Same block, bigger cylinder bores means less metal between cylinders. Longer stroke means more stress on the crank (??). Early 6 speed gearboxes seem to have a reputation for being weaker than 5 speed boxes from the same era - in particular thinking of 6 speed E36 M3's.

Top Gear review of the M3, CLK63 AMG and the RS4
Nic325i replied to Driftit's topic in General Discussion
Quite likely trying to forge a link to the original super saloon - the 300SEL 6.3 Besides, BMW are worse - 323i/523i from the mid 90's springs to mind. 320 was a 2.2 at one point also. 540/740 was 4.4 litres... trainspotter mode off. -
They are expensive to buy, but seem to depreciate a lot slower than most cars, so maybe not so expensive over 2-3 years of ownership. Of course the seemingly high residuals could reflect people having an orgy with the options list and bumping the original price up some

Just a quick plug for Zenetti/Johno - thanks for sorting out my tyres, excellent price, and from excellent service. Would recommend anyone needing tyres get in touch with Johno

Not sure about the 3rd brake light, but lack of headrests is not unusual - my old M325i didn't have them either, and was close to full spec otherwise.

Even if that is the official logic it doesn't really answer the question. Having non-functional foglights is no different to having no foglights... It would make more sense (but obviously be harder) for them to test airbag or ABS functionality, which could actually make a difference to the safety of the vehicle.

e30 325i Motorsport debate (Also MTech 1 vs Mtech 2)
Nic325i replied to Gus's topic in General Discussion
Nice and concise. Am I right that the first Mtech 1 models came with 14x6.5" basketweaves? -
Not sure. I found the link to this on Pistonheads. I think it is still all at the discussion stage, so who knows what the final result will be.

This topic seems to come up regularly. Not sure if people have seen this document. Definition of a collectable car seems pretty good. 50/year limit is... limiting

Not BMW, but I suspect that Lotus's (Lotii?) can be had quite a bit cheaper in the UK than here.
-
Indeed - just thought that it might be a more noteworthy number than 1700 watts, which does not sound huge. Jonah's Patrol had something like 10,000 watts (RMS) of amplifiers in it.

If this is the blue 4 door now floating around NZ with a 2.7 in it, it is not an official Sport either - last(?) time it was for sale I emailed BMW UK about it and got told it was simply a 325i. Short answer seems to be no 4 door Sports/M325i's/M-Pakets etc
-
Surely this is meant to be 17000 watts?
-
Fuel light in my M325 used to come on with about 10-12 litres left in the tank, so should be able to do 80-100km after that.
-
My E30 used to beep if temp dropped below 4(?) degrees as you were driving along - normally in the vicinity of Ohakune. Was quite useful as a reminder to watch for black ice.

National Auto Club are reasonable for insurance of otherwise difficult cars.

Irrespective of kits, "official" M325i's were all two doors. And please, no one start the debate about the "difference" between an M325i and a 325i with all the same options...

Western Access is pretty easy to get to from Rotorua - head out of the south side of Rotorua (towards Taupo) then immediately turn right onto SH30 - this crosses SH1 and then heads straight to Whakamaru. Map here

Suddenly the M635 looks like pretty good value! Seriously though, would be hard to justify over twice the price of this, which has been sitting on Trademe for a looonnnggggg time.
-
That doesn't surprise me - surely they'd be advertising all round the planet, only ship it once someone ponies up. Probably fly you to Singapore for a viewing if you were the right person

Peak power @ 5500 Peak torque @ 3500 Redline @ 6500 I think (edited for spelling)
