Ill get shot for this but ive found over the years there's very few good people in the wellington performance scene the ones i do deal with down there are great people but its also the worst place in the country for keyboard pro's but thats my opinion
-
i think most would agree forums and FB are nothing but a mined field these days and trying to have a grown up convo with the fantasy pros coming in added their $100 worth of copying and pasting is a loosing battle thus i cant be bothered. Good onya for admitting things very few do for me i dont bother contributing on much anymore try to be helpful getting shot down dead for it thus the Shred thing i got much crap thrown at me cause apparently 30 yrs in the industry doesnt stand for jack anymore, he who yells loudest is believed more which sums up Aaron very well.

referring to me ?
-
As far as im aware STM dont build there motors a place out of the hutt does and for a few others but ive been wrong millions of times before pretty common for me
-
ok so you have a MAF less conversion but still need to relfash?
-
Or do you mean MAF ?
-
good stuff dude ill add some seat padding for you
-
the only thing im not a fan of is the remapping its limited to working around the AFM meaning you cant change the intake too much, aftermarket or piggyback like the macpecu allows you to dump the AFM and do whatever you want and you have more functions plus you can do your own tuning and dont need to reflash everytime you change something and cheaper in the long run, also gives you data logging at the track

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10202908713012607&set=vb.1046214421&type=2&theater things all sorted for the recheck cert then it turned to poo dropped 2 cly the ignitors are getting hard to come by so got a 4 channel CDI unit and re configured the injector settings which were hard to find and now back on all 6 ! Figure why the speedo hates me and warrent time

hard to prove a point Dave without showing off hahahahahaha

this isnt quit what im talking about and a tad unfair but just to show its a package deal, My m50b25 turbo my own intake manifold and yes a turbo the size of a small country but still running pump gas stock bottom end with cams and autronic ecu my tune just fitted a CDI unit 4psi here but youll get the idea and just touching the go pedal ive limited the revs to 8k. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10202908713012607&set=vb.1046214421&type=2&theater

Im trying not to loose the plot here but if anyone is serious about making any gains from any setup you really need to look at the bigger picture, doing just one thing isnt going to give you a magical gain unless its already restricting things in a big way. Half the time just a dam good tune up gives a noticeable gain when playing with cams you need to know what the heads doing first no point in adding a cam and dropping flow as for the manifold, you need to understand the intake tuned length or frequency is directly connected to the headers length and volume that combined with the head flow and comp ratio you can now pick a cam theres no free lunches. Remember a reflash/chipped ecu can only give you gains based on the above in saying that adding some cams with more overlap reduces the effective comp ratio that in turn allows more timing even on 98 theres no detonation on a motor using 10/1 comp ratio but youll need to tune to find the gains so as for this manifold? Look at the bigger picture if you really want some gains but hey i have no idea what im doing so carry on looks like eveyones having a great time

dyno runs should be done in 4th or 1/1 gearing and TCF 1.00 and temp sensor hung on the wall in the dyno room
-
like i said add a turbo
-
i was taking the p.ss
-
theres your answer MoJoJoe leave it all stock much more fun
-
you may have to machine the cam gears to get enough adjustment to get the centerlines correct if you need it done sing out
-
its worth doing go onto Comp Cams web page it shows you how to do the centreline method to dial in cams if your not sure sing out, dialing in cams for n/a is different to turbo

When i made my M50 intake manifold i spent some time studying the stock one which wasn't that bad i made former's and redesigned the runners and built trumpets into them and had a Laser cut flange made then created the manifold from sheet steel cheap and easy to do. The M50 ports need some work on the high radius but are generally pretty good but the stock cams are the killer at 225 deg advertised duration and so performance killer im lucky enough to have a mate in Finland ex BMW DTM mechanic so running N/A i got some 100% bmw [email protected]'' in and [email protected] ex cams, you have no idea what they do for the M50 they pull from 2000rpm and wont give up at 8800 now combine that with the intake youll be very happy camper. You shouldnt run the motor with Hyd lifters past 8500 with reprofile on the cam to Mech itll run you to 9500, always wanted to build a 10k rpm M50B20 for the open 2ltr class pretty sure i could pull 270hp out of one,but thats all here say

For those who maybe interested the 34 turbo went for a cert last week as to be expected it failed on a few things mainly dew to the fact i pointed them out to the cert guy not that he wasn't doing his job far from it but i guess i wasn't 100% happy with it, unfortunately one minor thing turned into a 12hr fix but we choose to do these things. Changed the front brakes again as i wasn't happy with the rotor kick causing pad knock off have now fitted Merc disc's works much better have also landed the 6 speed boxes as the 260g really isnt liking the power it makes running 7psi nor do the 265 rears so box change is a must. Apart from that all going well ill be stalking the streets in a few weeks
-
if can be of help sing out i have a few same things left for my cert then ill be stalking a street near you soon as for the manifold discussion to be honest a well tuned car gives great results too and many couldnt feel a 5 hp gain from a manifold change, the best gains ive found is with a cam change or even changing the stock cam centre lines work pretty dam good but hey whatever works i guess.
-
Or......strap a turbo on it and the manifold doesn't matter !
-
I dont share or play with others well sorry

Got some 6 speed boxes for my toy today
