  1. No money for the car mate, but the beer is no problem
  2. I don't get why everyone's saying it doesn't work. Maybe I should clarify: the housing on M3 mirrors can be detached from the baseplate - it pops off if, say, you back the mirror into a wall. So I'm saying you might be able to get some RHD baseplates (say, from a M3 with damaged housings) and swap them with the LHD baseplates on your LHD mirrors (assuming that the housings are not side-specific), and they'd become RHD mirrors. I'm not sure if the glass on M3 mirrors is side-specific. It's possible - one mirror may be made convex and one not. The motors should be the same.
  3. Ok, so this is deteriorating into one of those threads again. Due to a some members' lack of respect for others. I wasn't going to say anything but since you guys are going for it... I'm sure we have a whole array of different professions among us on this board. So before you give your opinion on how useless a certain profession is compared to your own, consider that you're out there criticising what someone paid for, studied hard for, and does on a daily basis. Different strokes for different folks. Would you like to hear someone telling you how useless your profession is? They probably could have but kept their mouth shut out of respect. Same goes for those giving their opinion on race or religion. We are a BMW club and that's what holds us together - the love for our cars. So sure - off-topic is great and all, but comments that others may be sensitive to shouldn't be made. Some people may feel perfectly comfortable having a debate with others, some might not... it's obvious from some of the above posts that some of us take offense and I don't blame them. Some things are better left unsaid.

    BMW M1 Hommage

Agree with most of your comments. Front reminiscent of American muscle, back is the best part of the car, wheels I think are great (come on - they look better than subwoofers!). Yes, put beside the original M1 it is lots bigger - but that's the same for new BMWs compared to their predecessors. Doesn't stop it from looking good! Wish they had some interior to show. For those who haven't, I suggest you watch the video. Like Ollie said the designer explains the design so you can appreciate it better.
  5. I just had a good look. As good as I could, anyway. I still can't see any obvious indications that they can't be swapped. The actual mirror housings (not the baseplates) appear to be identical, sometimes my mind is telling me one is slightly longer but I can't say for sure. What do you mean by 'get into the mechanism'? Do explain. Aside from using a grinder and butchering it I can't imagine how.
  6. And here come the negotiations Congrats to your daughter Glenn that is an impressive raise. When you say 'not quite fully qualified' are you saying she's not chartered yet? You seem to have something against doctors? I think it isn't that great considering the amount they studied, the hours they worked and the responsibility. You have my support for the strike!
  7. The mirrors themselves are different - one mirror is slightly longer than the other. I'm not sure if this can be solved by just swapping the baseplates but to put it simply there is no easy way around this - you need a set of RHD mirrors.

    BMW M1 Hommage

Never saw this coming, I think they did a great job keeping with the original M1 theme but making it look modern. Autoblog article and pictures Video - BMW talks about the M1 Hommage
  9. Good to see you're using the car for what it was made to do! You certainly don't waste time with your cars. Here we go... you're thinking about selling it already?
  10. She's looking great Brent, wouldn't know she's done 500k.
  11. Have just checked for you on www.bmwfans.info. (You can also do this on www.realoem.com) Vehicle information Series: 3' E36 Body: Coupe Model: 323i Engine: M52 Region: ECE Version: Right Hand Drive Transmission: Automatic Manufact. date : 11/1995
  12. Really sorry to hear about this man. I know how you feel, I've had this happen twice. Apartments just aren't secure, security doors or not, cameras or not. Best form of security is just to keep everything out of view or take them with you when you leave the car. It's a pain but this is what we're reduced to nowadays. On a positive note, it's good that you've got insurance for most of the damage and the police are actually coming to take prints. The last time this happened to me - the police (who were only up the road) said they were lacking in resources and wouldn't be coming over even though we'd left everything untouched hoping they would. 3 times Jamie? That sucks. Same story here, so what if they get caught on camera - in my case it was stolen plates so there was nothing they could do. I'm guessing if it's anything that isn't straightforward (ie: the thief uses his own plate and they just find him using that) the police won't even bother spending the resources to find the thief, it's just not worth their time?
  13. Great find Andy! Grant it's great to see a clean record on yours... the numerous 'KM decreases' are pretty scary. You get the same info from a VIR, correct? IIRC they show a graph and plot a trendline of the KMs by WOF. This site looks more comprehensive but maybe it's just the layout. Good price though. Since it appears to be new I wonder if they will remove the free bit soon. Also wondering if this is related to the US Carfax.
  14. Hmm. Definitely not my thing - it struck me as something that you'd see in a UK BMW magazine than in NZ. Is that good power for a 318 turbo?
  15. Welcome mate - pics of your E46!
  16. Good luck Deeveus, $1400 in gold coins might give the Touareg a bit of a 'slammed' look... Make sure to put them in the right places to even it out.
  17. Welcome! Your car looks very nice. Just wondering - is it really a 325? Never heard of a 1996 325 - they stopped around 1994, might be a few 1995 around but by 1996 should be a 323 with the 2.5L M52. Regarding the M roundel - I've always assumed it's an aftermarket item as I have never seen BMWs come with it from the factory. That's exactly what I thought
  18. Welcome, hope you find your car soon

Happy Birthday mate, have a good one
  21. Thanks for the heads up. I supposed you can buy anything nowdays... but that's just sad!
  22. Hi Elmarco, in general Motorsport versions are the same as non-M versions, except that they can have a M body kit, suspension, wheels, interior. Engine will be the same. Yes the Motorsport wheels will fit a standard E46.
  23. I think a genuine Alpina will have a plaque somewhere inside the cabin stating its production number, etc.
  24. I guess he lost his sense of direction... http://jalopnik.com/383750/nick-heidfeld-s...w-sauber-f1-car
