    HB Hybrid

haha yeah ... might bring ollie (hi tek) too
  2. yeah we came up with it yesterday cause TBH I got sick of hunting out everyones stuff and missing updates ...
  3. tuff dude ... just moving this to projects section.
  4. mine does the opposite. When the ECU changes into its full power map and im into full advance on Vanos its quite amazing. The induction sound is something else too . You'll notice the same thing once you ditch that middle bit. Also the center muffler is that one before the diff yes. There are a couple of interations of the e46 system. I know the yanks got a twin pipe exhaust. Jap models suffered from the single pipe version. It was more to reduce the sound down to please middle age business man market.
  5. hmmm, I would leave the cats alone, replace that mid piece and replace the center and rear muffler with a remus system from woolf mufflers. they have a bit of a show room with some really nice products. http://www.woolfmufflers.co.nz/index.shtml
  6. one of the nicest cars I ever had the pleasure photographing. Hopefully soemone can keep it in the family
  7. This will have adverse effects, If you oxy sensors are on the cat section then defantily not. You must retain your oxygen sensors for your car to run properly. What you _do_ want to do is replace the restrictive piece between the cats and the center muffler and have new boss's installed into the new section of pipe for your sensors.... in most cases it goes from two pips (after cats) into one. It noticibly effects top end performance. I also added a high flow supersprint exhuast system. which added a noticible difference to top end power You can run high flow cats from supersprint which will give you mild amounts of gain.
  8. Running higher boost at that compression ratio he will be detonating. Melting the tops of pistons will happen over time and alot of the time you wont know its happening until its too late, at this time the damage is done. One of the only ways around it is running a methonol setup or lower the compression by either a thicker MLS head gasket (not really recommended) or putting in forged atleast 9.0:1 or lower ratio pistons. Simple facts. He can expect around roughly 100hp gain at 8psi on the s50 setup. The lower the compression ratio the worst the mid / lower range torque curve is, but the more you can boost it, but need really solid fuel control and qaulity components to keep things under control. Its all about finding a balance for what you are actually wanting from the vehicle. At one end you have high HP dyno queens with a very narrow band of actual power and the other mild HP increases but keeping the engines characteristics ... which for the race breed s50 can be more important than other engines. One good thing is the s50 runs as standard oil squirters which help cool things down a small amount. just an example of what we are doing. We are going for a s50b32 @ 8;5.1 ratio with capibilty to run upto 2.5 bar with no issues. with an engine capible of running up to 1000bhp. For this we are running fully forged internals, nitrided crank, ARP head studs / bolts looking into pyrimid rings (may or may not do this) and running a fully custom fuel system and injector setup / fuel rail. (basic outline of things)

    Forum use

Hey guys, This forum has been set up as a journal / timeline for on going car projects. Its not intended for one off mods, please post those in the "showroom" please start the topics with "project name: model and engine" eg: Hybrid: e30 m325i / s50b32 turbo The purpose for the change is to create one place for the guys/gals building cars to document to the community their BMW projects. This space is for BMW's only. enjoy

    e30 m3 kit

Yeap sure am, the panel and paint is the last thing on the list .. the next 6 months are all about the engine and related piping and roll cage. Its still works out more expensive buying an e30 m3 than doing what we're doing, you would also have to spend $$$ on pre/paint to get it the colour you want. Keep in mind we have completely uprated the rear drive train and halfshafts to m-coupe. Also running big brake kit / braided lines all round. So you have to factor that into an s50 turbo conversion, standard m3 running gear wont handle the HP. Interior will also be replaced after all engine and paint work is done.

    e30 m3 kit

fenders / side skirts are the cheap bit. bumpers about 1800-2k each boot / window frame / spoliers = another 5-6k + rear wind screen glass. you can fill the doors to kill the moldings. to do it OEM about 11-12k in parts then about another 5-6k prep and paint for a real nice job. Most people would be happy with just the box guards and mtech 2 front and rear.
  16. I would go get it checked anyway..
  17. looking around $2200 but email link yourself ... they are a friendly bunch.

    Fully legal???

seriously dude ... dont do it .. they are pretty much branded ebay catalog lights. As others have said .. grab some euro clears and angel eyes.. Will look so much better and not trashy.
  19. Interior trimmings is "titanium graphite" (silver matt colourings)
  20. Right, about to take my new e46 coupe seats into to get re-leathered and detailed + change out my leather sedan seats.. I need help with what you guys thing about the final detailing on the seats... I was thinking of doing the m stripe thing on the cross part of the back rest in the left hand corner. but then ollie posted me these .. and Im considering weather I should try something else ... One thing I think will look awesome is m stripes in silver / dark grey / carcoal metallic ribbon cotton. other thought is suede backing and bucket like some of these below
  21. A link g3 plus will be the best bang for your buck it seems... The link ECU by the looks of it seems to be a bit quicker in clock cycles than say your autronics or motec. Yes it will control your s50b3x no problems ... What you need to ask yourself when doing this project is what is your end goal, and what is your budget. Form a plan from those anwsers and work out what products will give you what options for your budget. This will give you the awnsers your looking for with your ECU. But generally from what your asking a Link g3 plus should be more than enough for what you need.
