I've got one from an M42 E36 318is. I could bring it to Christchurch for pick up if you would like. Call or txt me on 027 55 55 116 if you still need it. Cheers.

Keen to see also. Eventually I have a M52B28 swap in the works for my E30 coupe so will happily jump on this train as well.
-
Sent you a PM regarding engine a couple days ago. Flick me a message?
-
Is this a single or dual mass flywheel?
-
What a stunning piece of kit! Now only if I had the M3 to put it on... GLWS!

I had done a bunch of research as one of my Dad's E30s had a damaged factory oil cooler which we decided to delete in the end. My conclusion was that it isn't needed (for example the 525i M20 doesn't have one and that is a heavier car) for most purposes and modern oils are more robust (although the M20 does really prefer a higher zinc content than most new off the shelf oils have). An oil temp gauge would help as then you would know if the thermostat to the factory oil cooler ever gets hot enough to open. It might be worth trying to test to see that it does actually open as some forums have suggested that they may end up sticking over time. If you do want to return to an oil cooler setup it may be better to do something like run a Mishimoto thermostat/filter adapter (pretty much the same function as the stock BMW part) and reuse the factory oil radiator - then you can pick what oil temp you want it to open at and you have the reliability of a new part. My opinion is that for daily driving and going for the odd weekend hoon about you will be 100% fine without the cooler. If you were doing track events regularly then it might be different, keep in mind you can always put it back on too. =)

Cops and the 4 kmh over posted speed limits
Autobahn replied to FIAT 131R's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I'm thinking that overtaking anywhere OTHER than a passing lane is the better bet actually. It certainly seems to me that if you get pulled over here in NZ you are always going to receive a ticket if at all possible for them to do so. It's a shame, as I genuinely thought I could have an honest and rational discussion regarding the circumstances of me using a passing lane for its intended purpose. On a slight sidenote - what do you think of radar detectors in general? Do they work well enough to be worth the $500-800? I have been thinking of getting one for a while now (not that I speed on the open road much) so I have a little bit of warning for speed traps and the like. -
Cops and the 4 kmh over posted speed limits
Autobahn replied to FIAT 131R's topic in General Discussion
So after reading this thread I'm guessing that I will have zero luck getting the Police to reconsider a 112kph speeding ticket issued in a passing lane last week? I was quite disappointed as the officer and I had a friendly discussion, and although he agreed that despite my immediately returning to 100 after passing, and not doing anything unsafe he just gave me the "well it was kind of bad luck to be you - here is your ticket attitude" I really think that the demerits for using a passing lane for its intended purpose are more than a little excessive. It just strikes me as entrapment when they are all camped out on their revenue gathering blitz. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
Somebody must have one laying around!
-
A 2.7 is tempting in and of itself but I really just need a replacement head right now. Somebody out there must have a decent 2.5 or 2.7 885 head laying around!
-
I'm looking for a good 885 head. I prefer to have a complete head but would consider anything as look as it is is good condition. I'd also consider a whole M20B25 if the price is right.

Oh man someone got some killer deals on those, a 260 is always useful to have around as well! Was watching the start of the auction but got distracted and missed it. =(

One thing I do want to chime in about is that you want to pay close attention to where your engine looms came from/out of. Did your car have ABS or did the donor 325i have it? I mention this because only SOME looms have a power wire that goes through the C101 connector, that will cause a short if you have an ABS loom in a non ABS car. Which makes lots of burnt wires and smoke - ask me how I know. The good news is that this is super easy to check for (you can just peel back the rubber covering the C101 plugs and look) and also super easy to fix. As long as you know about it that is. More info here http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/C101

Your account does not seem to receive PMs. I have a known good E39 fuel pump. Contact me on 027 55 55 116 if you are interested. Cheers, Ernie

If a 320i works for you, I have two PFL E30 coupe project cars available. One is a straight South African rolling shell, no sunroof, a few minor rust areas The other is a a complete car with left side damage (door and sill, mostly) that is fixable. I could sell the complete car or strip it down to whatever level you want. Both cars are within an hour or so of Christchurch.
-
Really? IMO Style 5s are perfect for E28s and E30 (if you have the time and money to convert to 5 stud). Or did I misunderstand?
-
I'll take them - assuming they haven't sold yet. Perfect for a project I'm working on!
-
Hi and welcome! I would say that is a fair estimate of the current prices, you may find exceptionally tidy cars for around $20K - but most are in the range you mentioned. I have seen that imported left hand drive M3, and I would say that the reason it hasn't gone is that most people dont want a LHD car when right hand drive models are still somewhat plentiful. What price difference between LHD and RHD is a matter of personaly preference but in general I would say that a LHD car will be at least $2-3K less than an equivalent RHD car.

Attempted to send you a PM - but apparently your inbox "cannot recieve any new messages". Looking to purchase the manual conversion setup, flick me a message?
-
My pedantic streak immediately went "but there is no such thing as S52 ITBs". Looks like a really cool build though , I hadn't seen it before. At the price though, I feel like you could make your own...
-
Wish I could help with that, but if I had one it would probably already be on one of my E34s. Since price doesn't seem to be too much of a factor if you are looking at getting one from BMW Germany - have you tried looking on Schmiedmann? They have a good selection of new and used parts so you might be fortunate enough to find one. http://www.schmiedmann.com/

WTB E30 Fuel tank to Filter hose and Radiator Drain Plug
Autobahn replied to LemonHunter's topic in Want to buy
I should have what you need. Facelift or pre facelift E30? -
Yeah in my view, the E36 M3 is massively undervalued in the market. It would break my heart if you parted out such a tidy and well taken care of car. Here's hoping you find the right buyer to take car of it and enjoy it! GLWS

Looks very tidy, GLWS!
