  1. @Kees ONLY a 997.2… haha that’s an amazing car.  My Mum drives a Golf and I was happy with that until now :)

    I know a guy selling a 2015 RS265 Megane in P North, well I know of him as he offered me that as a trade on the GP.   See the comments.   He might be willing to sell it your way.

  2. That’s a fairly short list of European car love bites hehe!  Keeping you keen by keeping things interesting :)  is a very tidy GTI Kees, looks nice and they are rare here in NZ.

    You can get the whine and similar fun from a Cooper S at 1/3 price of a GP, reduction pulley and a few tweaks.  And have a back seat.  Am not sure which would be less reliable out of that, a GP or your Pug!  If you’re in Wellington anytime you’re welcome to pop it around some corners, if I still have it.

  3. I had an R56 JCW with that engine: Went well and had no trouble but first owner had already had it decoked before 40kms.  Traded it for an F20 116i 🤔.

    It might be a case of “never meet your heroes”.  Cars are a funny drug.

    Love the Gp mini.  Is it really stiff as people make it out to be?

    Generally no.  As in ride you mean?  They’re not worse, much, than a Cooper S or normal JCW which means you don’t take bumps or kerbs lightly but in return you get go kart flickability.

    In this one’s case, it is set up at the moment to be firm and low which means the ride is “taught and unforgiving” euphemistically.  It can be adjusted but it’s best to assume it is firm.

    Was flicking through a classic car magazine from January 2019, and I decided to have a look at the for sale section to sulk about classic car prices from 3 years ago. After seeing a 993 911 for 32K, I turn the page and see a familiar looking red e30.

    @E28E30

    Spotted!

    Aha Kees! @Kees that’s the one, two number plates ago.   I have found that article online before too, seems to have been a cherished car.

    Makes you cry about that 993 price!

    Not holding my breath for their counterparts in Wellington to offer the same - captive audience here 🙄

    I asked them about this a couple of months ago and the person I spoke to said  “It is an Auckland thing, we may bring it here”.  😕

  7. I agree.  Having been on the end of some far less scrupulous secondhand car deals with buried issues and felt let down by humanity, in contrast you’ve behaved as well as anyone could be expected to.   Your conscience should be clear; but acknowledge that it feels “off” to be in your situation.

    And as you say, 16 year old high performance, complex European car.  It has a leak, admittedly an annoyingly expensive one to address, but that’s the nature of the beast.

    Paying $2.68 here for 95 at NPD.  The BP up the road is charging more than that for 91.  BP is always expensive as hell.

    I never go to BP, they often never have 95 down here and just have 91 or 98 at ridiculous prices.   They do have nice peppery steak pies but I can be agile in my choices of cuisine :)
