  1. Their before and after pics do look impressive
  2. +1 on this I think it is like $150 and Joe can do it in about 15min. No hardware changes etc - just recoding and all sorted. Getting nav sorted does involve extra hardware (gyros etc) but it does work a treat. I had Eurosurgeon do my radio and nav for $748 (they come to Welly regularly) late last year, but after having the CCC die on me and getting it replaced by Autosure i have not wanted to chance a repeat (CCCs cost heaps). So I've left the nav in Japanese and only had the radio recoded Bit of a waste of $$ from the nav but I don't want to risk another CCC failure and have an argument with Autosure who honestly have been fantastic to deal with. I don't think Eurosurgeon's mods caused the CCC failure - it looks like whatever numpty (PO/car yard) put a band expander(why!?) in the car did some substandard wiring and also unplugged the cooling fan - over time (and the summer) it cooked. Bluetooth etc costs buckets so personally I think radio is good. Eurosurgeon can sort an Aux jack easy enough ...
  3. Yes I reckon an E38 740i M-Sport would be mighty tempting!

    95 E38 740i

Nice - would have been better thematically if it wasn't a M41 and was a Panzer of some description... would have been 2 German tanks
  5. GLWS Ant! This wagon is a beaut and I would have bought it if I hadn't picked up my X5....
  6. Looks very nice. Not many sedans around in white and I quite like it. Price seems reasonable.
  7. So 'tis M-Sport Dunno what 175kw is like in an e38....
  8. Looks to have body kit and wheels - can't see if badge is on steering wheel - the pictures are very crap. Breakers E38 740i M-Sport doesn't have the rear M badge and doesn't have Motorsport sill badging either. So I think it probably is a M-Sport...
  9. Lotsa fun I suppose See you at one of the Welly meetups in the near future and GLWS! - Pete
  10. Ah thought it might be something like that I'm seeing if my wife is OK driving my E60 rather than he Mazda 6 liftback . . . not confident! GLWS - it's a beaut but more than i like to spend on cars
  11. Dude - isn't this what you just bought after just ditching the AMG E500? Is that police car in the background watching to see if you were casing the car?
  12. Yep true - not cheap after the required fixing is done
  13. ~$6K so pretty cheap and very nice in silver but has an oil leak and some upholstery work required. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1063954394.htm But I have enough cars... :\
  14. Very nice - Remus probably sounds great - the standard E60 exhausts are a bit too refined. One reason I love the X5 - it *sounds* great
  15. Cheers - looking at their gallery the results are *amazing*!!! Will put this on my 'to-do later' list
  16. Vero underwrites Autosure and also the MTF MBI plan I put on my X5. If you are doing a private purchase (like my X5 was) then you can ping MTF Mt Victoria (I can provide details) and they'll sell you a MBI. Bear in mind that there's 2 tiers of MBI - I put the 'Extreme' one on my 545i - and the Vero ones have Gold and Platinum with differences not just in claim limit but also what is covered. I've attached all the docs I got from Jono @MTF. If you're after a Motorsport Touring 550i my mate Ant has one for sale here in Welly - has 75kms on it and *lots* of extras for $24K. MBI covered parts.pdf MBI Gold average claim costs.pdf MBI Gold rates sheet.pdf MBI Platinum average claim costs.pdf MBI Platinum rates sheet.pdf
  17. Very nice - why doesn't she want it anymore?
  18. If you're worried about big ticket items then slap a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance plan on it - Autosure/Vero/Protecta etc. I put a 3 year Autosure Extreme plan on my car for $1200 (dealer did it at cost). It's a bit of money but reduces the risk of 'argh - %$^^#'' surprises. My 2004 545i has had 3 claims since buying it at the start of October - engine oil seals (hardened 12 year old rubber - tiny part but a reasonable bit of labour) water tank (old plastic) iDrive unit (i think it cooked after the muppet who put a band expander on the stereo disconnected the cooling fan). I'm expecting/hoping for relatively plain sailing for a while now. From my experience Autosure are great to deal with - my mechanics reckon they are very good too.
  19. Nice! FYI anyone after one of these - a mate at work has just bought a new Highlander and is looking to move his blue 550i M/Sport Touring. Ping me if you're interested. I can't justify trading up from my 545i when I only bought it in October and after just buying the X5
