  1. ^ Good example Glenn And anyway, the pics people post of their cars usually show the plates so there goes anonymity. I would be lying if I said I didn't find it funny that two SLABs got stickered two days in a row.

Ollie, I was referring to this - http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....st&p=160759

Beautiful car Adrian, looks to be in very good condition both inside and out. Reminds me of that white E34 on Schnitzers I posted awhile back. Good luck!
  4. Do it once, do it right - save all the money that you'd pay to replace tyres too often due to the excess camber and paying off unnecessary fines and spend it on a good suspension.
  5. At first it sounded trivial but I suppose time has to be accurate when you're logging! Great work Jochen! Making these models look even more attractive now
  6. Very cool. Other than logging, what other things can you do?
  7. If you put it that way... the 540 I guess! Unless the 530 handles that much better in the twisties?
  8. I see, you raised a good point Jochen - I don't drive out of Auckland that much and when I did I always assumed that the areas I had bad reception in were just due to the hills etc, who knows, it could have been the band expander then!
  9. The box behind the mirror would be the rain sensor (or ambient light sensor?), haven't seen a mirror like that though, was thinking maybe 'no card' refers to a SIM card for some SOS function but I think the SOS mirrors have a separate button for that.
  10. Cain I think the earlier cars came with ambers, only later models came with clears. The Boston Green looks good, and it's got a nice interior. The new price is more realistic. Good luck with the sale!
  11. I agree... E39s look so good in M-Sport guise. It's almost a 'must have'. 6 cylinders E39 vs 8 cylinders use different steering, it's said the straight sixes are supposed to be a more nimble car. I haven't driven a V8 E39 though, I'm sure it's nice to have that much more power. Don't see many Imola Red E39s around so that one would be a little exclusive. Silver is a colour that looks damn good on the E39 M-Sport, even if they are a bit common. Japan vs NZ New - electronics ie: Nav, radio? will be what you need to check on. You'll have a much bigger selection if you consider Japanese imports because there aren't that many NZ New M-Sports around.
  12. Welcome The correct badge for your car would be ///M and not ///M3.
  13. Welcome to the site I'd say your best bet is to buy a complete leather interior for your E36. They come up from time to time (secondhand), and you could probably get them cheaper than a set of new leather seat covers if you can even find them, I haven't heard of places selling pre-made covers for the E36.
  14. Good to hear Nice way to customise BMW wheels too, small touch that sets them apart.
  15. The car looks great, I like the wheels, what are they? (Model, size). Exhaust sounds good and I like the quad tips, though I think a more aggressive diffuser is now needed to complement them. You're brave to be modding a car that I assume is still under warranty this heavily! I'm guessing the TurboTuner can be removed easily but the exhaust not so much?
  16. Thanks for the explanations guys. It does explain a few things. My experience with a band expander in a Mazda was good, reception was clear. However in an old Honda I get to certain places where it starts receiving two stations at the same frequency.

    Forget Fuelstar

Amateurs... The big boys use this: I hear it gets you 40hp, and up to 65hp with a remap!
  18. Grant & Jochen: Why are band expanders bad? Do they decrease the reception quality somehow? By reasoning I can understand that having another link in the chain would decrease quality but interested to hear your explanations.
  19. Has anyone used both PB Blaster and Penetr8, just wondering how they compare (I've only had experience with PB Blaster)

Looks very nice Mark, you know I've never been a fan of green but pictures like yours change my mind. Loving the reflections...
  21. Awesome! That's a nice car... good to hear it's back in the Bimmersport family.
  22. Hmm interesting! Don't know, can only go by what I've read. Apparently sedan is stiffer than coupe, not sure how true that is, or by how much. $500, was that new from the dealer? I called Team McMillan up more than a year ago, IIRC I was told $600+ inc. GST.
  23. Never fitted an x-brace as it was ridiculously expensive in NZ, but here's a DIY: http://www.understeer.com/xbrace.shtml Have only read good things about the x-brace, 99.9% of the comments I've read say it helps, and that it helps much more than a strut brace, I would do the x-brace first. Oh and congrats on the purchase, post some pics up!
  24. The low beam looks to be a reflector design (just a chrome bowl with a bulb in it and the light is reflected out of the headlight - vs a projector design (such as in the E36) where you have glass in front of the bulb in the low beam, to project light through the glass. An easy way to put it is, on the E36, high beam is a reflector while low beam is projector.
