PS .. Dont f**k up the offset when you do it son ... I will be pissed. It needs to be perfect ... like that 5er you posted
-
Thats your main problem ..
-
My point is before people knock it with out actually driving on it and making calls of It doesnt perform or detracts from a cars performace shouldn't really be posting on things they haven't experienced. Lumping streching as this big bad thing is plainly wrong and Im saying its a variable topic that people shouldnt jump to conclusions on. My only gripe with this whole thread. there is (like usual) a lot of BS being posted here.
-
I dont get it ... what do you call this then ? stretched yes ... for looks yes it looks good. do these tires widths add performance .. yes.. far more than people realise. so is it Fu Raze ... I think not.
-
beadlock and tubes. that would fall into the catagory of super stretched.
-
this is what I would put at the very limit of mild strecthing. mine is a lot more tame than this.
-
You need to increase your tires pressure to around 36psi minimum else this will happen. You cant run around on 32 PSI and expect your tire to keep shape. Its even worse in the wet around a sharp corner.
-
So .. this is a very varible arguement with a lot of misnomas. Super stretch has people claiming it has perfomance benefits when really its just hammering the tire wall and bending it beyound what it was designed to do. Its not something you would do for everyday road use. Mild stretch this can be the oppersite. It infact does have very real benefits to flat wall and can help with running agressive offsets which mean slightly wider trac. anywhich way its looked at has slightly increased performance benefits as long as both front and rear wheels run the same setup. The down side to all of this is your rims are exposed to curbing and more than ever NZ's crap roads.

Awesome! .. not a rugby ball in sight! .. what I like to see.

Great post. I too am going through this at the moment with mine. Flat spots in throttle and intermittant thumps from 3rd to 2nd on hill pattern from EGS. the sh*t thing is I have scanned the car till im black and blue .. 0 codes for me Reset both DME and EGS trims and problem goes away for about a day (while the car is re-learning from what I suspect are 'dull' bad sensors) I reset the EGS and not the DME trims the gearbox firms up but thump still remains. Which points towards engine related sensors and some what rules out a mechanical problem. First round of sensors being changed are: Crank position sensor and the 'Adjuster Unit' off the intake manifold. Next is Cam Position sensor and O2 sensors. TPS etc etc. Have already tried the MAF to no luck. Below shows the signal output from an e46 crank position senor.. Over time they change shape / ampitube just plain go dull. I know its a long shot with this theory of mine .. but its about the last thing after 2 years banging my head against a wall and unfortunitly at $500+ a sensor + labour .. things get very expense very quickly. So using a bit of my problem solving experience in IT I thought it wont hurt to give it a go myself. even if it is fiddling

After many years with mild stretch (265 on 9.5 inch rims) They do indeed handle better than none stretched tires on the street. The side wall is stiffer on harder cornering. The tires are more predictible than flat tire wall versions because there is no grey area in the give. You get near 0 rubber banding around corners. Other benefits are when you run agressive offsets and have pumped your gaurds all you can without major body work. A mild amount of sretching can help with this. Now, Im not saying this is good for the tires. I change my tires to a new set every year so the inside of the tire wall is in good nick, But I have seen heating of the wall in extreme conditions which causes delamination of the inner casing which in turn will just weaken the tire wall and cause worse handling. This hasn't happened to me as my stretch is which in parameters of the tires specs. Stretching to silly sizes is pure cosmetics and increases potential damage to the tire under extreme loadings. You are a lot more likely to damage your rims from rocks and other debris. The extreme stretch is more a show car thing and isn't at all practical for every day use. The common misconception is that your tires can at anypoint come off the bead. This is mostly incoreect unless youre: * Running under rated tire pressures EG: 30 below PSI on a 30 profile tire * Running an insane stretch and dont have the tire pressure to support it + bead lock paste. I run my pressures around 36psi and higher for harder driving.

Sorry about the sound system fellas. We tuned our output so it wasn't to harsh on the ears. Unfortunitly Zen was trying out a new setup for the live input of the sound system. The DJ side was nice and loud but we were down quite a few DB. In the end we had our output set +8db over just to get it up however all this was doing was driving the limiters. That will be the compressed sound you were hearing down the back. The sad thing was our stage monitors were providing the clarity hence was it sounds clearer up the front. We tried in vein to do something about it during the set but as you could imagine we had our hands full. All in all very happy with how it went! and look on the bright side. People went home without a hiss in their ears afterwards.

that e3 of yours is the sex Bellicose

-1 on the swift .. The brother has a swift sport and has had it for nearly three years. Its had nothing but problems with the suspension and bushings. When you look at the components they are a bit too cheap and nasty to last a decent amount of time. The ride is a little bit too un-comfortible for open road driving too.
-
awesome Ok sure .. sounds like a plan looking for an excuse to give the car a proper clean
-
cheers you still have your m3 ? would love to take some photos at some stage.

the s52 isn't a real engine .. all though the yanks would want you to believe it is

Whats "cooler" or better looking in you opinion?

Its all to do with how the car is turned out. An e46 in standard form looks very average in 4 door form. Run an OEM body kit on it (mtech1 or 2 etc) and it looks better than the coupes I think. The rear qauter panels on a two door look too long IMO. The m3 offsets this with breaking the panel lines up with the pumped gaurds so looks normal. e30 I would say 2 door as the car is quite small anyways. e36 I would have to say 2 door also. e90 I would say they both have their merits. But I side with the e90 4 door and especailly in m3 form. Looks far more agressive than the two door. -
E46's came equipped with 19 inch forged as an option and no .. I go through WOF's fine and its not part of my suspension cert plate. Also guys, The seller is the work-wheels importer .. Where I got my rezax II's from
-
for the e46 .. get 19's .. you wont regret it.
-
After sway bar links.. Control arm bushes and ball joints. Sway bars can be more a pop sound rather than a knock. Randomly some times the can be tophat and/or nut not tight enough. (dont over tighten) Another is worn tie rod ends. However you will feel this play in the the steering.

There are products around for this problem for e36 and e46 .. small in tank wells that attach to the fuel pump intake pipe that hold small amounts enough to get around a large sweeping corner on 1/4 tank.
