I am thinking that by writing his autobiography that he actually 'quit'. I'm sure he realised that the day he planned to release it was his last day as The Stig.
-
I think you mean "as opposed to" as it the "opposite" of.
-
Looks like good fun. Good way to end the life of an old worn out car.
-
You wouldn't want to live anywhere near me. Mine are f**king loud, and I encourage it. Nothing worse than a kid that is not free to be themselves.
-
Yup - that is close to what I was imagining!
-
The earthquake is the lead item on the news here. THe news here makes it sound worse than the news in NZ does (but that is pretty typical for the US media outlets who tend to make things out to be worse than they really are)
-
The initial reports I have read have indicated that there are only minor injuries to date. I hope that remains the case.
-
I was in a meeting this morning (it is still Friday for me)m and my boss interupted it to tell me there had been a big earthquake in NZ. I immediataly left the meeting to get back to my compter and find out more. Hope all you South Islanders are OK.

Wow, that looks like you have done a great job. I honestly expected to open this thread and see something that resembled a dogs breakfast, but it is quite the opposite. Nice work!
-
Nice work! This well and truly trumps my gun and bullets suggestion.
-
Gun and bullets! Although I suspect that this might land you in a spot of bother, so I don't advise this as an actual course of action.
-
Haha - that is a very good idea!
-
I thought the same thing
-
That is a very nice car. I hope they get what it it is worth.

Would you now read the book? I'm guessing you would be more likely too than if they hadn't revealed itHarperCollins aren't the spoilsport. I would suggest Ben Collins is for writing an autobiography at age 33. It is not as though he is at the end of his career.
-
I'd prefer the golf as well
-
I don't know why people are having a go at Harper Collins. They are in business to turn a profit, and not pander to pander to a few people and keep a badly kept secret a 'secret' How many books do you think they would sell if some guy called Ben Collins wrote a book? My guess is stuff all. How many books will they sell if you know the same guy is also the Stg? I'm guessing a shedload more.
-
I see that it has been confirmed that Ben Collins is/was the Stig. "...publishers HarperCollins said in a statement that a 33-year-old racing driver named Ben Collins "has a great story to tell about his seven years as The Stig, which will appeal to a wide audience beyond just motoring enthusiasts."

I agree, which is why I think Linden seems to have a leg to stand on in this case.My point was that this is the only job of the police, and the make, model or capabilities of the car is completely irrelevant. The arguement that "officer, my car has a turbo and an LSD so I can't help but lose traction for 5 seconds at every intersection" is just stupid.
-
Very interesting. There we go, all you driving experts keep an eye on the situations vacant section at the BBC, they might have an open vacancy soon!
-
and therefore if the driver of such a car is unable to drive it without being able to keep it in control the whole time, regardless of weather and road conditions, then maybe they should be riding their push bike.It is not the job of the Police to determine what kind of car it is, how powerful it is, or what kind of diff it has. That is a completely moot point. Their only job is to determine if there was a sustained loss of traction. Nothing more, nothing less. It is irrelevant if this was done in a Fiat Bambina, or a Shelby GT500KR Mustang. Again I'm not passing judgement is this case, and think that Linden seems genuine.

Why else would you do it?
