  4. Hi guys, So my E30 has to spend overnight locked up in a carpark tonight due to some odd problem. A few days ago the boot light drained the battery and I got it charged up at Taylor auto electrical. So that was fixed and I adjusted the boot light switch. I have been driving it trouble free for a couple days and went to the shops today where I spent about 2 hours and when I came back the car would not start. I found that with the keys in the ignition but not turned to anything the subwoofers power light comes on and my cigarette lighter charger goes on but as soon as you turn the key to any other position the lights go off. So when the car is off things are powered, when it's on no lights come on or anything. We jumped it but nothing not even a click from the starter or a single light on the dash. I am VERY stumped and need to get this sorted asap. Any ideas what may be the issue here? Any help would be VERY VERY appreciated! Thanks
  5. im looking at replacing my control arms and tie rods in my e30 pfl coupe. i am half way through an m50 swap into my coupe and was wondering if anyone would have recommendations for what brand of tierods and control arms to use in my e30. i am going to be doing a z3 rack when doing the control arms and would like a bit of advice on that also.
  6. So since I had today off work, decided to look into converting the rear windows to electric. As it seems like most of the poverty spec tourings had electric fronts, and manual rear windows. Didn't manage to find anything definitive about the process online (as most people either wanted to go to manual windows because racecar, or because they had all manual windows to start with, and no loom) So before you get too excited, first take out your center console and peel back the carpet to see if you have provisions for all 4 windows on the rear. (I got pretty excited at this point) Then you need to source electric motors, and also the rear door loom. This runs from the B pillar through to the door. You'll also need 4 window switches, and also the small switch that controls power to the rear of the loom. (All from a 4 door) To make your life easy, you can also grab a centre console from a sedan also, so that you have the holes all ready to go. So pull out your B pillar cover, and you'll see this connector hiding away Just unplug it and pull it out. I found it easier to pull it all out via the door. Then you'll need to remove the old regulator If it's all working, just wind the window down until you can see these 2 bolts, and undo those Electric verses Manual Install of the electric windows is basically reverse of removal. Only difference is that you need 3 nuts instead of 2 bolts. Just to note, that the rear windows will only work if you have switches installed at both the center console, and in the door. As I think it runs a 12V circuit between them. You will also need to have the smaller switch in the loop. This basically just allows the 12V to run through the rear window circuit also. Now you can enjoy your electric rear windows Edited due to the attachment editor throwing a wobbly.
  7. Have a mild leak from the crimped fitting of one of my oil cooler hoses on M20B25... Replacement part is 200USD + shipping from Pelican Parts. Does anyone know of a good engineering shop who could replace the rubber hose section and re-crimp the connections?
  8. WTB: Hella (not Bosch) left hand low beam ellipsoid and high beam for E30
  9. These might be noob questions but I can't find answer's solid enough to make me feel comfortable buying this stuff as some of it may come from overseas. Can anyone confirm if the following are interchangeable between the B20 and B25: - Timing Belt - Water Pump - Tensioner Pulley - Alternator/Power Steer Belts - Cam Seal - Thermostat Realoem shows the same part numbers for most of these but this is only the second time I've used it so no idea how accurate it is. Main reason for asking is that there's a huge amount of 'timing belt kits' available for the B25 and bugger all for the B20
  10. 205/50R16s x 4. Wrong size for my e30, so have taken them off am now wanting to sell for smaller profile! or if anbody wants to swap for 205/45 or even 215/45. Thanks.
  11. My E30 project has worn, tan, comfort seats. I don't mind the shape of the back seats too much and was actually thinking of getting in retrimmed in vinyl or something....until I looked at the cost. The front drivers seat is shredded and looks horrible. I've read that E21/E24 recaros are a nice swap but this being NZ I'm assuming they would go for astronomical prices even if you could find some. E36/E46 seats...not so keen on vaders in E30's really. The E36 sports seats would be my preference so far but finding a black set in decent condition.. Has anyone got any other ideas for nice looking "sport" seats that might fit? I can make up adaptor rails as long as the seats actually fit in the car.
  12. My E30 currently has an aftermarket alarm system that is inoperative/I don't have any of the fobs to operate it. I am wanting to get a new alarm with immobiliser - can anyone recommend any particular system or installer? The current system is a mess of wires and I'm wanting to find someone who will do a tidy job and get rid of the old wiring. Thanks in advance!
  13. Looking to buy e30 front pair of struts 51mm Good cond. Including wheel bearings Cheers. 0211703621 Jay
  14. Hi guys, Looking for a Mtech 1 front for my E30 sedan to complete the kit. The closer to Auckland the better, and the closer to Polaris Metallic the better but all will be considered as i cannot be picky at this stage. Thanks!
