Wow Kees @Kees that’s looking good, thank you for the story too, good read
I have done that highway the other way, also picking up a new-to-me car in Auckland and driving it back to Wellington. I missed the turnoff to the central plateau and ended up doing that long way too! Ha know the feeling.
How was economy, not bad?

My fiend has a towing business that does police recoveries etc: apparently one of the most stolen cars too for joy rides.

Corolla, if reliability and cost are top considerations. Golfs can be “ish” but $1k/door central locking failures on Mark 5s, aircon compressors on 4s and earlier 5s, 1.6 manual Mark 5 transmissions fail.
And maybe finding something that runs on 91? Nothing European in this price bracket will be “set and forget”, maybe find out what the post-purchase repairs budget will be and if you/someone else can do maintenance and tweaks?
Might be being the voice of doom lol

We used to have registration bands based on safety ratings or similar but they got rid of that. Next step could be UK-style emissions bands which could be in the mix?

It is a great looking example with those upgrades.

That’s the base set up eg for some 316i models. No clock, centralised stereo etc. looks nice and clean. In some models the dash had no rev counter so had a big clock instead. So made sense to have only one clock or as per this late model example, no clock. IIRC the first LCI 316i models had the no rev counter look then the later ones got a rev counter?

I think about that too. But these are funny times. If a 325i and original maybe the “10x” @lord_jagganath? But you just never know

Meanwhile in Dubai https://www.dubicars.com/1992-bmw-m3-current-location-japan-455013.html
150,000 AED is about $60,000 NZD for an E30 M3 with 56000kms.
You’re probably right, however that sounds like a good price in Dubai. Add on the freight, tax and compliance costs, it goes up. Not to $100k for sure but there’s probably a premium on not having to worry about doing all that yourself, too? The Coronavirus bubble appears to have plateaued or even shrunken a bit?

Grrr a process of elimination!

Defo PM me @adro nearer the time (but sort out all the niggles first :)))) hehe). Would be keen to have a chat about it depending on how the current fleet looks then, got the R53 GP back from the painters yesterday having sorted out cosmetic work and it is looking good. Few more minor niggles to address then to the market it goes!

Oops sorry @Sammo, raw nerve. Have to wait and see. I am surrounded by houses here on my back section and mostly it is okay

Can’t you build three x 3 storey townhouses now?

I’d never heard of them before, they could look good on the right car.

But it has just had its “radio frequency upgraded..!…” 🙄
(isn’t that just a setting to change region to Oceania?)
