  2. it does seem like the car is stuck in sports mode, however on the dash it switches between S and A and normally the car resets to Adaptive after it is turned off

73kW is pretty bloody good for an old stock 320
  4. Auckland driver Gene Rollinson has again raised eyebrows across the Tasman with a strong performance at Queensland International Raceway last weekend in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship. Some Bimmersport Members may know Gene, he drives an E34 5 series BMW on the street. Stepping back into the Race Image Motorsport Falcon for the first time since Adelaide, and having never been to the 3.12km Ipswich circuit before, Rollinson finished a creditable 11th overall for the round, even breaking into the top-ten in race two. "It's fantastic to be back in the series" Rollinson remarked. "I haven't sat in the Supercar for 5 months, so it was going to be tough re-entering while the other drivers have had a few rounds under their belts." Teaming up again with Race Image Motorsport, whom he drove for at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide earlier this year, Rollinson spent the Friday practice sessions reacquainting himself with the ex-DJR Ford Falcon and also learning the circuit. "The track is very deceiving," he commented after his first run. "It looks simple on paper and in layout…. it's anything but! It will be a case of getting the simple things right." Still coming to grips with the track and car, Rollinson qualified in 20th position. However a good start and ability to stay out of trouble saw him make up 7 positions to finish 12th in race one, a race which was marred by a number of safety car periods. Starting where he finished, Rollinson again had a solid run in race two, making up 2 places to finish in 10th spot. "I'm happy to make it into the top ten, this is such a tough competitive class," he said afterwards. "We changed the car overnight and I struggled with oversteer on older tyres, so we'll go over the data and make a few adjustments for the final race". Starting from 10th position in the final race of the weekend, the 23-year-old ran with the front bunch for most of the race, eventually finishing in 11th place. "I'm happy with that," he reflected afterwards. "We didn't get the balance of the car exactly right, and we were a little down on horsepower compared to a lot of others, but ending up 11th overall is great, especially with a clean straight car! When you look at the calibre of other drivers in the series, such as ex-main game drivers and former championship winners in Supercars, Porsche and F3, it puts the achievement into perspective." With the possibility of generating further sponsorship over the next few weeks, Rollinson and Race Image Motorsport will again team up at Winton Raceway from the 1st to 3rd of August. "Winton was where I made my V8 Supercar debut 12 months ago," Rollinson said. "I had never driven a Supercar before and finished 9th overall for the round. It's going to be good to know the track, but the best thing will be the consistent seat-time of racing at two rounds in a row, which I haven't had before. You need to be driving these cars all of the time to know how to get the most out of them. I've only driven at 3 Supercar rounds now, each at 5-6 months apart, so I'm looking forward to it." "Hopefully we can impress a few people and put together a package to run for the rest of the season.' 2008 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series Rnd 1 Feb 21-24 Clipsal 500 meeting Adelaide SA Rnd 2 April 4-6 Wakefield Park NSW Rnd 3 June 7-9 Sandown Melbourne Vic Rnd 4 July 18-20 Queensland Int Raceway Qld Rnd 5 August 1-3 Winton Motor Raceway Vic Rnd 6 October 09-12 Bathurst NSW Rnd 7 Dec 4-7 Oran Park Raceway NSW Source: nzmotorsport.co.nz

    15' Weaves

yeah they are the right ones martin. they will sit a little bit further inside the guards than ET15 or 20 but won't rub on anything.
  7. by just been serviced, i mean a couple of months ago
  8. no the change is still the same, smooth.the trans has just been serviced so i doubt changing the oil will fix it. any other ideas? i am going to disconnect the battery over night to see if the adaptive trans resets? see if that works.
  9. E34 540iA Adaptive transmission with sports mode. on the motorway on ramp today in sports mode i decided to put my foot down to accelerate up to 100km/h or thereabouts, once i was cruising i put it back in Adaptive mode. However I could not get it to change up to 5th gear, i was stuck in 4th doing 4,000 RPM at 100km/h. Not ideal! So determined for my car to change up to top gear i put my foot down again and as I hit 5,500 RPM and approx 140km/h (in my driveway) it changed gear. OK cool hopefully this won't happen again. But it did, and after i had stopped and turned the ignition off etc... it will only change up to 5th gear at 5,500 RPM, which is always going to be 30km over the speed limit, not ideal! Help?

    E28 Race car.

    no roll cage yet?
  11. that story is so old and yes, useless. Thank you
  12. yeah unfortunately that was not an official round in the series for us so it wasn't filmed i don't think. Shame really, I did some spectacular wet weather drifting round castrol, would have looked great on TV. I just pushed the brake pedal a wee bit hard just after the esses and it was sideways into castrol, sideways through castrol and sideways out of castrol. Now i know why drifters do it, it felt great to pull it off without spinning out.
  13. Yeah that and ... "watch out your radiator, or you get same like me" with a pic of a jaguar engine. I mean come on, you can't be serious. I cracked up soooo hard.
  14. I think it was just assumed that we would get discounted oil. the sponsorship is financial sponsorship for the series, exactly what the money will be spent on I don't know. I'm guessing it will go towards promotion, organization/admin, TV coverage, reduction in entry fees? etc ... either way all should be kept transparent and we can watch as the series grows into something we are proud to be a part of.
  15. sh*t i'm going to have to watch out for my radiator or I will get a bad picture of an engine and terrible English language skills. Those radiators .... WATCH OUT FOR THEM!!
  16. make sure you use water based lube though, oil based can cause irritation and also cause the rubber to break
  17. yeah what he said, just lube up the outer lip a bit and slide it in, slide it in and out a few times though to be sure.
  18. pressurise up the system with one of those proper pump things to find the leak. hopefully it's just a hose or clamp.
  19. ooo sarcasm ... this thread is crap
  20. i love everything about those cars in the video. so much badass. DIY everything! JDM YO! I especially like the guards and the deeeep dish rims with over stretched tires on the yellow one!
  21. is this car set up for drifting? i'm keen to get into it ...
  22. never pay to have any work done to your car without first getting a claim number from the insurance company. Some claims do take time to process because an assessor has to confirm that the car is worth fixing and that it is a legitimate claim, unfortunately you have to wait for all that to happen before you can get your car fixed. what insurance company are you with? good luck
