  1. Hi, Thanks. Just the last 7 digits? They are 1866527. Cheers
  2. Hi, I've got a leaking plastic top tank and would love to know if anyones had any experience with repairers and any recommendations. It's a slow leak so I'm not panicking. Cheers.

    Dash light

Thanks. I seem to remember seeing a worn wire some time ago. looked like it had been rubbing on the tyre. Thought I'd moved it enough but maybe not! Cheers.

Thanks, That's a worry though, it's recently had new pads all-round. I'll check the wires on the wear indicators. Cheers for your help.

    Dash light

Hi, Can someone please tell me what this light is for? I've misplaced my handbook and I can't find any info on the net. It has started coming on from time to time. It's an E28 525ee. All help appreciated. Cheers
  6. Thanks, How much are you after? Cheers
  7. Thanks guys, I've got a set of 6x4 components, not super high qaulity but I thought they would be a good upgrade. They come with nice new (and good looking) covers. I'm not doing a full upgrade just yet, keeping an eye out for a nice Blaupunkt, Becker or Nakamichi headunit to replace the stock Alpine. I'll update the amp sometime too. The chassis number is: wbadb620201866527 Thanks for you help so far guys.
  8. Hi, I have a stock BMW system in my 525EE. It's the 'premuim' one with 4 inch mids in the kick panels and tweeters on the doors. My question is... I'm about to upgrade the front speakers with new components and I've taken the tweeters off to find that they are 8 ohm units. Is this because the tweeter and mid are somehow running in parallel or is the amp (in the boot under the parcel shelf) an 8 ohm amp? Any ideas? Cheers
  9. I am serious about the Lotto tickets! Great site aye? I saw a 6 series B7 turbo was sold on this site receltly too! Anybody know if you could even impost that M5 under the current emission laws? I've been thinking about that car all day. Who needs a house anyway?
  10. Thansk They are different parts. For a start the E34 arms are alloy but I want to know if they are interchangable. I've heard that they are but I'd love to hear from someone who has done or knows something about doing it. Cheers
  11. Hi, Looking for a bit of advice about replacing my very worn upper control arms. Can someone please tell me if the E28 and E34 arms are interchangable? If they are, is any modification involved? I know you can upgrade the bushes, but my ball joints have had-it too. Any and all advice greatfully appreciated. Cheers
  12. I literally shed a tear when I saw this. http://www.terra2imports.ca/import-japan116423201033822.htm Don't know if I could bring myself to actually drive it though! Cheers
  13. I'm with Topcat on this one. Get the alternator checked out too. I've just been through this myself, went out and bought a new battery only to find out the alternator brushes needed replacing. The brushes are dead easy to replace (on a Bosch alternator at least) and about a quarter the price of a new battery. Good luck
  14. Is it a 4 or 5 speed? I take it it's a jap import? Any idea what grade of ATF is recommended for your vehicle? I would have the transmission flushed with a good quality ATF, preferably semi or fully synthetic. Penrite do both and they can be ordered through Supercheap auto. Some of the Lubegard products may also be a good idea if the transmission is getting worn, but I would flush it and change the filter first. Cheers.
  15. You would think for a $3.8m car they would spring for some bigger photos!
  16. No I havent. Cheers, I'll give them a try
  17. I need help! Yesterday I snapped off the wiper stalk on my 1988 525ee. I've taken it to bits and the switch is beyond repair. Anyone in Wellington been wrecking an E28 and have one of these I could buy? I'm kinda in a hurry as its my work car and I'd like to get it sorted this weekend if possible. I'll also post in the wanted to buy section. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Posts in this topic bekker Help!!! Today, 01:07 PM « Next Oldest · Maintenance · Next Newest »

  19. Thats about two years is too long dude! Unless you're doing only open road driving AND having your oil analysed. Seriously, with the price of decent quality lubricants at places like Supercheap, theres just no excuse for neglecting your beemer like that. Unless you're wanting to provide the rest of with a parts car.... Cheers
  20. Penrite HPR5 5w40 ACEA A3/B3. Semi synthetic but totally synthetic base stock. Absolutely best value around (imo) and available at supercheap auto. Get the filter from the dealer - cheaper! And if you dont have a service indicator, go by time (6 months max!) unless you clock up 5000 kms in that time! This is one of my favorite subjects! Very sad I know! Cheers.

    oils

No its not. You probably wont do any harm using that grade but in this climate its not really necessary. Its not hard to find 90 LSD oil. Supercheap auto stock both Castrol and Valvoline in that grade. Or you go into BNT automotive (do they have on in HB?) and get some Redline. Thats what I'd do anyway. You dont need too much and you don't replace it that often so I'd say go for some good stuff. If you do need anymore help, feel free to PM me. Cheers.

    oils

My e28 handbook says SEA80 gear oil for the M535i and about 1.25 litres. Go synthetic - Penrite, Amsoil, or Redline would be good choices. Penrite is my personal favorite. Try the two links below too (although neither are synthetic). http://www.penrite.com.au/html/s02_article...p;nav_top_id=55 http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdeta...ntentId=6007785 FYI, diff oil is Hypoid gear oil SEA90. Make sure its LSD oil!!! About 1.9 litres. Good luck.
  23. Thanks guys. Arlington motors do seem pretty good. Always a bunch of quality motors there. I'll check them out tomorrow. I hate it when someone else damages my car, and doesn't even seem to give a toss! Bastards. Thanks for your help everyone. Cheers
