dry compressed air can from tricky dicky or jaycar is golden for that job... wouldn't hurt to get a can of circuit board cleaner and giving it a good spray also..

laptop motherboards are common failures... it's due to the heat they are exposed to... Simple things to try... 1) complete power down, unplug from mains, remove battery, wait 30 seconds try again... 2) boot with no hdd - any errors (check power light on laptop - sometime the bios beeps are actually power light flashes on some laptop) 3) download a prog called memtest (http://www.memtest.org/) it will test your ram out for you 4) you should have a cmos battery otherwise you would loose all your bios settings pull that and power down system as in 1 5) is the system fans running? Very common for the fans to die and cook the system. Espically if you use it on a soft surface as it blocks the intake vents... (stupid designers)

Can you try anouther hdd in the machine? Could be the hdd controller on you motherboard. Probably the drive but it could be other things... If you leave the case of the HDD cover and put a finger on the drive can you feel the drive spin-up? Know anyone with the same HDD as you? you could try swapping over the circuit board to see if it's just the circuit board thats gone, anouther common problem... Had to do that a few times at work...

You don't need 24hours... 30+ min is usually enough to get it running well enough to get some data off it... 2hours is gold, you do have to becareful of condensation on the circuit board when your running it... Also DON'T run it as the main drive... plug it in as a second drive. Also turn off your anti-virus so it doesn't auto-scan the hard drive this will help with keeping the heat down to start with. Perry, it's kinda funny the minute people remove the harddrive from their pc, espically laptops people treat them with kids gloves, but look at the abuse a laptop gets being thrown around, the drives are hard mounted into the laptop so they still get the shock in them... Most drives have to survive a i think it's something like 90 or 120g impact.

There is a fantastic program called R-Studio that you can use. Whats happened to the drive? Is it making any sounds? Depending whats wrong with it i can walk you through how to do a couple things...

Have you thought about hitting up design company? How about print shops, sign writers? A lot of those places use in house designers as a service for clients, have a look at some of the smaller companies - make up a portfolio of varied work from business cards, flyers, photo touch-ups, etc... and go in... some places might be interested... it also gives you work experience in the industry your wanting to eventually get into. Other things, hit your local newspapers classified sections for services for photo touch-ups, simple design work, etc... You would be suprised about the number of people that run their own companies that would need help with document layouts, letterhead creation, etc...

depending on how the splitter is design it can be functional. And i know the 205 is a brick... never brought that up... Just the above M3 is ugly as hell - to me it looks unfinished, it's little things like the height of the start of the side skirt is lower than the rear of the front bumper which creates a bad optical image.... If it was truely fuctional then they would have used something to differ air from the front of the tyre to decrease the drag created. I.E Production cars are not a case of function or form... it's a comprise of everything, cost, target market opinion, company image considerations, performance, safety, pedestrian safety, reliability, fuel economy, etc...
