The supercharged Z3 on trademe recently had one of these kits fitted, it was fitted at a place I worked at about 10 years ago, and worked really well. It did everything the maunufacturers claimed, and the rootes style blower works much better with a small capacity engine than does a centrifugal blower like a Vortech (more boost at low rpm=more torque)

funniest post ever- well done dude!

Give me a call about this, i might be able to help.

Active Autowerke in the US makes good kits for the E36, RHD too. Definitely worth a look.

A blue compact, pic on cover of herald. Looks like he rolled it. Useless driver as well as scum.

It seems you weren't the only one snapping pics of that! Towies are right up there with parking wardens IMO, I saw one illegally parked in a bus stop outside the ASB netball stadium on Saturday, waiting for others to park illegally so he could get his next tow!

No point wondering about it now! You have bought the thing by the sound of it, so just be happy! FYI I just sold that M52TU 2.8 and trans (E46) for $2500, I believe they normally go for a bit more than that, but I just wanted a quick sale as I had traded it for some other bits.

I saw this in Tauranga, very sad! Strangely enough, only one was ever built!......"Austin Martin silver" too, anyone know what an "Austin Martin" is?!!!!!

OBC Display showing false reading post instalation of new taillights
conrod replied to MattSB's topic in Maintenance
The German check module is pretty clever, it is trying to tell you "get rid of those crap aftermarket lights you have fitted and fit the "Originale BMW Teille" back in!!!!!" Except there is no warning light for that, so it picked faulty tail light display, as that is close enough! -
sounds like I will have some competition!.........I am happy to help with any advice on this swap,(including who to use and NOT to use for various outsourced work!) and you are welcome to come and take a look at my car if that is any help. PM me for contact details.

I will be getting some carbon panels made for my E30 in the coming months, a bonnet and bootlid to start with. These will be "proper" carbon panels, using pre-preg and vacuum bagged and autoclaved- so super light, and super strong, using 100% carbon, not a top layer of carbon over glass, as many do. The guy I am using does top quality work for motorsport, and as a result the finish would be equally at home on a show car. I expect the bonnet to be around $2K, maybe a little less. This will be for the outer skin, bonded to an inner frame made out of carbon that replicates the steel frame (so two moulds to make it) and it will bolt to the existing hinges, retaining the standard catch etc. It was not my intention to get them made to sell, but if there is any interest, then I am happy to keep you guys posted. cheers Conrad

IT was a "nothing" car. RHD for starters, it had SOME Group A parts, centrelock wheels, AP brakes, air jacks, Gp.A suspension.(BUT, it was really early spec stuff, not very nice as far as nice bits go) No engine, gearbox, diff, fuel tank, wiring, seats/belts, and a lot of other small stuff. The shell was pretty rough, and it was not built from a BMW Motorsport kit, no known history, and not exactly cheap either! Even with the Group A parts, it still wasn't a patch on what I already have. So I'll continue as I was!...........

Spill the beans!

Funny you say that, i have been revisiting the whole centrelock vs. bolt on thing, I might still go down that road!....... As for the update I promised, well it didn't eventuate. I flew to Chch on Tuesday to look at a "Group A" M3, supposedly complete less engine. Plan was to dump the S50 into it. The car unfortunately was not "quite" as I had been led to believe, and the price has escalated somewhat.......... So continue with the 318i.

What E30 project is that? Something you wish to tell us?!! I don't think you will find a wrecked M3 in NZ for sale, few and far between. The last one I saw before this came up was the Yellow one that I bought for my project. I would have bought this CSL, and paid$15 to $20K for it if I had needed a donor car,a wrecked M3 of any vintage is a rare thing in NZ.

I like the part that says "your vehicle was seen exceeding the speed limit" I wonder what piece of measuring equipment was used to record the speed.,...... somehow I don't think the "eyecrometer" will stand up too well in court. Wankers. Just read the response- excellent work by Mr Paul Clarkin! Should have run them over and improved the quality of our collective gene pool!......

Enough of the bullshit, enjoy! (and I don't just mean Vicki) http://tunertrader.vidiac.com/video/9a2198...80b000d27f3.htm

Certainly good value at around $3000, if that is the reserve. The hp figures sound like what we got from one in a fairly mild state of tune many years ago (another touring car engine too!) Might be a bit difficult to fit back into a BMW, escpecially with the dizzy someone has grafted onto the back of the exhaust cam. And obviously an alternator would have to be fitted somewhere too.

Progress has been a bit slow lately, I haven't really touched it for 3 or 4 weeks, the reason which I will reveal later this week! Could be time to start "E30 race car part 2" Anyway, here is a pic of my latest purchase.
-
An M42 if it is the one I am thinking of. It never actually went into a touring car, but may have been built for one initially. It was in speedsport a while back for sale I think. Could be a nice upgrade for anyone with an E30 318is.

Have a looky here, and all of your questions will be answered! http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=150

Pretty sure a new head (bare) from BMW is around $1500, but as Gus says, pretty easy to find second hand- just have to make sure they aren't cracked as well! I am helping my friend put his 2.7 race motor back together on Saturday, I'll have a look at what casting they used on that, it was a brand new head, and quite sure it was a 320i casting (although ports were cleaned up a bit) This engine made 250hp with loads or torque from 3-7000rpm, and we have just dropped the CR as it was a bit high, so will be able to put more timing in, which will give it some more power.

wrong forum dude, this is for Motorsport only!!!!!!!

I have withdrawn auctions before, and not paid the success fee. It just asks you the reason for withdrawal, and gives you a bit of a telling off and warning for doing it too many times. Pretty sure there was no real issue with that.

But now that you have nearly completed the job, you are much less of a dumbass than you would have been, if you had given it to someone else to do for you- well done! And I have seen that adaptor, plug and play maybe, but a couple of hours with a soldering iron and a diagram makes sense to me if it saves you $500. Where did you get the "M Power" cam cover from? Looks like the American M3 one, a nice touch for sure.
