

    E30 320i Racecar

just be glad you can do it on a student wage - I couldn't, and my g/f can barely cover her living and fee costs as she has no parents, and we all know the loan structure benefits the wealthy who can hide their income. Rant over, awesome job so far - I'm going to go get me some oven trays -awesome idea.
  4. Gay starship enterprize steering wheel and dash. For that money I'd be looking at either something from Aston, or one of the cheaper hypercars.

    Auckland Supercity

I'm for it based on my experience here in the far north looking back on the history of the borough and county councils being merged to form the Far North District Council (FNDC - or F-ing DC to most of us). In terms of a united vision, ability to allocate funding etc, it works well. Th eold concils were replaced by a smaller number of wards each of which is allocated its own elected Councillors and have voting rights and manage projects within their own areas. My only criticism of the concept is that the community boards and wards are not given quite enough power. I think Auckland could work well with a similar system scaled up and with the community boards given the power they should have. It is totally ridiculous for a city the size of Auckland to have such segregated and poorly coordinated infrastructure, finance, transport, resource managment, and planning. I remember when I was working in Auckland the problems with conflicting and very different planning rules for different, "cities" within auckland that were very similar in terms of town planning needs. There are some very ridiculous stories of projects either exploiting some loop hole, or being shafted for no reason just because of their proximity to a city boundary or similar. The above example by Ewie of a motorway project spanning two "cities" is a prime example. I say it is a good idea, but needs alot of time and money spent on planning and implementation. if it is rushed it will fail. They need to be careful of what may be lost when smaller organisations are merged into a larger one - the abolishment of harbour boards and merging MOT with the police are prime examples of this.
  6. Talk to Suspensiontech about what they can make for you. Or Autolign. I'm pretty sure that both do custom bushes. Susp tech did the valving on my Bilsteins. Chris is a mate of Keith Hartley (aka SUSPENSION - H&R forum Sponsor). David - the site uses frames - you need to get the url for the frame, not the parent page - frames are FTL on modern web pages.
  7. Hah - apart from the salesperson comments, I'm keen on the SportMaxx's, but want to do some research on the Bridgestones first. I just bought a new set of Sport Maxxs and have never used any other tyre, so want to find out whether I'd be happy changing or should buy the Dunlops and store them. The prices are competitive.
  8. Inappropriate posts removed. Stop posting crap.
  9. DOn't have time to read it now, but looks pretty cool. Thanks, bookmarked.
  10. My last experience with a panel beater involved a poor quality job and 2 kerbed mags on a perfectly unmarked set. By the time they'd repaired the rims (good enough, but not perfect) I'd gotten so sick of arguing, and come to the conclusion that getting them to do a better job would probably result in more damage so I gave up. Talk to them about it, other wise you could complain to your insurer - after all - they are paying and you now have another claim - theft and repaint of other door.
  11. OK They don't have any anymore - they definitely used to. Turner motorsport is just as good and a reputable bmw aftermarket performance part distributor. Plenty of bimmersport guys have stuff from them (suspension and braided brake lines etc). Turner Solid mount kit. The benefits are less flex, the downside is harsher ride and more vibration.
  12. You can buy solid subframe mounts from Ireland Engineering. bmw2002.com. I'll go find a link...
  13. Recommend the light sand with fine wet and dry first. I removed the chrome from the black plastic for a better result but you can easily wreck it doing this unless you are very carefull - just mask it? Also use satin black, not gloss.

    e30 325i 1988

    Cool - feral e30 > tidy e30 anyway.
  15. Not too bad most of them this year. Linky Read the 2009 amendments that were updated this week. The only ones that will affect most BMW owners is the introduction of the more stringent emissions laws for imported vehicles that we discussed ad infinitum last year. Well, now they are slightly more clear in terms of the definitions of the standards. Also an amendment to the WOF inspection rules for tyres. It used to be 1.5mm across 3/4 of the tread, then it went to 1.5mm across all of the tread, then it went to 1.5mm on all principal grooves with tread wear indicators. The current change only applies to tyres without tread wear indicators in the principal grooves which now require them to comply with the old 1.5mm over 3/4 rule. So 99% of us won't be affected.
  16. ROFL - that's the best laugh I've had in a couple of days. So funny I can't even pick a favourite. Printed and distributed, cheers.
  17. My guess was something electrical - often causes an issue under load. Had 2 or 3 vehicles with same symptoms over the years. Leads/plugs/coil etc were culprits,
  18. How do the Potenzas rate against the Sport Maxx?
  19. Westy I thinky I fixy your linky, but site appears down anyway. Is the new car an SA car with the extra fuel tank in the boot???? If so, then there definately is a breather but usually plastic and rubber. Some cars have there fuel filter in the engine bay. The supply line goes to the filter, then from the filter to the fuel rail. and then back via the return. its easier to describe with a picture as you say. The breather goes up over the firewall to some sort of diaphragm valve thing.
  20. Use gasket goo. No gasket required. Do a a search for which one to use.
