  1. I'm going to have a play with virtualdub and AutoGK to see how I get on. At the moment my biggest problem is finding a codec for the AVI files from the camera. vlc plays them fine, WMP only plays the audio, and AutoGK and Vdub and WMM won't recognise the files. Took a few mins of footage last night until I split a radiator hose. Will try and get fixed quickly after work and take some more.
  2. Want some open source, or closed-source freeware video editing software to chop up the avi's of my car and stitch them together, throw a soundtrack over the top and then convert to a upload-friendly format/size. I don't think I like Windows Movie Maker based on the two times I used it to make a quick vid. Windows XP Pro BTW
  3. I reckon it would of looked better with a satin finish. Like our Willy's Jeep.
  4. Haha Andy, typical Jafa! Wellington, Chch AND Dunedin also have motorways - not just an Auckland thing (although by the amount you lot whinge and the $$ spent on the ones in AK it wouldn't be hard to think so). Been there! Drifted a roundabout unexpectedly at about 20km/h in the dry. WTF! stopped, checked, petrol leak all over rear tyres and dripping onto hot exhaust...
  5. BMW drivers are wankers. Old clapped-out e30s and e36's are driven by idiots who think it makes them look gangster so they remove the springs and drive like muppets. Stock e30's are driven by grand-dad/grandma who can't see clearly past the end of the bonnet. Stock e36's are driven by hairdressers, receptionists, and lower-middle class middle-agers who think they have bought into German engineering and drive like they're in a car worth $200k and own the road. Anyone driving any 5 series e34 and newer, or any other BMW newer than an e36 also thinks they are somehow now wealthier and therefore (illogically) better than everyone else and own the road (just try merging into their lane in your inferior e30 and see how far that gets you). If you don't fall into the above categories you are either a beardy weirdo driving a "classic car", or a BMW enthusiast/racer, in which case you are probably complaining in this thread about how everyone hates BMW drivers.

    Dump old parts

I don't know about the dump near you, but the dump I go to has a metal dump area where it is free to dump anything mostly metal - the scrappies then come and collect large amounts at once. Everyone wins - you dump for free, it gets recycled, the dump saves space (they have limited dumping areas and need new resource consents ($$$$) when they need to expand), and the scrappy gets more scrap to melt down and sell.

    Bent Rim

I tried to fight the Council with no result. But that was me against them as I didn't want to claim on my insurance as at the time my excess was very high and I was trying to build up a no claims record. You should have better luck with the insurance co on your side. That aside, you could also try Brugar Engineering, Barry's Point Rd, Takapuna. They have experience in straightening and refurbishing wheels.
  8. Looks clean. Same as my first BMW right down to the colour and year! Brings back memories.
  9. Sooo much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a steal BTW. Kit plus motor plus manual conversion sold and you would be well in front and still have the shell and rest of the car
  11. Get over it I say. We're all starting get a little precious don't you think?

I see it is missing the small tech II piece in front of the pass side rear guard. Weird because so is mine (until I get around painting the new bit I bought that is).

M Run Day on April 5th

    Awesome cars, awesome weather. Luuuucky!
  19. I guess it's how you spin it... On the one hand, that sounds reasonable, on the other - the second to top bidder would be pissed off knowing that it didn't matter how much they bid, unless they bid over $10k you were keeping the car and flicking the audio - pre-arranged. A $10k reserve would have been more fair, and if it didn't hit reserve, then you sell the audio to Mr. X. You want as much for your car as possible, and that's great, but people bid on no-reserve auctions in good faith, the vendor should act accordingly.
  20. Cheap! I thought I was getting a good deal on my car with all mods at $400-odd with $600 excess for over 25 and full license and value around $8k. Although mine isn't classic cover, so I can do more miles (and I do about 8-10k a year so don't qualify). Swann sounds really really good. Might give them a call.

    Wish me luck

Even the duty solicitor should be able to handle this one. I slipped, fell and then was dazed.... I didn't mean to fall into someone's property.... We all get drunk and make mistakes. As long as they don't hurt anyone else and you're still alive - no harm done. I've done my fair share.
  22. BMW are mechanics, not panel beaters, but they may be able to recommend one. I personally have heard nothing but good things about Precision - go see them, I think you'll feel comfortable once you've seen their workshop.
  23. Awesome design. Yes, will likely need a spacer for e30 - ET30 17x7 will fit, but ET35 will be very tight or will not fit depending on exact design.
