  1. no worries and THANKS! .. been researching the sh*t out of blue tooth. Im just hoping that the fact my phone runs on bluetooth v2 wont make my beloved phone incompatible with it . . . Will look into that stuff next year as I have an e30 to concerntrate on pouring 10's of thousands into now hehe ..
  2. catch ya later dude! have a great time over there! .. If your still up to dev your NavCoder software the offer is still open to remote into my car for testing ?
  3. new from the states.. US get amazing pricing on parts. You have to order the euro model. Not the US version.
  4. yeah, Its not too bad .. we did it in a night. Brendon and I reckon we could do another one in about 3 hours now we know how.
  5. hahaha was it you I passed down the motorway going north a week ago testing the cruise control ?
  6. Cheers for the comments guys, I think brendon and myself we will be soon offering a sat nav install service for the 3 series. including the steering wheel upgrade about 4k ... The most expensive single part was actually the BM54 pro radio module. They are (even in the world) next to impossible to get second hand, I bought a new one for $1100 Found a retrofit kit from the UK for $1900 which included the 16:9 display and MkIII nav computer, aircon relocation bezel / dash mounts, GPS ariel and other misc stuff to complete the install and ofcorse the Retrofit loom (not the full electrical loom, which is about 5 times harder to install and gives you no benefit what so ever) Also purchased a TV module from a fellow e46fanatic and will complete buying the TV ariel/amps/connectors early in the new year. Went round to see Jochen about 3 weeks ago to have the nav computer coded. He has handed his knowledge onto brendon and myself around these installs we will endevour to keep the knowledge alive. I had to buy the brackets for the nav new from bmw and the carpet formed boot panel. Talking with our contact a JC BMW, he said BMW's offical line is "Its not possible" and is as amused as myself at their stance on things like this. Keith also said they charge about $8500 for the system for new cars. so im happy with the over 50% saving on doing it the long 'buy one bit at a time' way hahaha. Using it, its bloody intelligent. It works 100% as you would want it too and then some. peas.
  7. yeah was! haha .. the wiring was the though bit .. as the CD pinouts didnt match the intructions .. so had to work it out by testing it out and swapping pins. the Nav map screen goes to full wide screen (16:9) I just didnt get any photos of it sorry .. will do it when I have some time tomorrow.
  8. Finally got the full sat nav installed into the e46. Is worth every penny! Enter any street and house address in NZ and go. Was getting a bit worried at 10pm last night when we had the whole car still in 1000 pieces, but by 1:30am, we were testing it out up and down the motorway. Ice link still works. watch this space for audio hacks etc etc big thanks to jochen for the tech info and coding. And brendon for slicing his hands open on all thing e46ness
  9. I dont rotate as I have a staggered setup. The thing is a tires "real" life time is only about 1 year before the rubber starts to go off and they become sh*t in wet weather. 3pedals is right on this matter, its like putting the right shoe on the left foot after having worn in shoes. The sole is worn to suit the way your foot has placed weight. BMW have more camber than most vehicles, this trade off for handling is tire wear. I just buy a new set when my get down to illegal treads.

    wheels

hehe I have a picture with an e39 wheel on the rear of my gaurds widened e46, it still rubbed.. the offset is really different. It is possible to use a e39 wheel with shamphered or stretched rubber however the hub centric ring is too big. (got me back from welly .... just ... ) haha that was on an m5 wheel which had a straight side tire wall so wasn't rubber too bad .. only under heavy compression.
  11. nice work fella looking forward to seeing you on runs.
  12. no point f**king around ... ipod .. then itll work with your stereo in the e38 http://www.dension.com/oem2.php?car_id=837
  13. So .. decided to finish off the MF steering wheel this afternoon. Took about 3 hours as we had to translate / guess swedish instructions. But brendon and I now think we can knock it out in about 30-45mins. I had some fun testing out cruise control up towards silverdale this afternoon, I spotted a fellow bimmersporter with a silver e36 with black / polished dish wheels. nice ride who ever it was ... This install will fit both e39 and e46 and I'm 99% sure x5 as well e46 LCM computer and steering pulled apart. Routing the retro-fit speed control loom. DME speed control wiring. Fuse box behind the glove box, this is where we enter the engine bay. More shots of the DME wiring in the engine bay. Finished, you can also see how the painting of the walnut cover piece turned out. factory black ftw Testing out the cruise control system, nnote the new green light that shows up on the dash to tell you the system is active. Volume control test Radio station / ipod controls And a sneak preview at the next electical DIY we made a start on today Full NZ maps / NAV / TV / Pro Radio retro fit with 16:9 OEM display with ipod video.
  14. legal I vote this thread title be changed to "I DONT LIKE MY EXHAUST PIPE"
  15. don't need a million $$$ ad budget to make those .... Give me an HD cam and ill take my own car out vs someone with cut springs and show the differences in cornering / ride ability. It would take me 30 minutes and be about 10 times more imformative about why your car would get itself into a spin like that in the first place.

  17. sounds like its time for a weekend test drive cain.
  18. yeap... you can pull them off and back on ... but look down the line of them .. they are never straight again.
  19. word of warning with moldings .. as soon as you pull them off the car you stuff them. They will go all wrinkly and never look the same .. its why if you replace them you just buy new ones and paint em or whatever before putting them on. ring JC BMW parts division..talk to keith. they can qoute you and you dont have to buy them if its too exensive.
  20. One of the guys from e46fanantics (tony330cifan) recently went to the BMW museum and snapped off a bunch of pics ... thought it share
