Hey Rohan here, Do you have any 325i intake bits? Do you remember the rubber tube you sold (gave) me which links the AFM to the throttle body? They are different on mine but it looks like the 325 uses the same one. Got any spare? Cheers

After an afternoon on the phone it seems no one stocks or can source nolathane bushes (here anyway). Never mind, BMW has them for $50 each so I'm going down that road. Thought $50 was pretty good actually for gen parts. Has BMW recently dropped their prices or are they just clearing old stock?

I've been looking into the very same thing. I'm a big fan of DRL and I fitted them to my Honda Legend. I've been wanting to do the same to the BMW but the charging system doesn't seem as stable as the Honda. LEDs would be perfect for me. Where did you see the H3 ones? Cheers

So I went for my WOF today and the E28 failed. I suspected it could but not for this! The lower control arms, which I replaced not 12 months ago are knackered! I'd bought new arms, 750 bushes, had the bushes machined and pressed in correctly. Carefully installed (instructions carefully adhered to, and yes, not tightened until the weight of the car was on them). Now the bushes are completely shot and Ive really got no comeback since I had them machined etc. Where is the best place to buy standard bushes? Bmw or somewhere else? The problem is I got the last lot from 'somewhere else' and I suspect they were just poor quality. Bite the bullet and get genuine or any better suggestion? Cheers.

If, as it sounds, money is no object, I'd go Redline for everything. Or for the engine go to BMW and get some of their (Castrol) full synthetic.

Until I drive it again and then remember why I love it so much! Anyway hoping for some help on this one. One of my windscreen washer jets is very weak - barely gets onto the windscreen. I took the lining off the bonnet and there is a little valve. The valve appears to have two relief holes which are squirting water all over the engine bay. When I block the two holes nothing comes out of the jets at all! Is it likely I have a blockage in one of the jets or a faulty valve. The passengers side jet works brilliantly and the drivers one 'looks' clean. It seems like an overly complex system. Should I just replace the valve with a T-junction or is this valve vital. Small issue I know but it's frustrating me! Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Has anyone here fitted seats from another model into an E28 and if so what was involved. The frame in my E28 drivers seat has cracked and I'm trying to decide whether to fix it or fit say E34 fronts. I understand it's fairly easy with just an adaptor required for the mounts but I'd really love to hear from someone whose actually done it or similar. I really need to get onto this cause I don't think it's entirely safe at the moment! Cheers.

Hi Brent, Any idea how much to send to Welly and how much are you after for the drivers seat? I have a feeling it's probably going to be uneconomical. Have you swapped seats from any other models into an E28 and if so whats involved? I'm think to getting some E34 fronts and putting them in. I understand that it's a case of making up some adaptors for the mounts but I really want to know if any ones done it. Cheers Rohan

Hi, Just wondering if anyone here has upgraded their E28 front seats with some from other models and if so what was involved? The frame on my drivers seat is cracking so I have the option of trying to get it welded, replacing the framing, or putting some others in. My car has a sort or tan / cream coloured wool fabric so I'd have to find something similar. Has anybody fitted E34, E30, or E36 seats and if so what was involved and what did it cost? Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Hi, I was hoping there might be someone in Welly (city if poss) with an E28 which has a towbar that I could have a look at. I recently bought a second hand towbar but can't find any install instructions anywhere. I think I've got it figured out but I'd really just like to double check if someone would be kind enough to let me take a look at theirs and hopefully take some pictures too. Hi I seem to be having a nightmare getting the alignment done on my 525e. It has been back three times now and I'm still not happy with it. First time they aligned it as an E12 (apparently similar) and it started pulling hard to the right. I took it back, they did it again, this time as an E30 325. I told them this was even further from their first attempt! It drove straight but now the steering wheel was on an angle and the handling wasn't right. Took it back a third time. They finally managed to find an the E28. They asked me if it was a standard E28 and not an M535 or M5 (wish!). I told them it was stock. Picked it up and found they had aligned it as an M535 and now its pulling to the left. In fact it's pulling so hard that my partner has noticed it and that's saying something! I guess my question is this... Does this sound like a case of technician incompetence or is perhaps an indicator that my steering or suspension setup needs attention? I'm not naming them (yet) but if I end up getting a refund can anyone recommend somewhere in Wellington that really knows how to align our cars well? Cheers.

Apparently I need a new radiator! Unfortunately the plastic outlet which sits inside the top radiator hose has snapped off! I went to a local radiator place who told me that you can't replace the top tank and it"s almost impossible to get new radiators for this model. I haven't yet priced one from BMW but looking for a second hand one. I'm also open to suggestions if there is a suitable upgrade anyone knows of. Apparently this radiator is fairly specific because its a 525e auto with aircon. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

I may have missed the boat on this one but camb's suggestion is right on. Unless your engine is seriously worn a 15w 40, 50, or 60 would be the best bet. The Penrite HPR 10 or 15 are good options and semi synthetic. Don't add anything else (like moreys, motor up etc), you'll just be spoiling the good oil you've just put in. Get a genuine BMW filter, they are cheaper then Supercheap auto! Remember if your engine isn't using an abnormal amount of oil and you don't drive an M car or similar, it's our climate that determines the grade of oil. Cheers.
