  4. Reconnected the E36 battery to start the day. Went a little like this: E36 > Silverdale Bus station > CBD office > Wiri CDG Depot > X5 to Hamilton > Huntly > Epsom > Home > E91 to pick up E36 > cool wee pic of the midlife crisis mobile and family travel wagon together.
  5. I managed to snag a beast of a Thule box. It fit's all the kid's stuff in there, plus a guitar case, plus a set of golf clubs, plus a fold down step stool so my short ass can reach up to the box... And then some. Problem now is if it's off the car, it occupies a tenth of the garage - so I guess it's staying on the car for summer! 😂
  6. Dang, that's a great deal!
  7. Do you know of a decent sized roofbox available for sale? Can go pretty long 2+ m on the roof. We have OE BMW roof racks if that means anything. They're not slimline, or whispa or whatever the latest roof rack technology is. New/retail wise, any experience here with Hapro? They seem like a real good price point brand on paper. Any other thoughts or recommendations on what to consider, or avoid?
  8. Any E91 rear trunk roundels floating about by chance, inc grommets? P/N: 51147166076
  9. Very sharp pricing, interior looks lush!
  10. Bought new v-belt, thermostat, waterpump, and crankshaft pulley for less than €350. Febi, Meyle and GT Automotive (trusted UK brand).. Though to be fair, I did save a bunch on shipping as a mate is flying soon from the UK to NZ! 😄 Merry Christmas to the N57, may she live on another 200k kms!
  11. Yep I'm waiting nearly 2 weeks now for a replacement fan belt for the clothes dryer, via NZ Couriers from New Plymouth. Tis the silly season.
  12. Unfortunately lost crankshaft pulley today, but stopped the car as soon as battery light popped up on the dash to diagnose and saved her before overheating! I haven't found any new pulleys available via local channels, and this close to Christmas I don't expect to land anything in from overseas until next year so I'm putting this out there on the very rare chance someone has a replacement harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley kicking about. Belt Drive-Vibration Damper: 11237800385 (click for realoem) New or used ok to get up and running in the short term. Thanks, PJ
  13. Hey team, On the small off chance, would someone have a Genuine BMW 'backrest protector and child seat protector mat' kicking about? Maybe your kid's grown out of their car seat and you have no need for the mat anymore, and wouldn't mind passing on to another budding BMW dad fella (me). I can offer payment of beers, dollary-doos, a firm handshake or crisp hi-five, or an excellent personal reference for your resume. Part number: 2448367 Supercedes: 82122406213 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=2448367 https://www.bmw.com/en-au/offers-and-services/bmw-original-accessories/accessories-page.bmw-backrest-protector-and-child-seat-protector-mat.html Thanks! 14. Hands down one of my fave hill climb drivers thanks to those Judd V8s. RIP fella!
  15. While this thread's been dug back up @*Glenn* - here's a cool memory of my questionably styled Hellrot facing off against your NZ first Ti + M52B28 conversion (don't quote me on that) down Meremere. From memory, we faced off twice and had similar trap times and what a bloody good day it was. And another of you, @BM WORLD and I having a chinwag. Loved that 535i Brent! Good times.
  16. Bugger, I feel your frustration in this situation. I haven't chased the issue with BMW, but had a VW Golf Tsi slip a tooth with a similar timing chain tensioner issue. In the end paid a local shop $4.5k for a recondition as we couldn't source a used engine. Giltrap quoted 14k, another local outfit quoted 8k with others ranging somewhere in between. If I were in your shoes, I'd be escalating with BMW as this is a known potential catastrophic failure point globally, so if you've had no advice from BMW during servicing, or any warning symptoms, it does seem a bit raw: https://www.google.com/search?q=N47+timing+chain+tensioner If you run out of energy for the above, I'd get on the blower to Ray and Sam @ HellBM for a fair cost solution. I blew a M20B28 in an E30 some years back and the team at HellBM were incredible to swap in a known great condition B28 within a lightning fast window.
  17. Costco NZ tips/observations from a grumpy mid 30s fella: - If you're going to order food, do it before you start your shopping. - You also don't need a card to order food, so if you want to sample the 'Costco experience', go in and order a hotdog with the masses. - Your Costco US card is accepted, no need to re sign up. - The Aus sourced red meat doesn't hold a flame to NZ red meat, though they do have some larger cuts more readily available than your local butcher or supermarket might. Good for a big barbie or cook up. - Most grocery items are comparable in cost to a Pak'n'Save special, or Tai Ping regular price. - Fuel's comparable to NPD or Waitomo, can't beat Riverhead Caltex. - Vitamins/supplements are cheaper at Chemist Warehouse, which shouldn't be an issue shopping at if you're considering Costco. - Returns are a breeze. Mrs got caught up in the consumerism and did a decent clothing shop, got home and realised some were cheaper online or from local NZ stores and others she didn't actually want - just got caught up in the consumer-spend mentality Costco market so well, and returned with no questions asked. Best use of our card to date is boxes of Stroopwafels (you're welcome if you haven't tried these before).
  18. Reconn'd a M50 single vanos unit. Wasn't too difficult, and immensely satisfying feeling the shaft play before and after. Bought this kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175584427927 Followed ECS diy: https://blog.ecstuning.com/diy-bmw-single-vanos-rebuild-kit/
  19. Long shot, but anybody have a Z3 shifter matching any of the below part numbers floating about before I source from overseas? Z3M: 25117527254 (supersedes 25112228384) Z3: 25117527252 (supersedes 25111434148, 25111222086, 25111222904)
  20. BMW rates Mahle as an OEM provider.. It differs from part to part, but I generally trust whatever BMW utilises for OEM - eg off the top of my head (from E30/36/46/9x experience😞 Elring - gaskets, seals Mahle - oil, air, fuel filters Delphi - coils, sensors Fag - bearings, cylinders Have had great results subbing in Febi/Bilstein, Swag, Rein, FTC, Mann - but depends part to part really. Think Lemforder makes Febi, Mahle, Mann etc anyway - so that's more in Mahle's favour(?) - could be wrong on that! Also if you chuck another RockAuto order in - 5% off RockAuto orders: Code: 230130626206754042 Expires on May 26, 2023, 12:00 Midnight CT
