Would be mint for summer. Also what is the 'steptronic' gearbox? same a tiptronic? Anything i should be looking for when i go to inspect it? E30 to E46 is a natural stepping stone, I'd never own an E36 again purely due to their interiors that fall apart after 60 thousand K's. Hell, E46's are ten year old cars anyway. I to have been looking at e46 330i's (must have won the lotto too? ) From what I've seen lately its a good buy. Low kms, but not f/l. Definately get the pre-purchase done by Glenn. Those steptronic boxes have been known to die if poorly treated. In the last few weeks I've seen '99-01 330i's for as little as $15k, a few good motorsport 330i's with low kms for either side of $20k, and then a few with SMG gearboxes, f/l (>2003), stupidly low kms and babied for around the $30k mark. That puts that vert around the average price for an auto 330i motorsport f/l coupe with low kms = good buying to me. I've decided to wait until next year. I'm hoping this "recession" might mean prices are going to drop dramatically as mom & pop investors start panic-selling Dad's Beamer to save the house. Hopefully that happens around the start of winter when car prices start to dive anyway. Maybe I'm too hopeful, but the price certainly isn't going to go up between now and then.
