E30s have leaf springs at the rear, don't they??
-
Its all personal opinion, of course, we all have them and mine is: 15s look too small 16s look stock 17s look about right, the best compromise imo 18s can look ok, depending on the style of the wheel, but too often look wrong 19s are starting to get ricey and normally spoil the car's aethetics 20s look ridiculous and I'd hope no-one here would do that to their BMW You, of course can have whatever pleases you, but it is a poll, so opinions are expected and given.

Just try not to get one which goes 'chirp chirp chirp chirp' when you set the alarm. They are f**king annoying, not to say gay as! Any alarm which makes any noise at all when it is set or reset is crap, imo, but the worst I've ever heard was one which 'spoke' when anyone got too close. I can't remember what the 'conversation' with the alarm was, 'cos I was too busy rolling around holding my guts laughing at the wanker who'd install such a monstrosity in their car. He failed to see the humour of a bunch of people all laughing at his car...

Filtering through it all, *sic is right. You want your car to handle like a racecar - great - it can be done, BUT it will drive dreadfully on normal NZ roads. Racecars are configured for racing tracks - nice smooth roads. You want to lower your car so it will handle better - great - it can be done, BUT it will drive dreadfully on normal NZ roads IF you don't do it correctly. All in all, it seems you'd just like the best cornering possible, is that correct?

Same size as original. Large bore for ricies or Holdens.
-
Do you mean a thicker-walled pipe or one with a larger bore?

I've done it 3 times (3 different cars) and this is what I've found: 1. louder/nicer exhaust note 2. No difference in 0-100 times 3. no difference in revving 4. no difference in fuel consumption Basically, I wasted $100 - $120 each time I did it, if I was expecting any performance difference, but the exhaust tone note alone made up for it. I used a Coby as a replacement.

My daughter-in-law-to-be has one (a Honda) you could have .... please. The oil and rusty water from it on my drive sluts me right off!!

ROTFLMAO @ cainchapman. Yes it was a Cordia indeed - well done. No, I am not, nor have I ever been, a hairdresser. I bought the Cordia at at time when I was buying a new car every year and was on a Mitsi kick! I wanted a Starion, but it was just too dear. I later started doing the same with new Fords. These days I realise what a mug's game it was....

I'd say Coca Cola is the win if you need to drive. Just a thought - most people will condemn someone outright for driving drunk, but I know in my own case, I've been very guilty, but never been caught. Therefore it'd be rather hypocritical for me to blast you, or anyone - but I do! Its the benefit of being an old fart - we forget how bad we used to be. I haven't drunk for many years now - since I found out that alcohol is a poison to my system (so are prawns). However, when I was under 25yo, I was pretty much constantly pissed, stoned or generally out of it and I drove in that state a lot. I was a very irresponsible (and damn lucky) young person.

Sounds fine to me. About 400 years ago I had a Fiat 124 Sports Coupe in which the seat fabric wore, then tore. I had an upholsterer replace the fabric with black leather, so I had tan leather on the outsides with basically a black leather stripe down the centre. It looked very smart in a sporty car of the time.

Where would you like them to go to?

I agree with Damian. I went to the bank yesterday for maybe 5 minutes. I slipped 20c into the meter. Damn sight easier and less stressful than a $20 fine.

The front valance is rather low, but I find I can navigate vicious speed bumps in my E39 where I would ground in my E36. Both are/were stock.

Agreed. Keeping within the law is the best way to avoid complications.

Cool read - thanks!

Yes, I'd read that about an inline being more efficient. Apparently it is to do with fewer moving parts? More bits in motion means more mechanical losses. So, back to the question, is a square engine a compromise between revs and torque, or is there a better reason?

OOOOhhhh - you just hit a pet peeve!! I keep my cars completely roadworthy at all times (after all, its my life at risk - people forget the WOF is mainly about safety) and I get SOOOO pissed off seeing some car from a 'lower socio-economic' demographic area on the road in a condition which is so unsafe and which is likely unregistered as well as un-WOF'd. It is further likely that such wankers are bereft of insurance at all. Why aren't these people found by the Police? My concern is that these are the people who will run into me, or you, or some other law-abiding person - then laugh as they drive off, knowing that nothing will ever happen to them.. few things get me really pissed off - but they're close!!

Hey Martyn, how do you know that?
