lbirgel 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I was board today so I decided to go for a drive out to Piha. It’s a good drive during the week when its quite. Thought it’s a good idea to do what Apex has done and list the things done to the car during my ownership. Almost had it for 2 years now and since then ive: -Spent a fortune on maintenance but there can’t be a lot left to do -Installed new Bilstein sport shocks -H&R springs -Engine swap with a Racing Dynamics tuned m20 -Front and Rear strutbraces -Colour coded the wing mirrors (also have e36 m3 style but don’t like them) -Full dyno tune 6 weeks ago with Gavin at Hi Velocity -Have had all the rust cut out. (except sunroof) will do later on -Probably some more but can’t remember Future plans -Swap 3.46lsd with a 3.73lsd -Lighter wheels (current mags are twice the weight of the 15 inch cross-spokes) -Recondition front bumper and sideskirts -Carbon airbox Am planning to go for another drive out there Tuesday Wednesday next week (if the weathers mint) if any ones keen to join me send us a pm. I live close to the airport so can meet at my house if its handy. Some pics that I took today in a layby! Edited December 4, 2008 by M 325i
Forrest 35 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Looking seriously cool man, your car doesnt look so run of the mill, the subtle touches really set it apart. Me like.
OLLIE 26 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Awesome dude!! looking fantastic. i don't like those E36 style mirrors either, the stock colourcoded looks really good.

JiB 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) That's a seriously choice car. If the car is remaining a street car I'd keep the 3.46. I have a 3.73 in my track hack, which makes everything a bit short. Even more noticeable on the street. My 2c P.S. Do you have a dyno figure? Curious to see how much power the dynamics motor is putting out. Edited December 4, 2008 by JiB
lbirgel 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 thanks for the comments guys! maby ill go with a 3.64 The engine ended up beeing a 2.5l which is cool! goes prety well. attached are the dyno sheets. I need to see what else i can do to the engine. would love to get to 100kw at the wheels. once i get some lighter wheels, cold airbox and change the diff i will go in for another run. not sure what else i can do to get more power. engine already has full exhaust system and a larger cam. possibly a larger throttle body? bravo 35 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Can someone tell me what a car like this is worth without say the engine change because I think I want one! What is the kit? Excuse my ignorance im an E36 owner PRice dependson market - I'd say somewhere just under $10k depending on buyer, but botom dropping out of the market so that may be rather generous. Never know though - genuine m325i with RD motor is a bit more special than your average thrashed m325i. Kit is BMW factory mtechnic II aka mtechII. 3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 sounds like you are being converted! kit is an mtechII To be honest, Ive always been converted The problem is that I started with an E36 and find it slightly strange to jump in a delorean and go back in time to own an E30! Id love to have both but space at home does not allow me to

Apex 693 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Shot. That Dyno figure is a little less than I would have thought, is high velocities Dyno a Dyno Dynamics type?? They read quite low from what I have experienced.

lbirgel 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 Shot. That Dyno figure is a little less than I would have thought, is high velocities Dyno a Dyno Dynamics type?? They read quite low from what I have experienced. Im not sure if it is or isn't i would guess it most likely is becuse its written at the top of the sheet. it does feel alot nicer tho to drive. To give you an idea of what the cam does to my fuel consumption with the old engine i was getting 550km per tank and now (RD engine) i will get about 470km. Before the tune i was getting about 440km thats a 60L tank of 98. (city driving) I havent taken it on a long trip yet but im guessing the difrence will not be as bad because the car wont be ideling as much.

hybrid 1043 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 you have done really well with that car mate, love the engine conversion. You have really gone the right way about things with it! Next for you: * Brakes / brake line upgrade * Urethane bush upgrade * short shift kit (if it isn't already) * swade m steering wheel upgrade * lower the front about an inch (optional) just will help give it 'that' look * Image or BBS light weight forged multipiece wheels
