  1. Welcome Don't bring the is over. You won't be able to register it on the road until it is 20 years old. See various other threads for the details.
  2. I'd do this if I were a cop. Seems fair to me. Another thing I have seen quite a lot recently is people driving while listening to music through headphones. Seems odd to me, and quite likely cuts down your awareness of the outside world - not sure why, but I am sure it would be worse than listening to a car stereo.
  3. VTNZ stations are normally good - no garage, so no incentive for them to fail you unless it is really necessary.
  4. I think classics are allowed to be LHD also - they just fall under a different exemption from that previously quoted.

Not Cain, but from BMW M Registry. I guess this is pretty comprehensive: How is the Australian-spec E34 540i Manual Limited Edition unique? A special production run of 70 right-hand drive E34 540i Manual Limited Edition models was produced for the Australian market between March and June of 1995. These were the only E34 540i models sold in Australia with the six-speed manual gearbox and included all of the standard 540i equipment as well as the following special features: -"Nurburgring" chassis from the European-market E34 M5 with Electronic Damping Control (EDC), larger anti-roll bars and firmer shocks -8x17-inch M System II wheels with 235/45ZR17 tires -ASC+T traction control -model badge delete -Shadowline exterior trim -sport seats -graphite bird's eye maple wood trim -M-Technic four-spoke airbag steering wheel -illuminated M leaher shift knob -silver plaque under the parking brake handle with each car's number in the edition of 70 The E34 540i Manual Limited Edition was officially offered in only the following exterior colors: Alpine White III (300), Calypso Red metallic (252), Arctic Silver metallic (309), Cosmos Black metallic (303), Techno Violet metallic (299), Tobago Blue metallic (256), Petrol Mica (305). In addition, there were three examples in Orient Blue metallic (317), two examples in Oxford Green metallic (324) and one example in both Ascot Green metallic (353) and Arctic Grey metallic (269). Cheers for the explanation. I'd agree that those wheels look aftermarket (Antera?). Given what nice 535's (and even M5's) go for, it may be a bit on the high side at 27k?

Nice and pricey I thought Cain's one was the only one in the country?
  8. Mine is post f/l, has this function - not sure if it has been modified or not.
  9. If the above deal falls through, I'll take all four. Nic
  10. Personally can't stand the things.Bimmer looks mint though.
  11. Sorry for OT, but it is even worse than that - they spend half their sales pitch telling people that the resale on manuals is worse! Most annoying thing is that they tricked mum into believing it :banghead:
  12. In german, but still cool. Haven't looked at the other two. Hartge videos
  13. Should be plenty of good options under $200. Give Newmarket tyre service a call (esp if BMW car club member - I think they do a discount).
  14. My car is around uni most days. Diamond Schwarz, but not a C or K in the plate I'd rather it wasn't seen at the moment - it really needs a wash!

    M3

Seems to me that there might be some people stung in a couple of years - really good looking M3's seem to go for about 7-9 thousand pounds, which is only 18-23 thousand $NZ. In five years time (when almost all M3's will be OK to import) will the price still be $40-60 grand?

    My Angel Eyes

Pardon my ignorance, but I never quite got the point of this - can someone explain. Something to do with people accessing an LTSA computer and then hunting down your address to steal the car? Wouldn't it be easier to trail you home if you see a car you like?

    MP3 solutions

Bit late I know, but I have one of these. Comes with a car charger, and doubles as a nice hard case to protect the pod. The sound is fine - clearly worse than CD, but if I want hifi I'll listen somewhere without tyre noise and tappets. Mine is set to 105.7fm, been all over the country with it (upto Paihea, west to New Plymouth, Auckland-Wellington, round the central south island) and have not had to change it at all. The best thing about it is that it is so easy to use in other cars.
  18. because these guys say so. No more E30's can be registered unless they are 20+ years old
  19. not if you want to drive it on the road - won't comply with frontal impact standards.
  20. I was going to get mine done at Jerry Claytons - until the guy realised that the car was owned by one of their employees and refused to do it for conflict of interest reasons. They recommended BMWorkshop, who did a pretty good job - no problems in the first year that I didn't know about.

    The Hate Thread

I hate the fact that Australia have a chance of retaining the ashes. Fairness and justice would leave only two outcomes - England winning the Ashes, or Shane Warne winning the ashes. After all, the rest of the Aussie team have achieved squat
  22. Watch out for the wheels. Most (all?) came standard with metric sized wheels. Only a few (Michelin, no others I know of) companies make tyres for these, and from what I have heard it is cheaper to buy a new set of wheels and tyres (non-metric) than to buy the metric tyres.

    The Hate Thread

Agreed. Only thing I can think of that i really hate are creationists/"intelligent" design dead beats. Oh, and the sun melting all the snow.
  24. I'm by no means an expert, but if this is the case and the current motor is good, why not swap it out and sell (or trade + cash for the replacement)? Or is this too hard with the link?

    M325 FOR SALE

Nice. I guess when they were selling them as a new vehicle warranty requirements (or maybe older tech) reduced the power - the article I have mentions an intercooler. God (or probably better Stirling Moss) help you if the boost kicked in mid corner.
