  1. Good to hear you didn't get a bad experience. What was wrong with the VANOS?
  2. Got a picture of it Nick? I've never seen a BMW stereo with a green backlight! Or is this an aftermarket unit?
  3. Welcome Would be interesting to see how that exhaust has been routed. It looks well done and factory!
  4. Congrats to all of you, sorry to hear about the winding back Ven
  5. If you can't find anyone with better knowledge of the E46 (I'm more of an E36 guy), I'd be happy to have a look for you, and I'll see if I can get my friend who used to have an E46 325 to come along to benchmark the power. Maybe get it driven down to Glenn for an inspection? Would be safest if you are really serious about the car.
  6. Comfort yourself with the fact that it would have needed an air conditioning retrofit for R134a (or has it been done?) and isn't a S38B38. If you really want one, there's always the Chch one which has way lower KMs? Were the S38B38 M5s even brought to NZ? I saw somewhere that says only four E34 M5s made it to NZ or something like that.

    Are those Ford V8 badges?

Hahahahhaa... the exact same thing happened to me before. I thought I'd been fooled and my car had been wound back! I like the new lip and exhaust, personally prefer the amber lights as they were originally as they kind of look dirty now. IMHO, if you tint ambers it should be all the way... smoked looks best on clears.

    Low beam problems

Yep - so we're talking about HIDs colour shifting as they age, and standard HIDs being ~4300k... mind you, aftermarket kits are ridiculous, lots of guys out there are trying to get the blue/purple flicker the wrong way by going for high kelvin bulbs. Road hazards! I don't know what's so cool about seeing everything in blue or worse, purple. Does your car have the factory HIDs? Couldn't really tell from what you've said so far. Oh, and... gonio-what? Yeah, seen that before too. I'm thinking they even they don't see any real benefit from it - but if it can make consumers go 'Wow! Waterproof lighting!' they'd probably get a few more sales! Ouch... the overwatted bulbs was exactly what I thought when I read that. I know the E36 had swappable outer lenses, but I'm not sure about the E46, though I suspect they're the same. You can tell by whether the outer lens has clips that attach it to the lamp housing. If they're replaceable then of course one option is to buy new outer lenses, but secondhand units (housing + lens) may be comparable in price, and also your current reflectors and other inner parts may have been damaged by the excess heat, so I'd check before making a decision. Are the E46's outer lenses plastic or glass? I'm guessing glass but surprised it's cracking.
  10. Sounds like a plan Martyn, cross your fingers I thought the reserve was $15k as well, but at the end of the auction it says $12,900.
  11. Thanks for the pics. Those come with bragging rights for sure! They suit your car, I really can't see them suiting any other colour as well.
  12. Aww Are you still going to try and sell the Touring? Reserve = $12,900. Was a good deal if everything is in good cond.
  13. Withdrawn. Who bought it?
  14. Just plain silly... are you kidding me?
  15. That's a pretty crazy price... you really do love your child I love your child too The only I would change about her are those Brembo caliper covers! I like your sig comment, haha.

    Personalised Plates

I suppose I ruled out that possibility - the owner is of asian descent... but maybe he's a Brit (just don't think that's likely but who knows). Personally, if I had to choose, I'd get German even though I'm not one as I like the plate to suit the car rather than the owner.
  17. Harry, ask Josh (Hybrid). He'll know.
  18. Some pretty wide Beyerns there... 10" wide? You just can't beat the Z3 M Coupe for that crazy, wild look. With those mods it just takes it to another level It's a very nice colour too.
  19. Oh I see... Yes it sounds like it's going to save you a lot of work! Don't see many Z4 M Coupes around either so it's going to be a really cool car.
  20. Mmm... White M6 vert? Very nice. I haven't seen that around. The only vert that I've seen on the road was a blue one. White E90 M3 - nice! Haven't seen the 4 door around either other than a pic of it at the dealer. I saw a white E92 M3 just 2 days ago, it was the one I posted up a few months back sitting at the dealer, it's now been sold and has a different plate. There's also a pair of black M6s frequently seen in the city. Could it be that the exhaust needs some time to break in? I have heard people say that, don't know how true it is though. Would be interested to see what the carbon fibre tip looks like, never seen one!
  21. Hey John, saw this on TradeMe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/S...n-157114191.htm Different car?
  22. Thanks for posting the pics - looking forward to the others. A pity the Z4 project has been discontinued!
  23. Nice. Assuming they're genuine from your comment about the price I thought you were selling the car?
  24. Dylan, if you don't manage to get your hands on sides, I have original BMW clear sidemarkers for the E36. Btw, make sure to get lights with the same number of pins as your current tails so the check control doesn't throw an error.

    Low beam problems

elmarco, are you talking about the blue/purple flicker that some HID lamps produce? AFAIK that has nothing to do with the bulbs, but rather the projectors. Could it be the reflector/projector? Just thinking if it's the bulbs then the intensity of the beam should be affected instead of the pattern.
