Be careful with claybar on newer bimmers as they often have gelcoats. Decent cut and polish should do it. I have used a meguiars product called "scratchx" they sell it at supercheap, really helps clean up that dull cloudyness. Alternatively, when i last polished my e46 i used turtle wax "color cure plus." Its a red polish (to match paint - comes in many colours) really makes the colours pop like new again. Once you're done make sure you put some sort of wax or sealant on it too or else you'll find it will go dull again after a week or so. Plenty of guides online. However if it starts to peel, you're stuck with a respray....

Singapore import + been dereg'd for 2 years too? Crash written off by insurer and repaired? And 30k?! as gaz pointed out you can get a nice e46 for a tiny portion of that. (just sold my 328ci for less than a quarter)

I don't understand the mindset of people who think its a good idea to take photos of their car with their pets.... or their kids for that matter.

Try Acton auto on philips st, philipstown (http://www.actonautomotive.co.nz/). Had most of my work done there, they were good on price and know their stuff. Also had work done at John Findlays who were cheap and good to deal with but no bmw code scanner and used to take them agees to finish jobs. (http://www.johnfinlaymotors.co.nz/)

So i've decided to sell the BMW... 1999 Model 184XXX kms Drives really well, well maintained mechanically and body is in reasonable nick. I have a car for work so doesn't get a lot of use, just decided to $1 reserve it to get market price. Interior is a bit faded, front bumper has a crack and stone chips etc, outside air temp is stuck on -40 and sunroof is showing first signs of regulator wear - sometimes it won't close first time. All things considered however its in great condition for a 14 yearold car. You can check it out here Thanks for viewing

I'm calling bullshit. Obviously they've wound the odometer forward.

If it helps, my e46 328 does this too and i commented on it to a friend who has an e46 330i and his does sometimes too. All these cars and yours come from around the same era and have similar gearboxs so it seems to be a normal thing. I seem to notice this more when i park on hills. What i tend to do to avoid this is when stopping on a hill put the car in neutral and apply handbrake. Then release foot brake so the car is being held on handbrake. Then put into P.

E38 728i. BBS alloys, HID alloys, black. $1,200
rowans17 replied to tobytoblerone's topic in TradeMe discussions
Surely that could be worth more than 1400 in parts alone?! I mean approx.... - Wheels ~500 - interior ~300 - Engine and drivetrain ~300 - Misc parts ~300 - Rest to a scrappy ~200 The fun of taking an old BMW to bits - priceless and for everything else - there's mastercard - oh wait hold on... -
Whats the mileage???

I hope not! Spent too much time contemplating it. Don't suppose "harperedie" from Auckland is a forum member? -

Haaa, this must have been relisted. I was the winning bid when the auction was withdrawn due to a question in the auction offering a grand! Lot of car for the $$ http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=636755352 -
The mighty fiat Then got one of those BMW things for "improved reliability".

Nope. Was a 320... you know the ones they use in F1?

Bolt on spoiler for more downforce

Nice try Chris, just because your borrowing my e46 this week doesn't mean you own a bmw and have to create a forum account.... Unless you've broken it. Now to wait for forum moderators to kick you back to ClubSub where you belong.

Hey guys, My brother needs a cheap car and i'm pretty keen to convert him to the dark side of BMW ownership. He's a student so needs something cheap on gas (im thinking e36 318 or similar) His only request is it must be MANUAL. Hes got about 5k to spend.... just seeing whats out there He lives in Christchurch and i live in Wellington so something in one of those two centers would be convenient. Cheers! Rowan

Check out http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ Chuck in the last 7 didgets of the VIN (you can get this from carjam or the plate in the engine bay) and see if you can find anything about remote locking. note my e46 comes up with S305A FERNBEDIENUNG F.ZENTRALVERIEGELUNG Remote control for central locking and my old e36 (1994 with remote locking) comes up with S306A FERNBEDIENUNG FUER ZV/DWA Remote control for central locking

Ha. I had this problem in my 328ci also after heavy rain, only it was a classic wellington 36mm of rain in an hour which left a puddle in my passengers footwell. Fix was to take the door panel off and re-seal the vapor guard with some silicon sealant (about $7 from bunnings) once i had taken the door panel off it was obvious with water marks this was the problem. Plenty of good guides on how to do this check out; Might not be the problem but worth a check.
