    Mud Flaps for Gus

I let Gus loose under my car with a hacksaw.....was that risky or what??? However my car survived and lived to drive another day, I therefore would have full faith in him with a hammer. Cheers
  3. Yeah, I was thinking that maybe, but I replaced the Idle Control Valve about 18 months ago, when it used to idle badly all of the time....maybe the one I put in is a bit of a dud? Is there any way to test this? Cheers
  4. Yup - I couldn't agree more with you Bimmer Boy. I think that the reduced scope of the site, will assist in the reduction of silly and pointless posts, and keep the site more focused (however I am sure that silly and pointless harmless posts are still welcome, for a bit of light relief). It would be a shame for the site to disappear, as having a NZ based BMW enthusiasts board is, in my opinion, a valuable resource - one that should be encouraged, used wisely, and not used as a place for public arguements and disputes. Maybe...I am partially to blame for the recent actions and contraversy on the site, and I am more than happy to accept this, however I feel that the site was going downhill, and maybe this recent contraversy was just the catalyst that the site needed to trim down, pull its socks up and refocus, before it just disappeared like many of the overseas ones (like e30sport). I think also a very big thank you needs to go to Andrew and Dave for their efforts in setting up the forum, putting up with all of the crap, and having the intestinal fortitude to make the changes when they are needed, and to keep the site up and running. Lets clean this place up guys (and girls) and keep it clean...we can make it work here, and it is up to us!! Cheers
  5. Hi All From time to time when starting my car from cold, the idle is all mucked up. It will pulse (sorry best word I could think of) inbetween the normal 700rpm up to about 2000rpm. This does not happen all of the time (maybe 1 in 10 times I start the car), and it quickly settles down after about 1 minutes driving. It is not a real bad problem, just more of an inconvenience. Any ideas? I thought that it might be the flap in the AFM sticking a bit, but this seems free and there seems to be nothing that makes it stick. Cheers
  6. Yup - Andrew is right, Tim did buy that Strut brace. The ad is just a little old. Cheers
  7. Awesome...bloody good to hear Dave. You will be a much happier man now. Cheers

BTW, good to see they included your BMWCC result in the club's magazine. You had a very nice tidy car, it deserved the high mark that it got (it beat mine!!!) Cheers

    Mud Flaps for Gus

yup, he has always had my business. Last time, when I had leaking injectors, he loaned me a sale car (not a loaner) for a week, picked up my car on a trailer from Cambridge, and did not charge me any labour for diagnosis time, and also gave me the injectors at trade price. I really only just paid for the fitting of them. He is a bloody top guy. Have you bought stuff of him much? Cheers

    Need New Tyres

no, with the standard 14 inch alloys, 195's are the best size to use, I feel. I get no understeer at all in the wet. I am just running the standard suspension, but will change this reasonably soon, but not to anything radical, just Jamex springs and Bilstein Sportline shocks...it won't really lower it (just 20mm). The cosmetic look isn't big on me, actual real world performace is more important to me. (not that I have anything against people who sack their cars...just not my thing). but...if I did put bigger wheels on, I would have wider tyres. I had as good control as could be expected on Taupo racetrack in the weekend. Cheers

sh*t yes, he is the king of wrecked E30's.Have you ever noticed how many wrecked 635csi's he has lying around? Cheers

    Mud Flaps for Gus

exactly...I know SD European did have a set, my written off E30 320i facelift went there.Give Steve a call on 0800 269 772 Good luck Cheers
  16. I thinkwe have a winner....Anyone pushing 280hp to the rear wheels of an E30 deserves an LSD more than than the rest of us. Cheers
  17. Ollie, Looking good. Yours would have to be one of the cleanest, subtley well modded, best looking E30's around. Good work...keep it up. Cheers
  18. if it is LSD, I'll offer you $5.00 more than Gus does (within reason).... No, I wouldn't do that, Gus first in, first served...but if anyone does want to sell a LSD, think of me. Cheers

And what about the dryweather performance of those Yokohama's?Marcel They are above average....not the worlds greatest, but I can corner pretty hard and know that I will actually make it around the corner....but if I over push it I also know that it will come unstuck. My priority was good performance and grip in the wet (as this is where I am most likely to come unstuck). I am a lot less confident of my abilities as a friver in the wet, so was more concerned assistance in the wet. Cheers

    Hows this for Speed?

in saying that though, the 318i does serve a purpose and is good at it. It is just not a high performance sports machine, it is a good economical 4 cylinder car. BMW do have bigger and much better engines, but still have to produce the smaller ones to serve this part of the market. For example, my parents have an E36 318i, and it is perfect for them. Cheers

Marcel I have heard nothing but good comments about the Bridgestine SO3's. But unfortunately they are a little costly in NZ. I am very pleased with the A539 Yokohama's now. They performed very well on the wet BMWCC Driver Training Day at the Taupo Race Day. They held the car solid in corners where I thought I would start sliding. Cheers

    alittle help please

The 325is is known as a 325i sport. No-one is pretending that it is an M3, but it is still classed as a sports version of the 325i.Just like the 318is (a bloody good car, and as ThreeTwoFive has said, I would like one of these too) is a sports version of the 318i. Cage, I think that you are missing the point here. No-one is saying that a M325i or a 325is is an M3, or as good as an M3. We are just saying that these cars do exist from the factory and are a sports version of the standard 325i (which basically means better suspension, LSD, body kit, sports seats etc). Cheers
