  1. We have a '94 730i in the family, ex Singapore and have had it for 5.5 years. When you turn the lights on, the computer tells you the brake lights have failed. End of electrical faults. Did it when we bought it, still does, nothing else wrong and we've covered 100kms in it in that time, making it 150 odd in total. Like anything, it's luck of the draw. I've known NZ new cars with way worse faults. We've never even asked to get it fixed.
  2. Most people seem to go for the Supra 'box, or Nissan (whatever goes on the back of a RB25DET) don't they? I know they're tough and can handle plenty of power. No idea how hard it is. I put 325iM springs and bilsteins in the convertible, best I can measure is 115mm to the jacking points/sills. I can now offer to grade gravel roads with the spoiler for a small fee. Minimal understeer, very flat cornering, lots of fun.

    320si

An S2000 is 240hp, with a 3 year 100,000km warranty and they're 6 years old. Peak power at 84, max engine speed, 85, sounds great.
  4. SamAdams is good, try Macs Sassy Red, or Monteiths Celtis which are vaguely similar. Otherwise, Steinlager and don't give me that crap about hangovers, harden up.
  5. Well, not the bedroom, but: A complete set of what I assume are standard springs/shocks for the convertible and that under dash panel (below steering wheel) after it fell on me on the trip to Raglan 3 weeks ago. 1 centre cap for a BBS 15 cross spoke and 5 litres of Castrol Formula R.

    M325 FOR SALE

Hey Busted, good luck with the sale. Where and how much for recovering the seats? Was going to get the conv. done.

    E34 525i

1991 525i, 154kms, auto, a/c, s/roof, excellent service records, lhas been weekend car only for last 2 owners, delphin grey (silver) metallic, 15" cross spokes. Cloth interior. $5,500.
  8. It's just a chip, it can be changed. My Legacy has a 180k limiter on it, tested in UK at 233k. From memory, a chip will unleash the lot. Companies won't admit it for liability reasons.
  9. Who said people in Swaziland were Muslim? Isn't that part or near to South Africa? Topless???
  10. I think driving a D/cab 4wd diesel ute with the local forestry company's name over it may have helped our cause as well. Don't know how business survives up there, went to the Houhora pub for the AB/Wallabies game, big screen, cheap beers/food, 8 people there including 3 of us.
  11. I've had 3 Dynatrons installed in different cars, all been perfect (ie, no falsing, worked etc), recommended it to a friend in Chch for his Altezza 3l wagon. Still not fixed. They fried the main computer, set off air bag warning lights. waiting for new computer ($5k). About 5 weeks at this stage. Guy from Warlocks went down to look at it, gave up. Installer IS all important. I have a list of "approved" alarms somewhere, there are heaps. A4 page worth of them. I'll try and find it.
  12. Do it, I was up there 2 weeks ago, Waipapakauri, Houhora, Tokerau Bay, Karikari, Spirits Bay. Road rage? There's nobody up there, anywhere! How can they have road rage?
  13. I've lost track of whether or not these are the right brakes, but if you look at that list of parts ( a year old admittedly) on the BMWCC site at Coombes Johnston, they have a set of front vented brakes for an E28 for about $62 each. Worth a crack?
  14. By air as well? I know I checked out shipping by sea and that was about 150% of the cost of the actual bumper. Wondered if they'd charge you by weight or volume by air? They do have a "popcorn" rate for that sort of thing.
  15. Inside front cover of TotalBMW, 169 pounds, $430ish? What's shipping? Probably cheaper by air, as they charge on weight?

    M325 FOR SALE

Here's a thought. Maybe BMW NZ realised that due to the success of the M3, the M badge was recognised and coveted. So when they could source some 325is models, they simply badged them M. Approval for this you can guarantee would have come from Germany and from the M division, whose anal nature extends to the colours you can use on T shirts. I think the high compression engine as listed below, is a myth. The dogleg came on earlier models (esp. 323iMs., of which there were some, but I recall that the box wasn't as good operationally as the 5spd in later 325iMs. Otherwise Andrew, you're suggesting that the 325iS was a model for the UK and US, which had identical specs to the 325iM, yet was never imported here, despite us having an identical model, with identical specs. I'm yet to see a 325iS with an "S" badge on it, (cue somebody proving me wrong), yet I've seen plenty with M badges on on UK forums. What's the answer there? Any car dealer who dealt in the 325IM will tell you that they commanded a significant premium (and still do) in their day. Was everyone stupid and you've been the first to see through this charade? There are a lot of copy cars out there and there are genuine ones. Our convertible has everything now, bar the LSD, but it ain't no Motorsport. The 325iM on the other hand has everything and handled better as stock and is the real thing. Whether you like it or not. Enough ranting. Cheers. incidentlly, the car that started this hijacked thread looks fine (would be better with all the kit) and I wish him luck.

    M325 FOR SALE

    So define a real sport.

    My 325i

The one with the join in is definitely going in the wrong direction compared with ours, good luck with it all.
  19. Hah! I almost added "I think a tyre/suspension guy bought it and there were plans to supercharge it" in my first reply, now THAT would have been detail.

    My 325i

It is all wrong. The pipe with the join in is heading in the wrong direction (first photo), should come back to top of radiator as seen in photo 1. The pipe currently going from top of radiator to the block, should in fact leave the block and go straight down to the bottom of the radiator, (bottom left as viewed from the drivers seat). The middle pipe running past the distributor is in the right place, should go to bottom of radiator, (rhs from d's seat). Topless, if you read this, apologies, I only got your message today, but couldn't have caught up anyway. Will try and swing a trip your way in the next week or two.

    My 325i

That looks all wrong, from memory and wtf is up with that hose joint? Does the fan actually clear those hoses? Other car is home in about half an hour (facelift), I'll have a look and compare. Hope they haven't done some damage as Bm's seem very sensitive to over heating.
  22. Arrgh! Dude, I was just saying that was the size of the M3 brakes, if yours are the same., then it's logical to assume they are the same. If the E28s are the same size, I wouldn't mind betting that if you go in to BM and ask for discs for an E28, they'll be cheaper than if you walked in and asked for brakes for an E30 M3. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

    Brake upgrade

Ours had a crap feel as well. Had new pads/discs, but had hardly been driven for two years. Even a lot of heavy braking couldn't get rid of the surface rust (was black), got them skimmed and new pads and hey presto, so much better. Still not fantastic, but good enough.
  24. No prob, and as Topless said, if you do want to sell. . . . . .
  25. I knew someone would jump all over that. Read it again, I said you "could" (ie, technically) include the 750/850, as the motors were supposedly hand built at the M plant, never said it was an M car. The others, as I said, again, were M products, that is they had input from the engineering division, not like now, where you walk in and ask for the M pack, they bolt on some 17s and a badge and away you go. The 850Csi was supposed to have 380bhp and a 6 speed manual, sounds like a good start for an M car to me.
