Welcome to another E60 owner! As others have said weight+ power + RWD + rain = care required Never had run flats on my 545i so haven't experienced the difference. Just a question - do you pick up a MBI/wty on your vehicle? From my experience very worthwhile (admittedly with older vehicle).

Welcome from Welly to another E60 owner!

Sheesh Mark - sounds very frustrating. I've had Active Steering warnings on my E60 when I've had the car parked on the kerb overnight - but this has been sorted with a re-calibrate. Good luck with getting this sorted - at least Autosure are good to deal with. I've just been through both sorting the brake warning trifecta on my X5 with a (re-repair) to the ABS control unit and a compressor switch replacement. My advice to anyone picking up a moderate age/kms BMW is always get a MBI and then still allow up to $5K for sorting stuff out - unless you are getting something absolutely immaculate and with a significant service history!

You can talk to MTF Mt Victoria and they will sell you a Vero MBI policy on a vehicle you already own but this should be done when the vehicle has a relatively clean bill of health (for ethical reasons of course). Vero service is excellent. See one of my other posts for the costs and coverage types.

Hey Scott - congrats on the getting the 550i I've had my 2004 E60 545i since October last year and have had the oil seals on the engine done as they started leaking right after I got it. I have a 3-year AutoSure MBI plan (thank heavens) and the dealer covered the repair excess. Just today I've had it in for another oil leak and this time it is the main seal on the gearbox which is again a small part but 10hrs labour to get it sorted. Another MBI claim - making in total 4 claims in less than a year. engine oil leak waterpump self-destruct CCC (iDrive) death gearbox oil leak I do love the car but old plastic and rubber only lasts so long - yours is newer so hopefully you don't have to deal with so many things for s while. I'm hoping that after this year I can reduce my spend - as I've also replaced cracked cupholders, worn door trims and a battery. Glad I didn't spend more than I did buying the car in the first place ($14K w/MBI)! Perhaps I see Japanese cars in my future again . . . Good luck sorting the oil leak issues - If you don't have a MBI you should totally get one once you have the current issues sorted.

Talking with the guys @Driscoll Motors yesterday and in their opinion E39 M5 or Merc W211 E55 are *the best* performance sedans to own. If I hadn't bought *both* my BMWs in the last 9 months .... very tempting to replace E60 with this!- 16 replies

My E36 Coupe Stolen Today from Downtown 'Secure' Carpark
TermiPeteNZ replied to eeee36's topic in General Discussion
Crap - very frustrating. Often the camera quality is appalling too. Had a (push) bike stolen from my work carpark and the coverage was crap and the quality was atrocious. -
All sorted with a ~$200 aftermarket regulator. As usual - more bust plastic! Driscoll Motors said 'at least it isn't a Volvo - the plastics are terrible on them...' I do have to pop back as the airbag warning light hasn't been reset after the work was done on the door Oh well...

Just had a rear passenger window stop working on my X5 - youngest son put the window down all the way and heard a clunk :\ Can hear the motor going so sounds like it is a regulator issue. At least it wasn't raining!!!
-
Nice combination with the kit and the wheels. Low kms for the vehicle's age!!

Welcome Graham - haven't driven a 330i myself and will check out your video

Relatively unusual model and I'm sure it goes great - it just looks a bit bland :\ http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1119895413.htm The Trade In Clearance place seem to often let their stock sit around for a long time rather than tweaking prices and moving it. I looked at their silver X5 SportPac before buying mine and they wouldn't sort the steering column (wouldn't move) and let the sale walk out the door pretty much. "Would you look at sorting that out?" "No." "Seeya"

Seems like a reasonable price - includes the $8K!? hard top too ... Apparently it is a 'rear' car too! http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1121173703

Nice Like your 3rd pic - great colour tone and very crisp image.

My mate's one went for around $25K last year ... but he did put up crap 'artistic' pics That's what you expect from a Porsche driver (now) tho $39K is an impressive price.
