Exciting news! After several sets of spy shots, we're happy to finally share the very first spy video of the 2014 M3 Sedan, internally dubbed the F80. As usual, this video provides a much more dynamic impression of the car than photos. No surprise that the new M3 looks very planted as it's sitting fairly low and shows no body roll in these (admittedly) urban driving scenes. Overall, the M3 with its M bumpers and bulging wheel arches looks pugnacious and much more aggressive than the F30 3-series in the F30 spy photos/videos. F30 spy photos/videos. A small video which shows some good differences in having reduced shock stroke length

Slightly more camber and toe out to match will help however will increase tire wear. If you use the car quite a bit on the road its not advisible as it will cause premature wear on your road tires. That spring rate is very hard for road tires and will be heating them up pretty quickly on the track and as you know road tire over heat quickly on the track. As you said you're going to try slicks.. maybe give them a go on your current setup before playing around. I did notice your car was running quite low, im not sure where is good around where you are, but finding a good alignment place and get the car setup for your ride height (dialing back some of the camber). I use Justin @ Tiretech on the shore here in AKL, others have their favourites. Front camber caused by lowering the car will cause understeer unless toe out is dailed in to counter it. If your shocks are adjustible it is possible to have them turned up too much or too little. Its one of the holy grails matching compression and rebound to your spring rate vs your cars corner weights. Something im still learning a lot about still on my own setup. Some things to start with anyways.. hope that helped. ooo also just a note: What works on a smooth track doesnt always work on the road as well. EG too much spring rate can be terrible on a b-road with lots of dips and camber chanes from corner to corner .. it can make the car very twitchy as you 'spring out' from one corner to another. I run a linear spring (not progressive) while its predictable it can be a little bit too much on bumpy roads and unsettle the car..

quick question, why do you think it needs servicing ? (honest question)

Thanks for posting

Have it scanned and get them to check the realtime data the ECU is receiving. This will confirm a cluster fault or speed sensor fault.

congrats man ... driving bimmers before long no doubt!

Hi and welcome 'Im sure a couple of the e92 boys will chime in and explain.

Last ditch effort ... hammer and a large flat blade screw driver... Hammer the screw driver in horizontally all the way through and use it as a handle to open it... you can put a pipe over the handle for more leverage if you have room. Its rough but works. Examine the filter adapter to make sure nothing fell down into it. It shouldnt as the oil filter is not brittal metal and wont leave any metal shards.

How did boats come into the equation ... we are talking about fiber glass bumpers aren't we ? _every_ glass bumper I have seen on a car starts to dull, need repainting or start to ripple. Even down to that horrible white e30 325i with m3 clone kit on it ... that was another good example of a vehicle that had a very good job done to it back in the day, but just couldnt handle the daily jandle when if comes to looking 'right' on a street car. In its case the fiberglass needed redoing as it started to delaminate in the inside of the guards.
-
That and glass doesnt stand the test of time .. give it 5-8years and it starts to turns porous. That fiber glass always goes bumpy and warps after time

Sweet as, can donate if needed ... dont need it any more.

Oils can operate around 150+ while insane hot it totally depends on the oil used. It also depends where the sensor is placed as well.

Oscars old car .. Heres an old photo I took of it straight after its restoration before concorse.. Dam my camera skills back then were hella noob
-
Get back into it Sam ... would be good to javelin some the old crew again
-
Sweet will measure tonight. Cool. New brackets were fabbed up. Its not to much effort to un-bolt and photo so will do so tonight.

Normally the car would operate at 125 .. now its 110.. so the new cooler made a difference. Im going to try giving it some more flow too to help drop the peaks on the track. Telemetry system is bring up some interesting results.
