    BMW X5 V8

I can't believe you already sold the E60... shortest car ownership on Bimmersport? Congrats on the Touareg, it looks nice. You haven't test driven the car you're buying? Will you be the first owner in NZ? Btw, I saw an X5 yesterday, must have been a V8 - giving out this feral growl. I think it was decatted and possibly more, man it sounded good and the sound really suits the looks.
  2. Wow, that's a long nail. You should keep it as part of your car's history!
  3. I agree Nick. The E36 feels pretty safe - solid enough. Btw, if you want a Bimmersport sticker I have one.
  4. Congrats Cain, glad you got the car you like.

Gold Touring... never seen one before. Nice car! And welcome
  6. Yeah, I was wondering if they'd do worldwide warranty but suppose the odds are they don't to discourage people importing them and selling here for no disadvantage. On the flip side... I suppose it's a good thing that you haven't needed to find out

    New Arrival

Congratulations Grant! So when's the BMW ride on car coming?
  10. Nice car Nick, rare colour on the E36 and manual 323s aren't common either. Is it a UK import? Odd to see a 99 without the passenger and side airbags. Just so many variations depending on market.
  11. Grant, in terms of warranty - would you have to ship the shocks back to the US if there are issues?

  13. I don't think so Greg, but they probably are in colder countries. If you want to see if your car has them, remove the lining under the bonnet, should be some sort of heating mechanism around the nozzles.
  14. Mark you were close, it's a thermoswitch, supposed to heat up your windshield washer nozzles. Part #24: From http://bmwfans.info/original/E36/Cou/323i-...61/ill-61_0070/ Also read http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=540664

    Fair enough

Seriously... someone rescue that E30 Touring! So rare and a good colour, what a waste. It's been done all wrong... we need it raised, some dish, smoked.
  16. Hellrot? I like... paint looks good!
  17. Looks kind of like a Park Distance Control sensor... are there any numbers on the part itself?
  18. If it has writing on the chrome shroud around the projector, for example E46 xenon says 'Xenon', then it's factory. The mods from the previous owner sound good Looks like he had taste. I've heard of the windows on E46 being a common issue, lots of DIYs around I'm sure.
  19. Do you have the link to the Bimmerfest thread? This is interesting. My E36 had a pretty bad jerk, but I no longer have it so can't try this out. From memory the BMW TIS said this was a software issue and needed a reflash of the computer, or something similar. But you know what... pretty much all the E36s with the JATCO suffer from this, so I doubt it's due to the computer 'learning' the previous owner's habits. A guy on the board has gotten it flashed by a transmission shop, and I think that fixed it... other than that, you see ads by people selling their E36 saying 'we've just overhauled the transmission' which I'm guessing is their fix for this problem. On the topic of 'learning', after fellow member 'lidistick' and I disconnected his battery to work on his steering wheel (with airbag), and connected it back about an hour later, he reported that the transmission computer had somehow reset and now shifted much better. I'm surprised the E46 still suffers from this problem - would have thought they'd sorted it out by then... maybe the cause for the E46 is actually different to the E36, but the symptoms are the same? Let us know how you go with the reset.
  20. Yeah - I thought that car was a great deal for $14k. Especially being M-sport and with the nice wheels, ACS mirrors, HID... is the HID factory? People generally shy away from Malaysian/Singaporean imports as they are reputed to have more issues than their Japanese counterparts. Would be great to hear from you through time on how your car is doing, what has needed fixing, etc. It would be good info for those of us who might buy a Singaporean import someday.

  22. Welcome, your car is very nice, definitely great value - get some fresh pics for us!
  23. Yes that's a ridiculous amount of bulbs... doesn't sound normal! Replacing the Vision Plus so soon must be painful. Are the bulbs seated snugly in the lights, not having more play than normal? Other than that, must be electrical, which I have no idea about. If it keeps happening I'd take it to a sparkie to check the battery and alternator. FWIW my E36 used to go through tail light bulbs a fair bit as well - 1 every 10,000km sounds about right. And btw I don't do that much night driving so maybe it's normal - wonder how long the the bulbs are rated to burn for.
  24. Nice! Looks like a good fun. About time the old girl got a vacation... Third day's photos look nicer btw.