  15. Bought a MTech I apron off another user on here about a week ago, finally got around to fitting it up a week later and i've now decided i don't really like look of it and it doesn't really suit my car. So its up for sale... Feel free to make offers... would want at least $200 as i paid $250 for it The guy i bought it off fibreglass repaired a crack it had, so all it needs is to be painted. Unfortunately. When i first got it i tried to install it i didnt realise that the mounting holes were actually meant to be circle and the original clips could no longer be used, so 2 of the mounting holes, (out of probably 15?) have been widened slightly but shouldn't make a difference at all. as the holes are covered and fitment was still fine when i tried installed it. EDIT: added another photo to show where it was repaired
  16. WTB a rustfree bootlid and sunroof lid for a bronze/beige e30
  17. I’m wanting to change the springs/shocks on my ’91 E30 325i Convertible. A PO has fitted aftermarket springs that have lowered the car ~45mm (currently 310mm front, 320mm rear – height from centre of wheel to top or arch). It is still on standard Sachs shocks, so needless to say the ride is terrible. I have become very diligent at avoiding minor road imperfections to avoid hitting the bump stops constantly. I don’t want to go back to stock springs and have the massive stock fender gap at the front. It’s my daily driver and won’t see any track use. I don’t mind/like firm suspension, I just want to avoid having an overly jarring ride/hit bump stops regularly. I’m currently thinking about one of two options: Option 1: M Technic spring set (apparently still available according to Pelican Parts) and Bilstein HD (B6) shocks, with 3mm spring seat at front and 5mm at rear. (Lowering height over stock anyone? I read in US forums anything between nothing and 15mm) Option 2: H&R sport springs and Bilstein Sport (B8) shocks, with 9mm spring seat at front and 10mm spring seat at rear (I’m only specifying these as I don’t want to go too low). (H&R springs lowering apparently 1.4” at front .75” at rear) (Both of the above options are with the convertible specific springs to carry extra weight at rear) My question is, does anyone happen to run a similar setup on their E30 and how do they find this on NZ roads (subjective I know), or any other suggested setups? Also if anyone runs either kit, how much did they find it actually lowered the car?
  18. Set of four 185/60R15 tires in excellent condition. Sidewalls in great shape, even wear across the surface of the tire, heaps of tread, etc. Two Goodyear tires with about 6-7mm of tread, two Yokohama tires with 5+ mm of tread (my depth gauge went AWOL, those should be pretty accurate numbers though). Came from an E30, only seperated as someone wanted to buy the Hartge wheels seperately $195
  19. A very long shot, but looking to purchase a E30 convertible removable hardtop... I doubt anyone has one lying around, but nonetheless thought I'd ask on the off chance. Will pay $2000 give or take depending on condition.
  20. Wanting to buy a non-rusted sunroof lid and manual crank for a pfl e30 coupe. Please comment if you have either one or both of these items for sale

  22. Looking to buy e30 front struts which are 51mm. I have a pair at home but the left side is rusted or on its way. So need to replace it before i assemble it together Would be intrested in buy just the left strut but if your selling both. Il consider it. If caliper and rotor and wheel bearing included then thats a plus.
  23. Hi all! I have a '84 320i that I am in the process of bringing back from the dead. On my list of to-do items is to swap out the slightly mangled existing setup for something that saves a bit of weight and gives a nice sound. The current setup I have is a slightly hacked up factory exhaust that has been changed to a single pipe halfway through. I would like to convert the car back to dual pipes all the way, but the e30 factory setup is a bit heavy and too tame in terms of volume for me. I have done a bit of research and found that while an Eisenmann sounds glorious (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wATJXGhi-70) it is also the most expensive by far. Like $1100 NZD + shipping kind of expensive. Which sucks because it is my favorite. Stromung makes a catback setup for the e30 that I like a lot (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOQDkPOFLZA) and is a lot cheaper than the Eisenmann at $610 USD (currently that is $930 NZD because of the crazy exchange rate, so it should get cheaper again). Still a lot coin though. SO My bottom line is I paid $850 for my whole car and I'm not in a place where I can just drop 1-2K on a perfect exhaust setup. I want duals and a louder but nice tone. If that could happen for $600 or less all up I would be stoked. What would you reccomend as a nice sounding rear muffler that is affordable here in NZ? Also use a factory center section or use something else? Thanks guys!
  24. Looking for a manual e30 coupe, preferably a 318i, open to all suggestions though. Ideally, north island would be great. Not too keen on vehicle transport etc. $6000 MAX budget. Thanks for anything in advance!
  25. My Pride and Joy is up for sale. allot of money has been spent on it recently as i never intended to sell it is a 1993 e30 touring it has had a recent drive line swap for all the best bits it has a m20B25 engine which runs perfectly attached to a 5 speed gearbox which is in perfect condition, also short shifted. it is connected to a freshly rebuilt LSD with new bearings and seals. disc breaks all round with good wheel bearings. no curbing on any of the wheels and decent tyres. H&R springs all round with good shocks. I fitted a ultra racing rear sway bar and whiteline front swaybar with new bushings this improved the handling enormously I also fitted new powerflex control arm bushes and diff bush which improved handling also. interior is complete and has dark blue leather front recaro sports seats in very good condition. has new speakers all round and a fusion head unit. tinted windows (legal) new badges and euro plates very good solid car, drives like it should with plenty of power mechanically very good paint work is average photo from when i got it, i am overseas at the moment can have the new bonnet painted for the right price. the last owners damaged the other bonnet swapping the engine so i got a nice new one put on
