Same as an E30 diff or Z3 diff, so just find one of these in LSD, it will bolt straight in.And I don't think the M Spec compacts had them,as well as the fact that everyone seems to think their compact is an M Spec because it has the "M" badge on the back, even with an M43 Auto up front! Here is two on trademe.http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=66055111

Some do, but most don't give that opportunity. That is why I started working for myself, not an easy path to the top of my own "pyramid" but possible nonetheless!

He should do, any worthwhile sparky should already know this without having to be told!

I can get the H&R kit for a pretty decent price, they use Bilstein shocks with their own springs. Platform front struts, and pretty sure they do an adjustable platform to go inside the top arm (rear) in the std location. I have them on my Cosworth, and the quality is superb, as you would expect from a German made kit. Will cost a fair bit more than the $205 Ebay jobbies though!

So what you are saying,is that it IS a single spinner. But it wouldn't have been, if someone had ordered it with an LSD,but they didn't, so it is pretty much like any other BMW single spinner, that you can order with an LSD if you want one ...............................

Sounds like the guy off "pimp my ride" talking about them. Which would come as no surprise!.................

Easy. You just have to locate the bulb failure indicator. In an E30 it is in the boot area, I can't remember where it is in an E36, but it will be in the tail light wiring. Run your 5 core cable to the front side of this unit (ie. NOT the tail light side) The unit senses the current going through it, so by hooking up before the unit, it doesn't register the extra load on it.

I first saw these on EGay several months ago. Saw the pic, and thought, Hmmmm, very cheap Brembos here...... clicked on the auction and realised what they were. Bet you could melt them if you got em hot enough!.................

Lets not forget USANA! Same sh*t, different name................

Be aware that this box on trademe won't fit a 2002 ( I am assuming from your pseudonym that is what you plan fitting it to) as the small sixes (M20)have a different bolt pattern to the M10 and big sixes. If you are thinking of going the Quaife route, spend the extra and get the dog box, the "clubman" synchro boxes are not very good, lots of synchro problems especially on high revving cars.

315 hp out of an M30 for $4300- yeah right!Someone got a good deal here.
-
drug money considering it is not a 265 box!

Normally I would be silly to reveal that, and if I really needed it I wouldn't tell you.But seeing as you asked and I am feeling in a good mood, I am probably not going any higher than my current bid!

I was just taking the piss, everyone else asking for him to ring them!.............. I know the guy selling it and have seen the engine, and it is a goody.I would be a mug to let it go for a few grand. I don't really need it, but will own it if nobody wants to pay much for it- this is one of the all time classic BMW engines IMO, and would make an unbelievable E30 or E30 M3. Not the worlds easiest conversion for sure, but would be worth it.

Some people have too much time on their hands

I was watching a program the other night, The Sopranos I think, and I heard a saying which really would apply quite well here:"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public" (or NZ in this case!) -
Now listed on TM with a reserve of $2000- got to be good buying at that price! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=65388372

Good question! It is not really the throttle body as such. (If you study the pics real close you will see it has ITB's close to the head) It is there to stop the turbo from stalling when the throttle is snapped shut, when tends to snap the turbine shaft on highly boosted engines. it works in conjunction with the normal throttle butterflies, when the throttle is released, it closes the mouth of the turbo, preventing it from dragging in more air, so you don't get the big pressure buildup between the turbo and throttle butterflies.Much the same effect as running a dump valve, only on this setup, the turbo runs in a sort of semi vacuum, with the butterfly on the compressor inlet blocking any air from entering when the throttle is closed.

Found this the other night, lots of good pics of the M12 Turbo engine, some damn good other stuff on this site for the technically minded, or anyone who just appreciates the finer points of proper race cars, enjoy! http://www.gurneyflap.com/bmwturbof1engine.html

definitely the best way to go, pedal boxes are cheap now, and you get rid of all that crap BMW thingamajiggy linkage!...............

I would think $4 to $7K

Hahaaaa- sprung! I was going to keep it quiet, until the auction finished, less competition for me! I have no use for it, but will grab it if nobody wants to pay reasonable dough for it. Seriously cool engine, someone must want it more than me!

Funny how many times this car pops up! Rare maybe, the constructor only built four. Desirable though????????????
