no they are different boxes and driveshafts are different lengths if we are talking about the m20 240 was assigned to 320i 260 was assigned to 325i both will bolt up to the m20, however you need matching gearbox drive shaft note: 318 used a variant of the 240, this one differs to the m20 as the bell housing is slightly offset , if bolted to the m20 will create an issue lining up the shift linkage
