I actually cant believe some of the posts on here ... not being a d*ck, but how do some of you guys get away with doing your swaps without blowing anything up ? Vanos isnt like honda's crude v-tec system. Its variable and relies on the ECU to adjust. The soliniods are linear stepper motors which respond to a PWM signal (digital) supplying 12volts wont work. If your interested in controlling vanos without a vanos ECU you need to build yourself a contorller which can take a digital PWM signal from RPM and/or crank position sensor and generate a reciprocal PWM signal to control the soliniod and run this from a stored map. Quite easy to do and there are kits from Silicon Chip that make this possible with even hand controllers to let you know what youre doing. Your other option is to lock off vanos all together with a kit say from vac motorsport and run race cams with a single profile (if you want it to go fast) I still think its easy to just get the BMW ECU that was meant for the engine else your killing all the reasons you got a m52 engine in the first place. Obtaining a linkg4 as it has the ability to do this as well.

The m60b40 engine isn't vanos equipped. The later cars use single or double vanos and for the most give you a lower kick feeling you wanting.

3pedal doesn't approve

That _is_ next level .. I love the glass roof

Im not sure if it does or not.. but does the diff have any hard mounted bolts ? I had an issue twice where all of my diff bolts where loose .. it caused sloppy handling and lots of strange noises. I ended up lock tighting them in after the second time it happened. This was after I even cleaned the threads and torqued them correctly. Theyre quite hard to see, and really need socket on them to check.

looks really nice man .... weldone.

Nah.... the whore has both

Happy to scan it with factory software if that fails.

Pull the plugs and have a look, fire some photos up here (800x600 res) they should be greyish in colour with mild carbon build up.. not oily or burnt What colour is the smoke? Have you had it scanned .. my bet by now is the o2 sensors would of at least throw an error? can help out if your stuck with the scan. yeah as kerry said .. did ya chuck desiel in ? other things to check are vacum inlet pipes (post MAF and intake plenium boots) Are you still running your emmissions pump and lines ?

03 330i E46 Sequential Manual Transmission Help

The first thing you should try is having the SMG adaption procedures done. PM M3_Power (tom) for this. This is a standard dealer servcing proceedure for GDSMG2 equipped e46's Flashing the car with new (M3 CSL) shift programs takes stable battery voltage 13-14volts (you can't just use a normal battery charger here) it needs to be a constant source. If the voltage drops the communication through the DBUS pins interupts programming and you end up with a dead (bricked) gearbox computer .. hence high risk. Specailist BMW software is needed (and connection equipment) I can do it, but I wont as I wont take the risk on someone elses car. -
The only chopper capable of such a task is the russian one that get hired down here every now and again. On the contrary 40 foot containers actually weigh quite a bit. and that's empty

That went out of the window since those trampolines with walls started popping up in back yards. Its basically a metaphore what greatness MMP has bred I miss the 80's

yep .. send me a PM to organise.

you guys are going to get on like a house on fire

03 330i E46 Sequential Manual Transmission Help
hybrid replied to david.skinner's topic in Maintenance
Yes .. but its not for the faint hearted (high risk proceedure).. and requires a EGS reflash -
good man .. nice to have another one in the fold!

I kind hope theyre whole company is banned from NZ waters and shitlisted around the world.

That's where lock tight blue comes into play. most high torque bolts require replacing once undone... lock tight is your friend here too. Car looks so well done now... just accelerate the wear of those tires and blame it on their crapness with the wife

Not interested in a trade .. But I have a full (4) set of 225/40/r18 Dunlop Direzza DZ101 for sale with around 80% tread .. surplus to my requirement as I went to a 30 profile for the e30. If youre interested ? not keen on splitting them up, 400 for the lot.

Just get a center muffler / flanged straight pipe for the center section.. Swap them over as you please. Lots cheaper and gives actual performance increases.

The cracked verion of carosoft actually doesnt do a hell of a lot. Reset adaptions and read 'some' live data and codes. Its quite old now and a lot of the functions don't work EG aligning EWS. Potentially dangerous, after using it .. I wouldnt use it again, its very half assed coding.

another epic finish GS Murph for podium too ...
