Tell me more about the two manual gearboxes you have. I may take one off your hands. Is one by any chance suitable for a 1990 (facelift M20B25) 325i? I want to replace my current leaking one at some stage (if I can be assed, I am semi-happy living with the minor leak that will never get any worse) Cheers

I'll give you a $100 for them and can even pick them up when I am in Hamilton this Sunday.

Blair Have a great day, and a great night and sink a few for us. Hows the E36 repair going? Far off being on the road again? Cheers
-
Shelley Best of luck getting it repaired. It would be a shame to lose a good E30. Cheers

Often it is impossible to see or avoid a pothole until it is too late, especially on New Zealand's great roads. But hitting kerbs...yes that is the result of bad driving.

I really don't think that any real damage is being done...but yeah as you mentioned, preventative maintenance is always cheaper than reactive maintenance. My point was (sorry, I wasn't overly clear) is that I have had my tappets adjusted on a number of occassions to eliminate the noise, but they still make noise. I was told not to worry about it, and I haven't (and no damage has been suffered to date). However I do have very minor cam lobe wear (but again, not enough to worry about at this stage). Good luck, I hope that the noise is eliminated, and at least you know with the BM Workshop, your car is in good hands. Cheers

Even after adjusting them, they will probably still be noisy. Mine have been tap, tap, tapping away for 5 years now. Just live with it, it is a BMW trait. Cheesr

I think that the fact that their are often kids and young children on bikes etc in the domain, and people giving their dogs a run etc which make for a stupid idea to drive in places like the domain at any speeds higher than those recommended. There is a time and a place for everything, in a highly frequented public park, potentially dangerous driving is not the done thing. Cheers

I have seen in the flesh and also heard shocking stories about TSW's too, and seen some nasty wheel buckling after hitting potholes etc.I wouldn't buy them. Cheers

wow look at that finally find a set of bottle caps just wen im getting rid of the car loltypical knowing my luck RyanI might grab my two bottlecaps back off you, if you are getting rid of your 320i. Cheers

That is awesome. I could see a certain Henna Red E30 Coupe doing something like that. Cheers

Great victory for Murph. He (and Rick Kelly) did well and kept out of trouble. Great race, plenty on incidents. Poor Kangaroo. Who could say that it was gay?

I am set, have the projector set up, and have a screen that takes up most of the wall. Also have the home theatre hooked up, so it wil be almost like being there. Awesome. Cheers
-
Yeah the V8 Brutes are awesome. Also most of the drivers are just rich guys who can't drive too well, so the results are always funny.Good entertainment. Cheers
-
A great well constructed educated arguement here. What's gay about it? The Aussie V8 Supercar racing is some of the best closest tin top racing in the world, with Bathurst being the pinnacle of this. Not too much gay about that

Yes, they are very good. That is where I take my car to when I need to, and they haven't let me down yet. They get work done quickly and efficiently, and when they say they will. The level of service is excellent, and the workmanship is good too.

Who are you wanting to win? I am going for my old favourite - Castrol/ Perkins Motorsport VY Commordore with Paul Dumbrell/Tony Longhurst/Steven Richards/ Jim Richards at the wheel. Jim Richards is a legend. Apart from that I suppose I will be cheering for Murph. Cheers

Thank god it takes longer to take a Momo steering wheel and a fluky sounding exhaust, otherwise I'd never be able to leave my car unattended.Cheers

Saw it yesterday (thanks to Andrew). Awesome piece of Bling. Hate the vents (gills) on the front wheel wells. Hate to have to keep it cleaned and polished though. Cheers

Nice looking car. Great purchase. Welcome to the site, anything you need to ask, don't hesitate to ask, despite appearances there are some bright cookies around here. Cheers

Yup, I am pretty sure that all E36 M3's are able to be registered here when imported. However, there are so many of them coming into the country, that they are getting cheaper and cheaper anyway.

Unfortunately, I think a perfectionist and like to see things done right. As for pricing - ie, the "over inflated view" (to which, for the avoidance of doubt, I don't take offence) - I like to think that other people have a sensible view of what it costs to get an M3 on the road. I don't think I got much change out of $40,000 to get mine on the road, in the condition it is in. I think my comment was aimed at the fact that you are probably around the money for a good example (I will say minimum $40k to $50k) but what buyers must factor in the effort it takes to get an M3 on the road in New Zealand. For me it took over a year and included times when it looked like I wouldn't be able to get the car on the road. Not many of us would like being faced with a $35,000 track car sitting in the garage. I guess I factor in a premium for having taken a risk in doing what I did (ie, paying $25,000 for a car that I had seen two polaroid photos of). All I ask is that with "limited edition" cars, people ask themselves the question: "If I could source one from overseas (usually sight unseen), get it here, convert it, and put it on the road, how much would it cost me?". Recent overseas sales have included an Evo III for CAD$65,000. I am not sure of what local sales have gone on, but to be honest, there are very few M3s in New Zealand that I would buy (see the fact that I am a perfectionist above). There is a lot of crap around - the yellow and black CHC example springing to mind. Still, price is what most of us would argue about in any event. As we all know, the minds of the buyer and seller must meet for a sale to take place. One day, when my fourth wife is filing for divorce, I may have to sell the M3 and find out! Cool, glad you didn't take any offense, certainly none was intended.I agree that there is some considerable cost to getting the car to the standard that you want it to, once you have got it in NZ. Here's hoping you never have to sell it!!!! Being a lawyer, you must know some tricky way to protect it in some way so that it can't be ever taken away from you. Cheers
