    Wheel Bearings

Hello All just a quick story about my front wheel bearings that i replaced about 2 years ago with skf bearings. (e30) as you may know the front bearings on an e30 are a sealed double bearing unit. After 2 years both of the skf bearings i put in have rusted inside and resulted in excessive play! now obviously water is getting in there some how and there are 2 ways it can get in fron or back of the bearing. The front of the bearing is protected by the push in cap which no way can let water in, i even sealed it with gasket sealant. MY VERDICT ... the rubber seal at the back of the bearing (which is meant to be a sealed unit) simply pops out and hence water gets in through the dust shield at the back. (the original FAG bearings are a different design and the seal wont pop out it appears to be fixed around the outside edge, and theys lasted 17 years with no sign of rust.) Has anyone had similar experiences to this with their bearings? skf in particular? (please correct me if i am wrong) I am going to try and get skf to replace the faulty bearings and when i install them i am going gum up the seal at the back around the outside edge at hope that water stays out. i can put up photos if it is going to help with my explaination, just ask.

    Browsers

same goes for me. firefox has some great add ons (extensions). my favourites (other than IE Tab) are: Tab mix plus - each tab has it's own loading bar so i can open a million tabs at once and see what is loaded etc.. some other cool features. Switch Proxy - great for laptops that you take to work and connect to a proxy server then come home and connect direct, swap multiple proxys with the click of the mouse Forecastfox - Keep up to date with current and 5 day forecasts, very customisable to suit your needs, i love it. and for those of you who havent figured it out yet, use middle click or scroll wheel click to open links in a new tab most mice are set up to do this.
  4. same goes for the back windscreen? I'm thinking of re-sealing the back windscreen because i think that is how water is getting into my boot and back seat.
  5. they've made a really go job of turning that into a race car, very tasteful

Bimmersports identity has always been white on black contrast. As you may have seen from the temporary home page the new branding is orange, white, black and shades of silver/grey, The reason for this is because we wanted to create a stronger identity and black and white didn't cut it, the orange was chosen for a number of reasons, one being andy loves henna, others more serious. As for this forum skin, it's a stocker from the invision website and is the closest (although not that close) to what the forum will eventually look like. hope that answers your question, all will be revealed
  11. So far i'm working on the skinning of the new site, once that is nailed and sorted the forum will be integrated into the site and share it's skin, i'm big on fucntionality and style at the same time so don't worry. it's good to get feedback about what people like though, keep it up. The skinning will take a while longer because its for the whole site and has to take into consideration many functional parts of it. bear with us.

if they think branding a car like that is cool then what ever, kinda cracks me up but yes not very culturally sensitive is it, who were they to know any better though.
  14. when performing an alignment the mechanic normally puts a brace on the steering wheel to hold it level and aligned, he then makes his adjestment to the tie rods etc.. and when done the wheels should be inline and so should the steering wheel, if they arené then hes a f**king twat. only exception to this is if your steering wheel wasn't near level in the first place, and therefore it'd be up to you to take your steering wheel of and line it up. conclusion, get them to do it again properly.

by not quite i mean i don't use the spray tint that you can buy from repco i mix the paint myself (i've tinted some light gun metal before) and use an airbrush then seal it all with a clearcoat. This way i can get dark - light, glossy - matt and its a professional finish that lasts alot longer. You can buy tint in a spray can from repco i think. pm me if you want some lights tinted
