I had a quote for this sort of thing yesterday, for an E36 coupe. Strip bonnet, fix both bumpers, numerous parking rashes and dents, repaint boot etc etc. $2500 +GST. Whole respray $4k. Also had a quote from Evans European for the M325i, $5k + for a complete respray. Quality of work wise, I'd probably go with the first guy, as he does a lot of resto work and a lot of euro stuff. My 2 cents.

They're cheap as at the dealers mate, can't remeber how much, I didn't even bother keeping the receipt.
-
Just brilliant. I hope he's still running.

You wouldn't want it at the moment, has about an inch of dust and dirt over it. Yeah weather was nice, had the sunroof open and got sunburnt, going to see about the air con today. If Doug has been offered $16k for his, then this may not be such crazy pricing, as Kerry said, they are only original once and maybe there's a premium there?
-
I agree with Kerry, I hope he gets it! Having just done Coromandel-Auckland-Coromandel-Auckland today in ours (big cock up that!), I'm not sure I'd sell it though. . .

There would have to be a very compelling reason to drive with the roof up! Always the roof down (can't remember the last time I drove it in the rain). Wasn't me though. 15" weaves by the way, about the same ride height as Will's. I agree Will, 'vert for the sun, Motorsport in the rain for the (sideways) win!

Paying for our own roads? 1/3 the population paying 1/3 of car rego and petrol taxes plus prob more than 1/3 of all other taxes and we receive a mile under the equivalent amount of funding for roading projects. You're f**king lucky we are so generous (and unorganised), because if it was done on a strict user pays regime, all of Northland would be single lane gravel roads. Back OT, those lights will screw central Akld, just as they open the much vaunted CMJ, that's Spaghetti Junction to most people.

Thanks for the offer, but I picked up a standard one today for a tenner. Cheers.

Some lowlife smashed our left front indicator lens last night, which hopefully wasn't a prelude to a theft of the car. Anyways, I need a left front indicator lens for an '88 E30. Has a Tech 2 kit if that makes any difference?

A mate of mine is a repo guy (no, he didn't take your car) and he says go and ask for your stuff. If you have any receipts, great, otherwise, try it on anyway. Turn up with the original wheel (those standard ones are worth like what, $10?) and say I'll have mine back thanks, plus amp, sub and whatever else is yours. Incidentally, he would have let you take your stuff. Otherwise, small claims??Disputes tribunal?? You're basically stuffed thanks to the wanker you bought it off. If you want to PM the finance company behind this caper, I MAY be able to offer some more advice. Good luck.

Love the Schnitzer fuel cap.

I thought the BM wrecker in the Waikato had one too. Never even knew it had them, must go home and have a look.

Looks great, nice job.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but our M325 just got weighed, hand book says 1180kg ( I think), standard, no stereo to speak of, 1312kg!!!!! Full tank of gas, but even so, what's up with that?

Glad I went out for dinner.

How many airbags? If one only, it's non compliant and will never be registered here, unless you're prepared to wait until 2015.
-
It was $10k. Get over it.
-
Just a service, brakes etc etc.
-
Scratch that, it was an 840 as well.
-
My boss used to have an 850i, (different motor admittedly), he sold it after a $10k service/repair bill. It's a $200k car, regardless of what it costs now, it will have $200k car servicing costs.

It's old people. I was in Pakuranga yesterday, standing about 15 feet from a ped xing, looking for a particular shop. Completely unnoticed by me, some old coot stops at the xing. I walk off and he toots the horn at me and gives me the fingers for not crossing. Random.

Oil Additives and Oil Types - what to use and what not to use.
Palazzo replied to kiwipetrolhead's topic in Maintenance
I just read a report on this, a test was done on NY city taxi cabs, all with newly rebuilt engines. Run on different oils/change periods etc, after 60k miles, they were stripped and measured for wear. End result, no measurable difference in the wear on each engine. For what it's worth, using Mobil 1 in one of our cars resulted in oil consumption of about 1/4 of a litre every1200-1500kms, going back to mineral oil has taken it back to no measurable oil consumption.
