Try a new cluster. You can borrow my one for a week or so and see if the temp gauge acts normal. My SI batteries could do with the recharge anyway. It's probably the gauge itself in your cluster that's dodgy, they are quite easy to change if you get the same cluster as the one you have ie motometer-motometer or vdo-vdo

Surely you mean 245 not 345? Would have thought even 245 would be too wide for your car, my 5 has smaller tyres than that. Replace your rear springs mate. Stock stuff is really cheap. Is the spring that holds the weight not the shock, though you may want to replace the shocks anyway.

Could be the rear shock mounts, they are a common wear item on e30. Replace with e46 mounts or e30 convertible

They don't need the cam sensor to run, I think it's just their effieiency and a second reference point. I don't have one on my e30 m52
