Glad you succeeded! That black BMW connector, if it's anything like the one in the E36, needs to be attacked with a big flathead screwdriver. You get to the point where you're think you might break it if you go any further, and put a bit more force in it and the whole thing just suddenly snaps and disengages. PS: What's with E46 owners and Sesame Street

Are the majority of car sellers on trademe dreamers??
Yuen replied to Avenged.SSE's topic in TradeMe discussions
I would say some of them are dreamers, but we can't really make a general statement. It depends on the car. By pricing at a premium the seller can be trying to send a signal to buyers that his car is better than the rest of the market. This could gather interest from those who can afford the premium for a superior car and filter out the people who can't. Then they can negotiate. And as has been mentioned not all sellers want an urgent sale so are just putting it on for what they'd let it go for today - so you can't really say they are 'dreamers'. If a guy wanted a sale today, and priced it well above market, then yes you could say he's dreaming. -
Welcome mate, car looks great. Your nickname wouldn't happen to be related to the iball newspaper would it?

Sorry to hear about your problems mate, you're right it does sound electrical. I would go back and tell your ex-mechanic to return your money - sounds like he's doing a 'trial and error' method at your expense. He should foot the bill in that case, that's what you're paying a mechanic for at the end of the day isn't it (unless agreed upon prior of course), otherwise you could just go in with no experience and fix it yourself by trial and error. A headgasket job isn't a cheap erratic diagnosis to make... Hope you get her fixed soon. I think you should ask Glenn @ Botany Motorworx to have a look.

The style of wheels is subjective I guess, but my real gripe with those wheels is that they probably weigh a bit more than stock M3 wheels hence taking away from the performance of the car.

That car was on TradeMe awhile back - maybe a year or two ago. It's nice, wonder what has been done aside from the Hamann bits shown. Would return the sidemarkers, diffuser and wheels to stock though, they look tacky.

Ok, to remove the to remove the rear seats, give the top bit (the bit your back rests on) a yank towards the front of the car. Do this at 2 points: at the top of the seat right below each headrest. For the bottom cushion, same thing, reach under the seats directly behind the front seats. Yank them upwards. To run wiring - there will be a hole on the passenger side behind the rear seat back. It's covered with a rubber piece that has little holes, you can even punch new holes out if you require. It's used by the factory to run OEM wiring.

Mark, how long did you wait between disconnecting the battery and unplugging the airbag? The last time we removed a steering wheel with airbag, we waited 10 minutes or more. From what I've read you're supposed to do that, or else it could throw the Airbag light. Anyway, to get rid of the light you'll need to get it reset by anyone with the right tool.

Welcome, your car suits you and the plate is cool -
Just curious - what happened there?

Yeah thought Style 5 was a 3 piece. Maybe they came in few variations?

MSBOND would be Shelley's car?

The car looks very nice, the wheels... Good luck with the sale mate.

I've used Courier Connect (www.courierconnect.co.nz) to send a rear diffuser from Auckland to Christchurch. No problems, got there very quickly. Free pickup from your place, reasonable rates (they do online quotes). In my case a Post Haste guy picked it up - I guess they subcontract it. When I was looking at my options I checked Mainfreight as well, it was a lot higher, from memory two to three times.

I like the 2nd pic, gives the car a bit of a 'looking out into the yonder' feel. First four pics are a bit blue, could do with correction of the white balance.

Hey 100k is a start. Why not the E46 M3? Going for new? 135i will be a killer especially once modded... it's going to be a fun car.

It looks nice Cain - doesn't sound like a tractor is a plus An umbrella in a door? You mean an actually umbrella supplied by VW?
-
Looks very nice Brent. So it's an Alpina replica on the outside?
-
Fair enough Nick, as I said - 'best practice' I'd probably do the same in your shoes, unless new was priced really well.

Don't think it will. Glenn - Jerry Clayton's website, under 'Bargain Bin' in the parts section. It's been there since last year I think - but maybe it's still available?

Hmm... would ask Glenn for a definitive answer. Everytime I go for a WOF though, the inspector pulls the belt down, presumably to check if it retracts? With safety equipment best practice is not to go used (but ouch I wonder how much the dealer wants), unless I know the secondhand one isn't faulty.
