  1. Depends on bang for buck at this stage.. just shelled out $15K for the car and plan on getting the wheels repaired/painted plus new rubber and tints so little as poss depending on what get's done. The car will become a bit of an ongoing project over the next year or so... I'll be looking at beefing suspension and brakes/wheels and then do an engine/box build & swap later... all of which takes time and money... My ultimate goal would be to have something that looks smart, handles well and is fine for day to day use plus the odd track day hillclimb etc... a toy basically
  2. Hey all, looks like I'm finally taking delivery of my E46 318ti M-Sport on Thursday and really looking forward to it. I was wondering if there's any fairly simple, relatively inexpensive but straight forward things I can do that'll improve performance while I save the reddies for more serious mods later? Air intake? Exhaust? Computer tweaks?? Any ideas/suggestions? Cheers
  3. Yeah, orange is a bit too bright for me too, but I like what he's done otherwise......
  4. Not sure if you guys had already seen this hot 318 compact but thought i'd post a link anyway.. pity it's a diesel but give's me lots of ideas for my ride.
  5. Thanks for that, will get in touch with them.. anyone know of a company on the otherside of the bridge, say Penrose area??
  6. I'm finally about to take delivery of my new toy (E46 318ti M-Sport) but noticed that it has some minor kerb damage on all of the rims. I heard that this can be fixed? Anyone suggest where and by who? May also look at getting the wheels painted a slightly darker colour as well, gunmetal maybe.. we'll see.
  7. Hi Ray, looking for a centre console for an E46 compact, black in good cond, preferably with the armrest? Can you help? and @ what price? Cheers
  8. Smartass.. I meant can you get the discs etc? Do you burn music onto them like a CD? I've never used them That I did'nt know either...
  9. I'd be keen to see your feedback on the F1's.. my 02 318ti M-Sport arrived from Japan this week and I had a look at it as soon as it arrived at compliance.. among the things I wanted attneded to was the tyres.. they passed WOF.. barely IMO because the rears especially were starting to wear on the inner edges. I reckon I've got about 6 months life left in them. I test-drove a 316ti Msport earlier in the week and the tyres the guy had put on it made it track like crazy.... not sure what they were but I'll try to find out.
  10. I downloaded the instructions to change the radio in my 2002 E46 to "Oceania" and it took all of 10 seconds.. no band expander, nothing.... would it work on the older one the OP is talking about??
  11. Is the head unit a CD or Tape player?? My new toy has the Jap MD head unit.. got it re-set to NZ radio frequencies but have no idea what I'm sposed to do with the MD player. Already has the stacker in the rear. Oh and before you pull it out.. make a note of the serial number so it'll work in the next car...

    A little male bashing

What's the difference between between a hooker, mistress and a wife? While having sex; the hooker screams "FASTER FASTER!!" the mistress purrs "SLOWER SLOWER" the wife say's "BEIGE"........ "I THINK I'LL PAINT THE CEILING BEIGE" How many supermodels does it take to change a light bulb? Only one to hold the light bulb... plus a hundered paid assistants to make the room revolve around her.

    A little male bashing

Or as my ex-wife used to say: "Why are men like floor tiles? Lay them properly the first time and you get to walk all over them the rest of their lives" Hence why she's the Ex... The word WIFE is defined as "Washing, Ironing, Food and Entertainment" What do cyclones, hailstorms, flash flooding, fire and your wife all have in common? Sooner or later one of them is gonna get your house.

    Here my euro plates

The Euro style ones do look good.. but cars that are imported from Japan have a different shape mount, slightly narrower and higher than the NZ standard plate. Wish Plates.co.nz could do them in a similar shape/style so they'd fit better.

    Paintjobs

Anything but Cameleon..... Lime Spider Green maybe?? (kidding) The shape world really lend itself to a dark two-tone scheme.. maybe black top down to the trimline and then dark gunmetal or something down low.. combo that with some polished mags (dark centres) and it could look pretty mean IMO
  16. True but then so are the 850's which for someone born in the 60's is still a modern classic..
  17. If were all dreaming here, put me down for a McLaren F1.... or one of these
  18. So they can drop the sheeps back legs in to stop em running away
  19. Being an Aussie myself.. I'm pretty sure if I looked hard enough on the web I'd find a photo the explains why Kiwi sheep farmers wear long, loose fitting gumboots too!!... But that'd be lowering myself to you level..

    Auckland Supercity

I've been through this scenario before in Australia when what was Albert Shire, Currumbin District and Gold Coast Council all combined to to become Gold Coast City. Sure there were a few teething problems, mainly associated with levelling out rates (which are dearer than here BTW) because some people actually had a reduction, believe it or not. But all in all after a few years once it was all sorted things worked much better. The local groups still have a voice and elections for local representation. My father worked for Albert Shire council (works) at the time and he had concerns about losing his job.. in the end though, no-one did.. not one. In fact that peeved some people coz they thought they'd get big dollar incentives to take a redunancy. The best thing thast came out of it though was in infrastructure because there became only one set of accounts and budgets to deal with which meant that capital project ran smoother and were cheaper overall. Personally I think it's a good idea here too. Take a step back and look at what we're currently dealing with. There is an area smaller than the geographic size of the Gold Coast that has 5 councils, each with their own rules and regulations etc etc. Then just for fun throw the ARC into the mix and there's nothing but a very costly sh*t fight over urban development that is in my opinion choking the whole region. As an example, consider the new Manukau Harbour crossing and motorway project currently under construction. There we have Auckland City, Manaukau City and the ARC all involved in different aspects of the same project. It was in planning for 12 years!!! No doubt at significant cost and why? because each of those bodies required different bylaws and plans to be complied with. Interestingly Manukau gave consent for their side of the prokect to proceed over a year ago and Auckland is yet to grant consent for the final section because of a disagreement over funding with the ARC. Add to this another issue, namely the local Onehunga residents trying to get Transit to live up to a promise it made (in it's former government life) to rehabilitate the Onehunga foreshore that was destroyed when the first bridge and motorway were built in the 70's. After battling through the RMA, Transit agreed to provide $18M toward the project since they had saved cost by not being granted consent to build a "Berlin Wall" style overpass northbound into Onehunga. Auckland City agreed to chip in but because the ARC refused Transit had no choice other than to proceed anyway in order to complete the work prior to the 2011 RWC. Then lets add rail infrastructure that crosses into all the regions..... local roading.. public parks and sportsfields we could go on and on and on.
  21. I just thought that since the sedans & coupes could share some parts, the same (E46) compact could also. I'm considering swapping out the googly-eyed front end for something resembling the M3 or CS... not sure yet.
  22. That'd be great thanks....
  23. Was wondering if the bonnet, front guards, bumper, headlights etc from say an E46 sedan or coupe will fit straight onto an E46 compact? Like I said probably a dumb question....
  24. Naagh.. I'm not worried about a few sticks n stones.... I saw the discussion about the ANZAC run, would've been good too but alas no bimmer just yet will definately keep an eye on future meets tho.

    Wiiiiiiide E24

Love it!!.. looks uber-aggresive.. bit like an SS Storm Trooper!! Probably the only thing I'd change is to tint the tail lights a bit to blend in with the rest of the car.
