    Rally Drive NZ

Nothing was mentioned about the road testing for the public. However Dale said that he has taken over the management for 12 years of a portion of the forest and controls the activity in that portion (it is a substantial sized chunk), so maybe that is part of it, he did say that they were putting a 4WD track in there too (when he saw me turn up in the Wrangler) for pulic use. But yes, it took a while to get used to actually hitting the go pedal all the way through the corner not after the apex. But I figured that the instructers aren't there to get themselves killed so when they said to go faster that it would be best if I did!! It was also unnerving that when you started to lose it and get a bit sideways, that you actually just put the power down and turned the steering wheel where you wanted the car to go, and it corrected so well and without any fuss at all. What car are you doing the Gravel Sprint in? Cheers

    E30 Parts

I have 325i AFM, manifold and throttle body (but in saying that the 320i and 325i parts are identical - even some of the same part numbers etc).Getting air into my engine is not the problem, my problem is getting the right amount of fuel to mix with the air athigher revs. Cheers

    E30 Parts

Yeah sorry I did ask him, he got $1100 for them, there was some kind of stuff up with the bidding. Also I tried a variety of ECU's and settles on a 325i one (even tried a 530i and 535i one, but could 'feel' no advantage). I think that the 325i one has improved my car a lot over the 320i one I had, it seems to keep pulling well after 5,000 rpm's now (actually up to just over 6,000 rpm's)...an improvement (but still not ideal). Cheers

    E30 Parts

Hi All For those of us who have aging E30's I have found a good supply of parts for them. The guy's name is Ray, and his phone number is 021 162 5615 (he is happy to be approached for parts). He is wrecking a fair number and range of E30's. He is located in Orewa. I went and saw him last night to get and try a few ECU's (Gus, the one he thought was from a South African 2.7 M325i didn't fit as it was for pre-facelift and only had the two rows of connector pins, i.e. it wasMotronic 1.0 and I needed Motronic 1.3). Before you ask, he doesn't have any LSD's, and you would be behind me in the queue. Cheers
  5. What is most important, above all, before you make it go faster is to make it 'stop and turn'...... Where have I heard that before???? Seriously, drive it a while and get any small niggles sorted out (there are bound to be a few), then when you are confident that it is all 100% then start making any mods to the car. If it were me, I'd go for handling improvements first (some sports shocks and springs). What you'll find with the Ti is that it does handle pretty well as the wheels are right in the corners of the car. They also look good with aftermarket wheels on them (no huge chromes or anything, but some nice 17's look good, maybe M3 replicas). Good luck, I hope you get great enjoyment from your new purchase. Cheers

    Car Cleaning

Yeah, when Brook had her Toyota we took both of them down to Car Fe, I got the $35 one and she got the $75 one, afterwards we could tell no difference in the work.Still, it beats me doing it, as I don't do a very good job at all. Cheers
  7. No worries, Tim (Bumpstop325) bought that one ages ago and it kept being advertised.Just as well the club has a decent webmaster now, and things are only kept on the for sale section for the right amount of time. Cheers

    Car Cleaning

I get in, start the engine, travel south down the motorway to Greenlane, drive it into Car Fe, hand over $35 then sit down, have a coffee, read the news paper and then hey presto it is clean. Seriously...when I can be bothered doing it myself, I use a soft sponge for 90% of the car (all of the metal painted areas) and a car washing brush for the rest. I also make sure that the sponge is rinsed out thoroughly often to get rid of any dirt (and small scratchy bits). To answer your question, for a lazy bugger like me, it is worth Matthew Ridge getting his hands dirty and doing some real work. Sometimes I do tidy up bits and pieces that they miss, but they do a pretty good job. Cheers.
  11. I await to be proved worng with baited breath.Cheers
  12. yeah, the E30 320i sport (or is it an M320i) is awesome.Cheers
  13. Thats strange, I have all of the last 3 years 'Dixi' magazines (the BMW Club Newsletter) sitting on my desk (I got copies of them all to make sure that the Club library has them all) and I can't find any mention of Racing Dynamics strut braces for sale anywhere in any of them. You must have your wires crossed. It would seem strange to be able to buy them in NZ at about 1/2 of the price tha you can buy them in the USA. Cheers
  14. Are you taking orders? Is there a Racing Dynamics distributor in NZ, if so who? (Is it the BMW Dealers?)Cheers
  15. Yup, bang on Carl. Where from Grant, and how much? I got mine second hand, and paid the princely sum of $50 for it.However new they are US$229.00, and to get one landed here you would be looking at somewhere in the vicinity of NZ $400.00. Cheers

I just did that, but didn't see the super stone chip option anywhere on the delivered options for your car.....

    Rally Drive NZ

Yeah there are three options. The rally school which is 2 days and costs $895, the rally experience which is one day and costs about $400 and the hot laps cost $160 or so (from memory). Cheers

    Rally Drive NZ

I thought it was very professionally run right from the first minute to the last. Also there was a good mix of driving and theory, and the tutors (Marty, Dylan and John) were awesome when you were actually in the car.Ours was pretty much incident free, one guy put the mirage through a fence, but the damage was only minor (the front valance was knackered). Ther mirage was hard work though and was very very slippery. The Evo 4 was my favourite, it was so smooth and even though you actually felt like you were going a lot slower than the Evo 2 and 3, you were actually going a heck of a lot faster. Cheers
