  1. well a company like shell cannot or atleast should not be fooled by a "rumour" that their core product is fossils fuel when it isn't, they'd have done their own research surely? so.. if oil is abiotic and renewable, it is still harmful to the environment and labelled as the number 1 cause for global warming and polution therefore we should be looking for a substitute. i don't know who "what global organisation" has laid down the law that oil prices must go up as new alternatives emerge but it seems a possible scenario, and from my point of view saving the world from global warming by raising oil prices seems reasonable. it's humans being stupid humans and not thinking about the future, we are too hung up over fuel prices that we choose to ignore that the real issue here is the environment and global warming due to pollution. it's all about sustainability.

    sunroof leak!!

OK my sunroof leaking is the f**king story of my life. i have tried everything and still i end up with an inch of water in my rear footwells and a completely soaked rear seat, i can't figure it out, please help me in all possible ways. would a new sunroof seal simply solve all my problems? does anyone have one in good nic? Cheers Ollie
  3. Hey guys please help me out with my research by filling in a quick survey. the survey is only 30 questions, (mostly yes/no questions) and is very quick to complete, please click on the following link. Smarthome Survey thank you in advance for participating in this project, the results will be posted up here when complete and will make for an interesting read and discussion.

    Wiring Loom

oil level sensor? or oil pressure sensor on side of block just above the sump? if the seal goes on the oil pressure switch oil can get pumped right up through the insulation of the cable going to the wiring loom and hence melt your wiring loom. do you think this may have happened? happened to me except the insulation had a break in it and i had a suspicious oil leak from an electrical cable of all things. i considered myself lucky
  5. and no offence it sounded crap and hung way too low, i distinctly remember that exhaust. 1st taupo cruise.
  6. it has a hologram type plastic case and in the booklet are various "moving images" some rather explicit. the main one is the one pictured in your avatar, when you tilt the case a freaky eyeball comes into view. good album nonetheless, stinkfist = best tool song ever
  7. do you have the special edition cd cover of the aenima album? damn trippy thing
  8. if it the problem happened just after you had an alarm installed then take it back to the alarm people and geth the to fix it, i.e power the alarm from another source other than the rear lights. as for the central locking motor check and clean the connection between the door and the the car. the connection often wears out or corrodes from all the opening and closing of the drivers door. if that don't fix it then just get a 2nd hand motor and whack it in.
  9. meh, not too bad but anyway.

    8' Roof Screen

f**k thats a mean idea! i knew the bonnet opened that way for a reason cos it certainly aint designed for easy access.only trouble would be keeping the screen clean and keeping bugs off the projector lense.

    8' Roof Screen

An 8 foot screen won't fit in your car and if it did, you wouldn't be able to see out the back. If you mean an 8" (8 inch) screen then mounting it behind the sunroof won't be that easy. Remember the sunroof slides backwards. E30's don't have much room in the back so you'll rarely be sitting in there even if there was a screen to hit your head on. IMO. spend the money on something worthwhile, or just give it to me.
  12. the springs and shocks need to settle. also in the back you can remove the rubber spring pads that'll drop it an extra 10mm. i never told you to do it though.

    Home Brew Thread

cheers g-unit all sound advice, i've taken it on board and will do an ale next up before i do the pilsner. i really need a heating pad if i am going to be more precise with my brewing because the garage doesn't retain a consistent temp let alone the right temp.

    Home Brew Thread

I Bottled my first brew in mid march and sampled it at the start of May. It's still lagering a bit but is a pretty full lager and easy to drink. (a tad fruity) My brewers notes are in the shed and it's pissing with rain, but will post up the ingredients later for this german lager. Now I spent 2 hours on saturday sanitising my bottles and bottling my second brew which had been down for 2 weeks. This one i cant wait to taste. It's a leffe blonde beer with 1 kg of malt and 500g of dextrose and some finishing hops. will sample a bottle in a month then 2 months then 3. I bought a sediment reducer today it's a little platic fitting that goes on the inside of the tap it basically stops sediment from into the 'tap' and into the bottles. Next Up is a pilsner. So i'm going well. any tips? My tip is: buy a little sediment reducer and take the shower head off your shower and use the hose with warm/hot water to clean and sanitise your bottles in the shower/bath/shub. I use glass quartz bottles because they are easier and less of them to clean and capping them is fun. i bought some metallic blue crowns off trademe. happy brewing  p.s this is a pic of a tap and the sediment reducer beside it.

    need help

agreed.unless you need the extra air flow, ie if you have a massive turbo.
  16. i must admit i've left my rear fogs on without realising it, it's quite easy to do. i only use them for reversing in a dark area at night because there seldom is fog to use them in. people who use any lights on a perfectly well lit day are just wasting that little bit of power it takes to run them. (little bit)
  17. "e30 fog lights look cool when they are on. the 2 round headlights on their own look silly" this i feel is most peoples reasoning for using them.

    cheap LSD's

they don't make phantom grips to fit e30 diffs, was going to make another one and test it.what you say about pre loading the diff is true but like gus said i'm going to give it a go anyway because i can easily get a replacement open diff. i'll be trying different spring rates and stuff to see if i can get a balance between performance and durability. i don't believe that the spiders will weld themselves to the diff casing i do believe there will be an amount of wear on the inside of the spiders but since when does a stock e30 put out enough horses to put that much strain on the diff.
