Thanks mate Yeh, Tom - do you recommend another brand or just OEM?

Good job, mate! Love seeing maintenance threads like this. Beauty of a beast.

Ahh the new M5. Haven't been lucky enough to sit in the cockpit of one of them! Look gorgeous though. Closest I've gotten to a 550hp BMW was an M6 which was insane to drive! One day the F10 ...

Sounds great mate! Thanks very much. Yep with what I've been reading apparently the dash is A LOT easier with 2 people Cheers Tristan

Thanks for bumping this up, Julian. Appreciate the effort you made

Thanks Tom! What's your reason for avoiding the Powerflex bushings (genuinely curious, not a smartass reply!) And yeh... Evolve.. Haha that's on the "Dreaming" list. Interior leather dye eh... Will have a Google - What're your suggestions on it? Yeah, I've been quoted $2,200 for reupholstering. Genuine Italian leather, any colour combos + 3 year warranty though. Probably a similar cost to second hand seats as well (?) The two tone wheel is black and dove-grey. Will post more pics tomorrow. I plan to do a leather restore. I think you mentioned a product you recommend for this in another post somewhere but couldn't find it.

Great to see another E39 M5 on the forum. Love the interior and the E39 shape. Looking forward to seeing how you progress with it!

Hi mate I bought the part from Team McMillan and fitted it myself quite easily. I can't remember who I asked but they said that I needed to have the windscreen taken out (and associated higher cost) but I'd read on the M5Board(?) that it could be done without removing. IIRC part was about $130. Have a Google, there's a guide around somewhere. Edit: Here you go http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...rim-replacement

Glad you're liking it! Will have the stock exhaust for you next week, when that's in it is barely audible though!

Booked in 2 cars this morning Our BMW and 996 Thanks very much!

New headlights aren't cheap for the E39s. I replaced mine when I got the car, from memory it was $6-700 a corner.
-
Congratulations guys! Awesome to see how much you've grown I'll be having a couple of cars tinted through your special.
-
Have not had the same issue but back when I was buying replacement headlights for my car (crappy aftermarket ones when I got it) I saw them on TM. Edit: Maybe call one of the wreckers on here to see if they have.

These pop up on TradeMe every now and again (new ones).

More a theoretical exercise. Thanks for that input Apex.

Uh huh... Right. I really just wanted to hear people's opinions on each car (if you refer to the first post) and wanted to hear why they felt that way. And to find out from people's experience which car they preferred if they'd driven both and learn the differences between them from that experience.
